Just that really.

@sabrinathwaite and @antirrhinum Sainsbury have got it wrong in that case!

No, Worcestershire sauce is quite nice but Henderson's tastes like week-old watery gravy that a cat has peed into. My husband unaccountably loves Hendersons.

Pelleas · 16/10/2020 21:49

Sainsbury have got it wrong in that case!

Just their way of avoiding copyright breach.

SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 21:50

Yes.

Because that’s not Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce.

MoonSauce · 16/10/2020 21:51

Hendos FTW.

I have a sensitive palate and can very much tell the difference.

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/10/2020 21:53

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Is Henderson's still made in the middle of the University campus in Sheffield?
I think it was there first but yes. I mean the campus grew around it
moonlight1705 · 16/10/2020 21:56

My DH lived in Sheffield for 20 years and the moved down to Worcester to live with me. He brought Hendersons with him and we had a cheese on toast blind battle, Worcestershire Sauce won.

I live about 5 mins walk from the original Lea and Perrins factory which is a very interesting old building.

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/10/2020 21:59

@SabrinaThwaite ah but I didn't ask about Lea and Persons Worcestershire sauce, that'll be why.

Persephonee · 16/10/2020 22:05

Haven’t read the full thread but came on to say ..... blasphemy!! Henderson’s is in a league of its own 😎

SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 22:07

It’s still Worcestershire sauce, not Worcester sauce, despite the Sainsbury’s version.

And it’s Lea and Perrins (not Lea and Persons).

DelphineWalsh · 16/10/2020 22:09

Taste different. Henderson is better. I always grab a bottle when up in Sheffield.

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/10/2020 22:10

Sorry about the autocorrect. My point being, I typed out "Worcestershire " thought about it, checked the actual bottle, then changed it.

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 22:12

Because it’s the Sainsbury’s generic version.

The original is Worcestershire sauce.

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/10/2020 22:16

Yes, yes I know that. Hmm

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 22:21

So what’s your problem?

It’s Worcestershire sauce.

Hmm yourself.

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/10/2020 22:25

Grin I'm ask mnhq to change the title, to generic Worcester sauce, not lea and perrins, the original Worcestershire sauce. Oh, and LIGHTHEARTED

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 16/10/2020 22:27

Yeah, you’re very light hearted.

You’re still wrong.

nighttrains · 16/10/2020 22:31

Henderson's is what you buy if you are a) desperate and b) can't get Worcester sauce for love nor money Grin

nighttrains · 16/10/2020 22:32

@Brefugee

Also you can buy it online. I have the Sheffield Wednesday bottle and order 2 litres at a time to refill it.

Which reminds me, about time i got some more.

At least if you buy it make sure it's Blades not Owls!
weaselwords · 16/10/2020 22:42

I come from Worcester but am vegetarian so can’t bring myself to get either.

Vinotinto78 · 16/10/2020 22:48

Sheffielder here, so I’m whispering this....L&P is better (prepares for pitchforks at dawn).

HunterHearstHelmsley · 16/10/2020 22:49

They're definitely not the same. L&P is lovely. Henderson's... Not so much.

nighttrains · 16/10/2020 22:49

Well done for escaping the brain washing Grin
IAintentDead · 16/10/2020 23:10

I prefer Hendersons but it's a bit like Coke and Pepsi, different people have different tastes

(Hendo's is definitely better to me)

Plus Henderson's is Henderson's

Lea and Perrins is just a generic name for Worcestershire sauce of which there are many variations

PigletJohn · 16/10/2020 23:16

I like Lea & Perrins.

I am willing to believe that there are other people who like the copies.

De gustibus non disputandum est.
