So this all kicks off tomorrow. Cue some bigly tweets in all caps from Clark Kent Trumpy.

Senate Democrats seek answers on materials missing from Amy Coney Barrett's Senate paperwork

Now... bearing in mind, I have no idea how the money thing works in the US as far as election candidates but this is something else isn't it?

NEW: Senate candidate @harrisonjaime announcing this morning that he has raised a record $57 million in the Q3 in his race against @LindseyGrahamSC.

This is the highest quarterly amount raised by a Senate candidate in US history.

Brings his total haul to an unfathomable $86M.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 20:05

Thanks for the info on the Barrett hearings NorthWest , I hope to have a look in

lionheart · 11/10/2020 20:08

I still haven't got past Kavanagh.

BruceAndNosh · 11/10/2020 20:16

Lindsey Graham won't take a test in case it means he can't attend Barrats confirmation

TheNorthWestPawsage · 11/10/2020 20:37

Apparently Trump now wants 2nd debate to go ahead...

TheNorthWestPawsage · 11/10/2020 20:43

Yes Roussette Harrisons's fund raising is exceptional. Graham has "shed tears" on tv crying "it's not fair". Yet more hypocrisy - I do hope Graham's toast come November. He's a two-faced, snivelling reverse ferret. (Apols to ferrets)

Roussette · 11/10/2020 21:05

I still haven't got past Kavanagh

Nor me! Apart from the testimony from Dr. Ford, the angry face and 'We drank beer. I LIKE beer and drinking with Squee' or whatever his name was, was a moment I won't forget!

NorthWest he now wants it to go ahead???

Just gone to look on Twitter, they're saying Biden is too scared to.
I wouldn't want to, he's not even 14 days when it happens.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/10/2020 21:48

The thing that's so fucking amazing about Harrison's fund raising is the sheer NUMBER of contributions this represents. $57 million came in the form of 1.5 million donations from 994,000 donors in a 3 month period (per Time Magazine). That averages out to 11,000 people PER DAY over the 90 day period. That's 460 donation PER HOUR. No wonder Graham is shitting plaid rabbits.

People all over the US are donating to Harrison's campaign, not just people who live in So Carolina. Hell, we live in Calif and we've pitched in!

In the time article Graham is quoted as saying "They hate my guts". Well yes. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap" and to keep the agricultural theme going "Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind".

lionheart · 11/10/2020 22:02

That is heartening, Across. I love that rabbit phrase. I think you used it once before Across, so many moons ago, and we were rather taken with it back then. Smile

lionheart · 11/10/2020 22:02

Don't forget the sobbing and the calendar, Roussette.
And the ever wretched Collins.

Mostly I remember Dr Ford.

@TheNorthWestPawsage

Apparently Trump now wants 2nd debate to go ahead...
Maybe he's having trouble getting a non Fox network to schedule a Town Hall for him to go up against Biden's ABC one
Roussette · 11/10/2020 22:28

Ohyes lion I remember it well !

Fauci sounds pretty mad.

www.politicususa.com/2020/10/11/fauci-trump-ad.html

“In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate. The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials,” Fauci said in a statement provided exclusively to CNN when asked if he agreed to be featured in the ad.

(CNN) 'In an unprecedented move, the New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday published an editorial written by its editors condemning the Trump administration for its response to the Covid-19 pandemic -- and calling for the current leadership in the United States to be voted out of office.'

Lweji · 11/10/2020 23:32

Fauci may well end up endorsing one candidate for the first time ever, as some scientific journals have been. More are likely to follow.

Rapunzathepenguin · 12/10/2020 00:07

We've started calling him Caligula in this house....

Rapunzathepenguin · 12/10/2020 00:07

Trump, that is, obviously, not Fauci

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2020 00:37

@Lweji

Nah. As a Govt Employee he's not allowed to publicly endorse a candidate in a partisan election. It's a violation of the Standards of Conduct. It was one of the great things about retiring. I can now stand up 'loud and proud' for whomsoever I choose.

He's allowed to privately 'support' a candidate, but not allowed to make a public endorsement. You can damn betcha that Scrotus et al have reminded him of this plenty of times!

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2020 00:39

I meant the Hatch Act, although that's part of the SoC, too.

POTUS and Veep are exempt from the Hatch Act.

Flavabobble · 12/10/2020 01:05

I was just about to go to sleep and have made myself cross now.

Fox news and their
"The Trump campaign fired back at Fauci’s comments that his words were “taken out of context” – saying that the infectious disease expert had praised the Trump administration’s work in combatting the pandemic and that his comments are “accurate.”

“These are Dr. Fauci’s own words,” Tim Murtaugh, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, said in a statement to Fox News. “The video is from a nationally broadcast television interview in which Dr. Fauci was praising the work of the Trump Administration.”

Murtaugh added: “The words spoken are accurate, and directly from Dr. Fauci’s mouth. As Dr. Fauci recently testified in the Senate, President Trump took the virus seriously from the beginning, acted quickly, and saved lives.”

Slimy git.

Roussette · 12/10/2020 07:17

I make myself cross at bedtime too Flavabobble !

This in...
NEW: Biden’s shortlist for US Attorney General (as of now)

  • Andrew Cuomo
  • Sally Yates
  • Stacey Abrams

Any thoughts anyone? Especially our American friends...

Personally, and I'm no expert, I would say Sally Yates.
