As they're walking off. Joe B snogs his Mrs, thanks the host, thanks the audience and flicks v's waves at Trump.
Trump glowers, grips Melania's hand and stalks off. But she snatches her hand away.

JamieLeeCurtains · 23/10/2020 04:04

Melania's packing. For Melania.

@BoreOfWhabylon

He's still using two hands to lift his water glass
It's to protect his expensive silk ties for drops of water dontcha know!
BruceAndNosh · 23/10/2020 07:35

I've had a quick scan of various recaps this morning and it sounds like Trump's plan to shut up and let Biden make himself look bad failed spectacularly. Joe got a few really good soundbites in that will be replayed over and over

Roussette · 23/10/2020 08:47

gosh, I'm tired

It's interesting to see Twitter this morning. His supporters saying he walked it. We were obviously watching something different then.

I thought Trump did far worse this time than the last Debate even with the interruptions.
It really was the Emperor with No Clothes moment.
He offered absolutely nothing on replacement for Obamacare, nothing on climate change... basically nothing. He just attacked

BruceAndNosh · 23/10/2020 09:22

I'm just checking the Merriam Webster dictionary to see if there is a new definition for "vicious" which apparently means "asking a question I don't like and can't answer"

BruceAndNosh · 23/10/2020 10:51

Trump is retweeting "polls" which are saying he won the debate by over 90%
If you're going to post a poll which targeted an obviously biased section of voters, at least make the figures believable

FrankieStein402 · 23/10/2020 11:04

I saw this on the BBC One channel (they had joined the BBC news channel)

I don't think Kristen was as good as suggested - Trump always got a chance to reply to what Biden said but a Biden response was often 'trumped' with a '10 second' offer to Trump in order to quieten him - meant that Biden never had 'the last word'.

Trump just lied, expansively, and even when called out just doubled down. Biden was just not a good speaker, hesitant, occasionally falling over himself.

On balance I think Biden did put over all the good points but Trump's loud bluster reduced the impact - I think it was a much more even split than PP have suggested - Biden may have edged it with the uncommited.

Roussette · 23/10/2020 11:08

Frankie
I agree. The commentator was bad but we are comparing it to complete mayhem before.
And yes... Trump's constant 'excuse me, excuse me, excuse me' to interrupt meant he got the last word a lot.

But as far as Biden's hesitancy, I think he has to work so hard at controlling his stutter so it comes over as hesitant. He does have the facts and figures though. Unlike Trumpy.

Roussette · 23/10/2020 11:11

Gosh I must be tired. I didn't mean to type that the commentator was 'bad'. better but not perfect

Biden's greatest moments during the Debate.

BruceAndNosh · 23/10/2020 11:52

Well, I started to watch some of the debate but after less than a minute into Trump's first response I had to give up when he managed to shoehorn at least 6 lies into the first couple of sentences.

So I tried watching a bit with the sound off as @HoldMyLobster did, to just look at their body language. I jumped to the bit where Biden asks about Trumps taxes and trump "answers" off topic about the Muller report.
Now we are used to TRump being orange, but those videos from hospital show that his natural skin tone is actually very pale. But during that section you could see his face was really red underneath the pancake foundation. He was just about controlling it but he was VERY angry

Roussette · 23/10/2020 12:12

Yes, he was angry.
I was the same with the Lesley Stahil 60 minutes interview, you could see the rage and fury on his face.

This is a powerful image...

Also a lot of the screenshots of Trump have the full on IT''S NOT FAIR confused face

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 13:54

I'm really sorry, but listening to the news, the takeout seemed to be

Stop the presses!

President of United States didn't start brawl this time.

What sort of an expectation of him did everyone have, for that to be the most conspicuous thing being felt about it? And what does that expectation say about the office as well as the incumbent? It's horrible.

BruceAndNosh · 23/10/2020 16:19

Agreed, it's an indictment of his character that "Trump behaves vaguely like a normal human being" is seen as a big positive thing.

ludothedog · 23/10/2020 16:26

Just watching Borat. How on earth did he get so close to Guliani? He's so typical of those entitled old men of his age... tbh he was just tucking his shirt in but he was so creepy! Yuck!

Roussette · 23/10/2020 16:41

Can anyone explain the Borat thing to me? Did Rudy agree to appear in a Borat film? And why, if he did.
And would you want to play that particular part if you did agree to do so. Extremely sleazy
He looked more than tucking his shirt in, but what do I know!

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/10/2020 16:56

Well, Sacha Baron-Cohan is a master prankster, he leads his victims where they don't want to go but they end up there anyway. In his incarnation as Ali G (see his Wikipedia entry).several prominent people were taken in, and found themselves making a fool of themselves in their responses to his gradual increasingly outrageous questions. I believe much of his previous film with him as Borat in America is genuine candid camera stuff - certainly when making this current film he had to be slightly less prominent as he is too well known in the USA now.

lionheart · 23/10/2020 17:05

DS is watching and enjoying the Borat movie right now.

I have told him to report back. Smile

lionheart · 23/10/2020 17:07

Funny and strange, apparently.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/10/2020 17:19

Isn't the much more important thing (than Giuliani going off to have a drink with a fifteen-year-old in a hotel bedroom) that he claimed point blank that "China manufactured the SARS-2-CoV virus and deliberately spread it around the world"?

Gah.

Flavabobble · 23/10/2020 17:47

I think he's tucking her shirt in here. This is as he's asking her for her address and phone number...
