My initial reaction was disbelieving I'm afraid to say.
He tweeted angrily about the debate commission changing some of the rules because he knows that would not work to his advantage. The next debate is Thursday 15th Oct, and Trump will be out of quarantine (if he is asymptomatic) on 16th... convenient...

Also why was Hope Hicks allowed on the plane if she'd already tested positive or have I got that wrong?

Apparently there's now been a secret recording released of Melania dissing the WH Christmas and other stuff.

And THIS is why I was so annoyed at the entire Trump clan removing their masks once seated at the debate. Its not just THEIR health that they can affect

TheNorthWestPawsage · 02/10/2020 07:55

This>>>>>

A reminder to all Americans that the net effect of our prime minister catching COVID-19 was that it prompted a surge of patriotic support. From which he emerged with renewed popularity. Which enabled him to tear up key functions of the state.

It also silenced press & parliament at key moment in crisis from asking critical questions. And when it was announced he was moving to intensive care was moment of national shock. Everything about this is rocket fuel for ‘patriotism’

God, you're right.
Bugger

Hmmph · 02/10/2020 08:01

Sorry to jump in- Does anyone else remember Trumps tweet about Boris when he was ill? Something about his ratings jumping? Trump sounded jealous in it.

Roussette · 02/10/2020 08:08

I do worry that he will be virtually asymptomatic and recover easily and use it as a reason to urge everyone back to school/work/hospitality and say 'See.. it's just likethe flu'

As we all know (and I know from personal experience from people I know) You can be very very poorly with it with long term effects lasting months, and you can have it for a couple of days and barely notice. And anything in between.

Shit might be real. (Doomsday Plan)

30 minutes before Trump’s announcement, the fail safe planes are put into air to deter foreign adversaries. Part of continuity protocols.

Hmmph

You are not wrong.
The trouble is ... Trump is such a proven liar... I don;t believe much of what he says.
This is convenient.
On twitter his followers are going crazy with worry, thoughts, prayers, and are treating him like a deity

Remember this? 4 years ago to the day.

Trump doesn't do illness. He despises sickness, disabilities and frailties. It's a sign of weakness to him so if he is faking this then he really is desperate.

He may be that desperate.

@TheNorthWestPawsage

I think it's fair to say that I don't wish him well and my hopes and prayers are directed in a slightly different direction.
Yes. Same here.

I do hope he does have it.
Somehow, still doubt it.
But unless he gets seriously ill, the debates could still take place later on. Or via Zoom.

At this point, I don't know if it will rally people, though. It only shows his poor handling of the whole thing.

Boris caught it at a time when knowledge was still scant(ish). At this time, it's mostly stupidity on his part.

PerkingFaintly · 02/10/2020 09:03

Sadly, Cadwalladr is right. His polls will have a bounce from this.

PerkingFaintly · 02/10/2020 09:08

It was inevitable he would catch it because of his behaviour, so I've just been waiting for this.

And yeah, I expect him to survive and get the sympathy bounce.

Roussette · 02/10/2020 09:12

'Fox News illustrates breaking news that Trump has tested positive for Covid with rare image of him briefly wearing a mask - moving quickly to airbrush from the minds of viewers his reckless refusal to do so routinely and his constant mockery of Biden for being more responsible.'

Real live troll Jacob Wohl up to his tricks again, but he's been charged with felony this time. If found guilty, jail terms go up to 7 years for these activities. So we'll see what happens.

Conservative activist Jacob Wohl charged with running election robocall scheme
www.theverge.com/2020/10/1/21497823/jacob-wohl-jack-burkman-michigan-robocall-voter-intimidation-felony-charges

They’re accused of targeting Detroit residents with calls that discouraged voting, including false claims that mail-in ballots would let health agencies “track people for mandatory vaccines.”

Wohl and Burkman allegedly targeted voters in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois, making a total of around 85,000 calls in August. The calls claimed to come from a group called “Project 1599, a civil rights organization founded by Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl,” and they were aimed at areas with large Black populations, urging them to not “be finessed into giving your private information to the man.”

Phoenix21 · 02/10/2020 09:58

I’ve wondered if they've had to remove and treat him temporarily because his dementia has gone into overdrive.

I saw that bar stools instead of podiums were due for the next debate.

In an ideal world, if he is due to lose I want him to get well so he can be humiliated and jailed.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/10/2020 10:01

Woke up to this news three hours ago and my first thought was "If Trump tweeted it, then it's probably a lie," followed by, "I wonder what he thinks he stands to gain by this lie?"

At a slightly later point, when I had had time to brush my teeth, throw cold water at my face and and turn on my brain, my next thought was, "hang on, he tweeted this at one in the morning. Does some poor sod have to stay up all night giving him tests? "

How long does it take from test to result anyway? I mean, was this the result of a test he took six or eight hours earlier, and the result was rushed to him in the early hours?

I am still baffled by the total stupidity that apparently thought that taking tests all the time in any way reduced his chances of getting this disease.

PerkingFaintly · 02/10/2020 10:10

I doesn't read like a Tweet he wrote himself, and I'd guess was by a staffer as so often.

So we're probably yet to hear from the Orange One himself.

Heffalooomia · 02/10/2020 10:22

I think it's a stunt he knows he can't withstand another debate and he needs a way to get out of it 🤔

Roussette · 02/10/2020 10:31

Oh my! That hadn't crossed my mind but nothing is impossible and if he really is in meltdown drive, that would be the only thing they could do. Two weeks quarantining and come back out of rant mode.

I am laughing at Trump sat on a bar stool, what a thought
