TL/dr: It takes the VP and a majority of either the cabinet or one of the Houses of Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment and transfer the powers of the presidency to the VP.

I find it interesting (dons tinfoil hat) that Nancy wants to talk 25th Amendment AND Pence rushes off to be back in DC. Of course, it's all going to turn out to be a nothing-burger but if it gets under Scrotus' skin I'm good with it.

How ambitious is Pence? Where is the actual point he'd be willing to throw Trump under the bus?

Although obviously, Pence wouldn't be doing for himself. Oh no, he'd humbly accept the burden of service only if it were the lord's bidding.

I always thought Pence would wait for someone else to do it, or for Trump to implode and so that he could then step into the spotlight.

He has the demeanour of someone waiting in the wings.

I think Pence has absolutely no loyalty to Scrotus. Pence has a 'higher loyalty'. He's a means to an end only, that end being the presidency for himself. Scrotus is supposed to serve 2 'unhinged' terms and then 'sane' Pence would run.

It's more usual than not that a VP runs when his 'boss' terms out. If Scrotus loses in November, Pence knows he's pretty much screwed as far as being a presidential candidate. The GOP has much 'better' rising stars for 2024.

Pence would jump at the chance if he thinks it a cert and he can come out of it with 'clean hands'. Especially if it means that he might replace Scrotus on the ballot.

To me..he comes across as a deeply unpleasant man.

Karen Pence, maskless, comes on stage gives him a very distant peck on the cheek, rather po faced, he just looked mean.
On comes masked up Kamala's husband, what a contrast. Such warmth, hugging, smiling at each other.

I would say that pence is a much higher calibre of narcissist than his boss, trump has no insight no self-control, pence is very controlled
