Oh god.

It's all very well for perky young things like Melania and Steve Miller to be a little unwell with Covid, but a serious case is what we've been fearing.

Hope he recovers well.

Lweji · 08/10/2020 11:58

Perky and Steve Miller in the same sentence? Grin

Heffalooomia · 08/10/2020 12:02

Trump should be dressed in sack cloth shuffling around tolling a bell and chanting 'unclean unclean'
Trump is now the grim reaper💀☠️

PerkingFaintly · 08/10/2020 12:06

Fair point, Lweji!Grin

PerkingFaintly · 08/10/2020 12:23

Kamala, however, is definitely perky!

Lincoln Project did a nice vid of her a couple of days ago – presumably aimed at the audience of one, since who else would care that she can walk down stairs?!

So agree with your post of 10.54

I, too have worked with men like this. A woman will be called 'aggressive' and 'screechy' yet a man who is acting the same is powerful and firm and 'no nonsense'

This is interesting. How on earth is moderating going to happen?!

Just in: 2nd presidential debate between
@JoeBiden
and
@realDonaldTrump
to be virtual and not in person. #PresidentialDebate

OP posts:
TheNorthWestPawsage · 08/10/2020 12:56

Just came on to say the same!

The second debate between President Trump and Joe Biden will be virtual, with candidates in "separate remote locations" while the moderator is in Miami.

Biden previously stated there should be no debate if Trump is still positive for #COVID19.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 08/10/2020 12:57

Mute button!! Please Smile

Roussette · 08/10/2020 13:00

The thing is... on a virtual call, a zoom meeting, or whatever, there are unspoken etiquette rules. You have to concentrate a lot more so that you don't talk over anyone, you have to be far far more proactive in letting the other person finish before starting etc.

Otherwise it's just noise.
I cannot, for one minute, Trump would get that

OP posts:
Flavabobble · 08/10/2020 13:03

What I’d like is each candidate on half the screen and use of mute button so we can see Trump chunnering on to himself when it’s Biden’s turn.

CaveMum · 08/10/2020 13:18

Trump is already telling Fox News that he won’t take part in a virtual debate.

He says it’s “not acceptable”.

Roussette · 08/10/2020 13:20

He is only one day out of - or one day before - (who knows) his diagnosis of Covid. I would want it virtual too

OP posts:
CaveMum · 08/10/2020 13:23

I hope they “empty chair” Trump. Let Biden answer prerecorded questions from the public via Zoom for the duration of the “debate“.

Trump Campaign have put out a statement saying they will hold a rally instead of attending the debate saying “We’ll pass on this sad excuse to bail out Joe Biden and do a rally instead.”

Is there anyone with a basic talent for writing statements in the Trump Campaign office? Or are they all so sick with Covid the interns are doing it all?!

BruceAndNosh · 08/10/2020 13:45

I wouldn't want Trump to take part in a virtual debate. He'll have McNinny (no problem, she's had it) holding up flash cards behind the camera

Fuck me, do they want to make sure ALL their supporters get it?

BBC during the night was saying that they both lied, and in support produced Pence saying that Trump stopped flights from China, as against Harris saying Trump thought the virus was a Democrat hoax.

OK, so what Trump said was that the virus would vanish in April and worrying about it was a Democrat hoax -- I doubt Trump would see any difference between that and "it's a Democrat hoax", myself, but they only gave one example from each, and then said that nobody won or lost the debate. Did Pence really only tell the one porky in all that mishmash of stuff he was stating?

They're really catching at flies straws now, aren't they?

At this point I'd be just as happy if they did just bin the last two debates. Unless they went 'my' soundproof booth and mute button route it's just going to be another shit show.

But I think Scrotus is overjoyed to have any grounds to refuse another debate. I don't think he's actually stated why he won't take part, has he?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/10/2020 13:53

More worrying, Trump has moved on from the virus being a gift from God to saying that since he was made all better by the three medications he was given, everyone should be given Regeneron's barely-tested antibody cocktail (doesn't he have shares in that company?) and given it free.

This is dangerous. It's also a really obvious bid for votes. It is also impossible: they have perhaps as many as 30,000 doses available in total, which is simply not enough for everyone to get it even if it were free.

Here's a pretty good (and detailed) 'fact check' article.

Trump asked Walter Reed doctors to sign nondisclosure agreements in 2019
At least two Walter Reed doctors who refused to sign nondisclosure agreements last year were not permitted to be involved in Trump’s care.

Trump phones into Fox this morning.
Aaron Rupar annotates and comments in this thread. (It just gets worse)

"I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate" -- Trump, on with Maria Bartiromo, begins his first post-coronavirus interview by saying he's pulling out of the second debate. (He sounds a little hoarse.)
