Senate Judiciary Cmte procedures to conduct business. There are currently 12 Repug and 10 Dems on the Cmte:
1- "Seven Members of the Committee, actually present, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of discussing business."
2-"Nine Members of the Committee, including at least two Members of the minority, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting business."
There are 2 Cmte Repugs who have tested positive. The Dems are all threatening to boycott the meetings. But that still leaves 10 Repugs. Even if one more does test positive, that still leaves 9 and that's enough for a 'discussion quorum' as no minority members are required for that. And it leaves plenty to find the 7 GOP needed for the bi-partisan 'transact business' quorum (2 Dems needed).
I don't know why people are opining that if one more Repug Cmte member tests positive it 'jeopardizes' the SCOTUS process. To my way of thinking we'd have to have at least 7 'out of commission', because then there would only be 6 left and that's not enough to make the 'transacting' business' quorum.
