Why are the Proud Boys boys?
Shouldn't they be MEN?

BruceAndNosh · 03/10/2020 12:24

Waking up time in DC
Time for another round of testing

(Bill Barr, Bill Barr, Bill Barr...)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/10/2020 12:26

The name was made up by a (now embarrassed) comedian, apparently.

Based on "Good Ol' Boys", I expect.

Roussette · 03/10/2020 12:34

"Why are the Proud Boys boys?
Shouldn't they be MEN?"

Because they are silly little boys playing soldiers and need a big telling off and sent up to their bedrooms and don't come down till --this is all over- morning

According to this he was already on oxygen when admitted yesterday
Looks like that was the reason for the face mask 😶

I saw that Heffa and did wonder.

IMO, either he wasn't being tested regularly or he went to the debate knowing he was infected.

Roussette · 03/10/2020 14:23

Lweji
In many places, unverified of course, it's saying he did go to the Debate knowing he had it.

How come? He could have been incubating the virus but test negative.
BruceAndNosh · 03/10/2020 14:33

From CNN

Sen. Ron Johnson, of Wisconsin, has tested positive for Covid-19, his spokesperson said.
If the three senators – Thom Tillis, Johnson and Mike Lee – remain out this month, it would effectively prevent Barrett from being confirmed to the Supreme Court until they return, which could be a lame-duck session.

Interesting ---- this implies that voting for confirmation must take place in person

Lweji · 03/10/2020 14:35

How come? He could have been incubating the virus but test negative.

He could, for sure.
Tests can often be negative pre-symptoms. But it looks like he is showing symptoms very early post-debate, and knowing Hicks was infected. I'd assume they had tested him immediately.

Also, and importantly, I wouldn't put it past him. I can see the scenario where he knew he was infected, didn't think would develop symptoms, but tried to pass it on to his adversary... Too cynic?

Roussette · 03/10/2020 14:37

I did say at 2.30am when watching it live, he looked exceedingly sweaty. It's on this thread somewhere

Not too cynic no. Twitter is awash with that theory...

OP posts:
Lweji · 03/10/2020 14:50

Indeed you did. (previous thread)
That might suggest he already had symptoms, which is even worse.

Roussette Wed 30-Sep-20 02:28:29
Trump is holding his own, but Biden is challenging him. Although he did tell Trump to shut up.!
We are now on Covid, Biden holds the trump cards here...

Trump looks very sweaty.

Roussette · 03/10/2020 14:51

Hehe thought I had!

He was very shiny and just looked like someone who had a temperature to me thinking about it in retrospect!

"Donald Trump's 'nuclear football', the briefcase which could trigger doomsday, was loaded onto Marine One alongside the President."

Doesn't a member of the Secret Service have to be with that briefcase at all times?

Poor man. He must be seriously likely to contract the virus, when Trump has it.

And is anyone else really, really scared by the idea that a person I wouldn't trust to look after a stick insect properly has that power available to him at a time when he might think he is about to die and not care if the whole world is destroyed as well?

lionheart · 03/10/2020 15:03

Barr was at the superspreader event, hanging out with Conway.

AcrossthePond55 · 03/10/2020 15:03

I can't decide if that pic is an O2 tube or if it's some type of ear 'wire' for communications. But TBF, he was apparently feeling 'fatigue' so it wouldn't be unusual to give O2 to enable him to walk 'in a normal fashion' to Marine One.

Bottom line is, they've never been honest about his health before so they certainly aren't going to start now. The first we know anything will be if there is a formal transfer of power by Scrotus himself since (IIRC my civics re the 25th Amendment) the Speaker of the House and the President Pro Tem of the Senate are notified. And I can't see him EVER voluntarily ceding power to anyone. If the president is suddenly incapacitated I believe the VP & the Cabinet notifies the Speaker and Pres Pro Tem. In either case, the VP then assumes power until such time as POTUS takes it back via letter to Congress.

The 25th Amendment was NOT invoked when Reagan was shot, I suppose because he wasn't 'out of it' long enough to disrupt the govt.

The WH has a fully equipped medical suite that apparently is able to handle just about anything so he should have been able to be treated there. Someone mentioned (don't remember if it was here or on TV) that sending him to WR when he was still ambulatory was to avoid the spectacle of him being wheeled out on a gurney, or worse, red-lighted if his condition were to worsen beyond the WH's medical capabilities.

Lweji · 03/10/2020 15:05

TBH, I've kind of worried about something like that since January 2017.

But having the codes is not the same as having the infamous red button. He needs to authenticate his identity. Chances are he won't be able to read the codes (no glasses), or read them properly anyway.

OTOH, "That launch order is roughly half the length of a tweet." Hmm

AcrossthePond55 · 03/10/2020 15:18

Oh, I believe he's been symptomatic a lot longer than they're admitting to. Whether he was tested and it's a conspiracy of silence or he refused testing because he knew he was symptomatic, who knows? But I think it was Hicks positive test and worsening symptoms that have forced his hand.

IF, that is, this isn't all a hoax. He's definitely the 'boy who cried wolf' and such a liar that I still can't quite believe it isn't all some type of a ploy to gather a sympathy bump or avoid the debates. It can't be to delay the election. That's Constitutionally impossible.

BruceAndNosh · 03/10/2020 15:20

I had a good look at the "oxygen tube" and thought it looked like one apart from the fact that the tubes for nasal 02 are markedly thicker, but accepted that there might be new fangled skinny tubes. However a closer view from the front oblique angle shows a straight section of hair in the debated area which clearly sticks out over his jacket collar rather than disappearing twixt shirt and jacket which could look like a fine tube

AcrossthePond55 · 03/10/2020 15:24

Doesn't a member of the Secret Service have to be with that briefcase at all times?

The football is guarded by a presidential military aide. The aide rota is top secret and made up of one member from each military branch.

Lweji · 03/10/2020 15:42

Well...

It seems too many people have been wishing Trump dead on Twitter.

There’s something rather gratifying about this, if the Republicans’ SCOTUS plans are undone by their disregard for COVID control measures.

Biden and Pelosi will be directing all Dems to wear two masks and wash their hands for half an hour to minimise their risk
