Trump used manipulation and race-baiting four years ago. He’s at it again. We are weary and worried but we shall persist.

What is this wonder drug that "reverses senility"?

PhilSwagielka · 27/09/2020 16:53

I reckon Trump is a coke head. He’s definitely on something.

Roussette · 27/09/2020 16:57

If there's a drug to reverse senility, I want some! I swear my hair has got more grey and my sleep habits more shot since Trumpy came to power!
And Johnson too

Heffalooomia · 27/09/2020 16:58

I think more like some form of amphetamine tbh
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/09/2020 17:25

Adderall has definitely been suggested many times. And Sudafed, when it was still effective as a stimulant.

That he is a drug user has been being said for at least twenty-five years, I think, well before he became President. It was first said to have been Tenuate Dospan (diethylpropion) prescribed for him by a "Doctor Robert" character who specialised in “metabolic imbalance” of the rich-enough-to-pay-him.

The fact that he so absolutely denies having ever taken any drug at all, even so much as a cup of coffee, is what makes me think the rumours may be true, really; he started saying that before anyone had accused him of anything.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 27/09/2020 17:38

Back in 2017 it was said he drank 12 cans of Diet Coke a day.

@Roussette

Trumpp's latest tweet...

"I will be strongly demanding a Drug Test of Sleepy Joe Biden prior to, or after, the Debate on Tuesday night. Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???"

Is this a wise move for Trump to demand given his errrmmm 'possible' drug use?

To me that sounds like Trumpy is panicing a bit. If it goes well for Biden he can say he's on drugs Grin

It won't happen. Although if I were Biden I'd be tempted to say "Sure, but just like the Code Duello, you issued the challenge so I get to pick the lab & testing procedures". Scrotus wouldn't have said anything if he already hadn't found a 'cooperative' facility AND 'cooperative' testers, and/or a vial of 'fake urine'. Which exists specifically for drug testing, a friend's son passed an employment screen using fake urine.

But it's just another one of his ploys to get some bullshit out there so he can later spin it. Soon it'll be "I heard Biden once refused a drug test".

I don't think Scrotus is on drugs. I just think he's a fucking evil idiot.

Roussette · 27/09/2020 18:17

Oh yes, I never thought of 'co-operative' testing facilities Shock

Heffalooomia · 27/09/2020 18:24

one of his ploys to get some bullshit out there so he can later spin it
yep he's just laying the groundwork

Heffalooomia · 27/09/2020 18:25

it will have to be blind testing and the lab also chosen blindly!

The Times has also reported that the FDA is planning stricter guidelines for coronavirus vaccine approval, including clearer cutoffs for efficacy, separate advisory committee meetings for each vaccine, etc. But yesterday, the president let it be known that he doesn’t necessarily want anything of the kind:

"That has to be approved by the White House,” he said, adding, “We may or may not approve it.” Raising questions about why vaccine makers would want to delay the process, he said, “We are looking at that, but I think that was a political move more than anything else.”

“We are looking at that” is one of Trump’s tropes, along with “many people are saying” and how everything is coming in two weeks, etc. But the suggestion that the FDA (and the drug companies themselves?) are deliberately dragging their feet on a vaccine is (A) wrong, (B) extremely harmful to public perception of the whole effort and to its eventual success, and (C) an insult that it itself beneath contempt. Oh yeah, and it’s (D) a direct slap in the face to Trump’s own FDA Commissioner, Stephen Hahn.

No drug tests or fact checking...

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace, who will moderate Tuesday night’s first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, will not be tasked with fact-checking the candidates in real time, the co-chair of the debate commission has confirmed.

“We don’t expect Chris or our other moderators to be fact checkers,” Frank Fahrenkopf, co-chair of the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), said Sunday on CNN’s Reliable Sources. “The minute the TV is off there will be plenty of fact checkers.”

He added: “When we choose moderators, we make very clear to them that there’s a vast difference between being a moderator in a debate and being a reporter who is interviewing someone. When you’re interviewing someone, if they say something that is in direct opposition to something they said a week ago, your duty is to follow up and say, wait a minute, you didn’t say that a week ago. But that’s not the case in the debate. If one of these candidates says something on the stage Tuesday, it’s the role of the other person in a debate to be the one to raise that and say, wait a minute, you’re changing the position and so forth rather than the moderator.”

Fahrenkopf went on to say the CPD would not comply with Trump’s demand – which he reiterated in a tweet on Sunday morning – that both candidates be drug-tested before Tuesday’s meeting.

“One of my daughters is a doctor and I’m sure she doesn’t want me taking anybody’s drug test,” Fahrenkopf said. “So, no, that’s not – that’s not within our bailiwick that the commission is going to do or consider.”

As regards the possibility of Trump doing a drug test...

"Congratulations Sir! We are so pleased to tell you, you are the FIRST ever president to be confirmed as Pregnant while in office!"

Oh... the cynic in me.... :-)
