Trump used manipulation and race-baiting four years ago. He’s at it again. We are weary and worried but we shall persist.

I think we knew that anyway, didn't we?

AcrossthePond55 · 10/09/2020 20:52

Catching the Q&A with Scrotus.

Lie, equivocation, blame Woodward/Pelosi/China, not my fault/I didn't say that/you're disgraceful/we did the greatest job.

OK. I'm done. My bullshitometer is overheating.

I can't even begin to fathom what the debates are going to be like. What on earth can they debate that he will even begin to make reasoned points? How on earth will the moderators stop him from just spewing utter lies and drivel? They should have someone at the side with a bullhorn that drowns him out if when he goes off point.

Why is he only doing this now if he could have done it all along...?

DH and I were talking about the debates the other day. We're wondering if Scrotus will try to do that 'creep up from behind' thing like he did with Hillary. I keep picturing Joe whipping around and saying "What're you doing, man? Get back over to your own podium & quit following me around!". DH keeps (gleefully) picturing Biden decking Scrotus. 😆

The debates are going to be interesting. There are set time limits to answer questions and 'rules of order' and these are all agreed to by thee candidates ahead of time. Problem is that candidates in the past have (mostly) abided by them and the mods have been able to rein them in with a simple "time's up" and then moving on to the next question. I can't see Scrotus shutting up for anyone, can you?

Actually, let him run on like a wild boar bore. All Joe needs to do is stand there and stare at Scrotus like he's a 3-headed billy goat.

Or the network could let him carry on but superimpose a big red LIE! on the screen every time he fibs. Along with the bullhorn
BruceAndNosh · 11/09/2020 07:20

Strange that Trump will downplay facts about Covid-19 to "avoid panic" while making up panic inducing guff like "Biden will abolish suburbs, take away your guns, and make us all speak Chinese"

BruceAndNosh · 11/09/2020 07:22

I'd like to be the person in charge of muting microphones of any candidate that lies during the debate.

Lweji · 11/09/2020 08:21

Might as well put in in a gag for the debates.

Meanwhile, good old Sean and Tucker:

Fox News hosts are scrambling to defend Trump's disastrous interview with Bob Woodward where he said he deliberately played down COVID-19
"Carlson blamed Sen. Lindsay Graham, while Hannity compared Trump's leadership to that of President Franklin D. Roosevelt."

What could possibly go wrong? Hmm

Religious right in drive to police election amid dubious voter fraud claims.
Rightwing groups sign up thousands of volunteers to watch for alleged fraud linked to mail-in ballots, despite scant evidence.

Totally agree! Sad git I am, I watched all the debates, (I was going through an insomnia phase at the time!) and I honestly was shocked that Trump was allowed to pace up and down behind Hillary, looming over her shoulder, as she was talking, and generally intimidating her because she's a woman. I found it awful and I hope the new commentators (or whatever they're called) put a stop to this behaviour.

He should either stand behind his podium or f**k off the stage. Mind you... it's 4 years on, his health has deteriorated, he can't walk like he used to, so maybe he will stay put...

"He should either stand behind his podium or f**k off the stage. Mind you... it's 4 years on, his health has deteriorated, he can't walk like he used to, so maybe he will stay put..."

Maybe they just need to put a slope up to his podium with no hand rail nor anybody to hold his hand when he walks down...

Lweji · 11/09/2020 10:58

If he does that, he should be put on the spot, as in:

I'm in favour of integrating migrants, whereas my opponent here prefers to cage their children.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/09/2020 11:23

And now Trump, who has been an anti-vaxxer for years, is claiming that Biden opposes the US getting a vaccine against covid.

sigh

Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, “should immediately apologize for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric that they’re talking right now, talking about endangering lives, and it undermines science” apparently -- for saying they want to be sure before they advocate any vaccine that it is both safe and effective.

Lweji · 11/09/2020 11:28

He wants the Russian vaccine, doesn't he?

Heffalooomia · 11/09/2020 11:40

I hope trump gets the Russian vaccine.... I hope he gets a dose of the untested Russian vaccine

user1471565182 · 11/09/2020 12:25

Be funny to see how all the recent Q anon anti vax nutters hes been picking up lately explain this one away.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/09/2020 13:00

If leading pharmaceutical companies are refusing to play his political game, the inadequately-tested Russian vaccine looks ever more likely, doesn't it.

I shall be seriously pissed off if he has that and dies of Covid before answering for any of his crimes.

I do in fact find it reassuring that the Oxford/AstraZeneca stage 3 trial was suspended a couple of months ago because of a case of meningitis (no correlation was found) and now again because of one subject in the UK, presumably someone given the vaccine in April or May because the test subjects are now elsewhere in the world, having developed transverse myelitis -- that is what is supposed to be done during proper testing, even if it is hard lines on the Brazilian and American volunteers who are being given the vaccine for the third part of the trial.

PerkingFaintly · 11/09/2020 13:04

Boggle! As you say, good on the pharma companies. Not words I'm used to uttering.

Heffalooomia · 11/09/2020 13:22

Pharma companies understand what he is doing will hurt their reputation and long-term profits
Other bodies will feel the same and start turning against him

'Kelly Ferro is a busy mom on her way to the post office: leather mini-backpack, brunet topknot, turquoise pedicure with a matching ombré manicure. A hairdresser from Kenosha, Wis., Ferro didn’t vote in 2016 but has since become a strong supporter of Donald Trump. “Why does the news hate the President so much?” she says. “I went down the rabbit hole. I started doing a lot of research.”'

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/09/2020 16:01

Kelly Ferro is absolutely right when she says "we're living in an alternate reality" -- she certainly is.
