To ask if you can name this card game?

The object is simply to get rid of your cards, and catch your opponents with as many points as possible. You start with 7 cards and a face-down deck of the rest in the middle. You play it like rummy, trying to get runs or 3/4 of a kind, but you put them down as you go, and other people can add to yours, for example if you put down 4,5,6 of hearts, someone else can add 7 of hearts when it's their turn, as long as they have put down a run or set already.

You pick up at the beginning and discard at the end of your go, but when you discard, you overlap the cards so you can see the discard pile. When it's your go, you can pick up any in the discard pile but you have to take all the cards on top of it as well.

I'm sure the name is a long word, but I can't remember it! Help!

@timesareachanging

Switch?
That doesn't sound like Switch (or what i know of Switch) you don't need to get runs in Switch, just get rid of your cards

FlamedToACrisp · 28/08/2020 16:00

Nope - none of the above - or at least, that's not the name I'm trying to remember. Sad

I can’t spell it but Kaluki?

Yellowcar2 · 28/08/2020 16:01

We play a game very similar to this. We call it Benny's but you have 13 cards not seven and a few more rules such as not being able to put runs down unless they initially add up to 40. Great game I love it.

LutherRalph1 · 28/08/2020 16:01

VoldemortsMaid · 28/08/2020 16:02

My DD and I play this all the time it's her fave!

She just calls it 'Pick Up'

RevolutionRadio · 28/08/2020 16:03

Go fish was similar

Monr0e · 28/08/2020 16:03

I used to play this with my gran, any cards you played were scored and added up at the end. If you were left holding cards, their value would be deducted from your score. We would play for hours.

She called it pookie.

Arcadia · 28/08/2020 16:03

Racing demon?

MillyMollyFarmer · 28/08/2020 16:06

It does sound like gin rummy... now I want to know what it is!

FlamedToACrisp · 28/08/2020 16:11

You're right, @Monr0e now I think about it, that was the way we scored it.

Sounds like a game my sister calls blackjack (not the real 21/blackjack) do certain cards make you miss a go, change direction like UNO?
