www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/28/unions-call-for-teachers-in-england-to-be-able-to-wear-face-masks

Given that they have to be worn almost everywhere else indoors by over 11s it would be the right thing to do. Adults working in schools have as much right to be protected as bus drivers and shop workers.

So AIBU in agreeing with the NASUWT that masks should be worn in schools by over 11s?

Has

Myothercarisalsoshit · 29/07/2020 15:48

Thanks @Feenie - I haven't looked. It's bad enough having to see the twats on here! The tinhattery doesn't particularly surprise me though.

All sounds a bit sinister and extreme

I joined usforthem Scotland in the aftermath of John Swinney’s announcement of part time school for a year but I very quickly left. They are off their heads and there is a large element of anti vax nutjob types. They are not open to any compromise at all.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 15:57

The problem with some pressure groups is that they start out with good intentions but quickly attract the type of people which switch others off. This thread provides some evidence I guess.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 15:59

It was all to scare the sheeple into accepting mandatory vaccines only it worked too well and now the proles don’t want to go back to work and primark.

Or it’s that 5G.

Or people die every year. It’s no worse than a seasonal flu and they’ve been adding people who died from rtas to the figures.

Mostly easy to spot as it feels like a daily mail headline generator has entered the room and they never answer any questions or respond to your answers to their questions.

Intractable is correct. It’s a bit like trying to talk to a malfunctioning Alexa whilst pissed with a Scottish accent

SengaStrawberry · 29/07/2020 16:01

They were just not open to any kind of compromise at all. Personally although part time school for a year sounded atrocious I actually did and do think it would be the best thing at the outset as a sort of phased return for the benefit of the kids as much as anything else as well as seeing how it impacted the virus. It was very clear that this was not in keeping with the group aims and anything other than the aim of kids all back as normal right away was shouted down.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/07/2020 16:01

It’s hard enough pissed with a neutral mid England accen. I’ve had practice Wink

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 16:03

I have just seen the Evening Standard headline which states ‘second wave could hit school return’

Feeling depressed at that. I fear we may have blended learning.

I would be happy to open with masks then to teach online for another few weeks

Feenie · 29/07/2020 16:05

I've seen a post claiming that MN is just an 'echo chamber of shite', which in the context of just 2500 posters all clamouring that the scientific evidence for COVID transmission is invented is actually hilarious. Grin

Senga actually I’d clocked your username as one of those posters and was surprised to see you posting more reasonably recently. If you joined then left, then it all makes sense :)

Em thanks...I think? Grin

I like to think I’m more down the middle but open to sensible points from all sides...

DomDoesWotHeWants · 29/07/2020 16:21

I'm glad MN are deleting the blatent lies but it's several months too late as far as I'm concerned. They've ignored the hate campaign aimed at teachers for too long.

I expect teachers feel very let down.

Which is why we started the republic

mumsneedwine · 29/07/2020 16:55

The chief of the BMA has said today that wearing masks is a very good idea. Sure some parents still know better than him though.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 29/07/2020 16:59

😂

DomDoesWotHeWants · 29/07/2020 17:11

Usforthem think they do, for sure.

Embarrassing.

I was just reading my local town FB page and people are coordinating a project to sew masks for students, ready for when school goes back. These are in addition to the masks that the school will provide to all staff/students.

Kidneybingo · 29/07/2020 17:24

Maybe some of the strongly anti-teachers have done me a favour. I think I might be able to put my job into perspective more from September to be honest. I've always let it rule my life probably to an unhealthy degree.

Perfect lobster. They are so valiant in their generous willingness to sacrifice us.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 29/07/2020 19:01

*FrippEnos

Yup, completely wrong in my case.

As for winning. There is no winning its the internet.*

I wouldn't have said you were completely wrong, but I certainly don't agree with you.

Oh there are definitely people who think they are winning on this thread. You being one. Just look at the sanctimonious, sarcastic replies to people on this thread, just because they have a different opinion. Telling others they are uneducated is just embarrassing really. Makes those posters look like complete knobs.

Anyway I'm on holiday now. Happy arguing.
