Today me and a friend are going to a near by city for shopping and lunch.
She asks me to book somewhere for lunch last week.
I asked her what type of food she wanted and she said "pub grub"
So I found a place and booked it.
She asked to see the menu
It has bangers n mash/fish and chips/all day breakfast/burgers /mince n dumplings etc
Plus sandwiches /toasties/wraps and salads
Her response "hmm is that the whole menu"
I said yes ..
She said there's not much on ?
I said to her you said you wanted pub grub
She replied "there's no jacket potatoes "
I said "you said pub grub"
She said "yes nice pub grub"
So I said ..ok what meal do you fancy ?
She said "I don't really know,pub grub"
So I said ..ok well why don't you have a look because I've spent all week looking and you can't decide.
She replied
"No need to be arsey,I told you pub grub"
Aibu here to think she's a bit annoying ?

Your friend is the arsed one 🤣

GreyishDays · 23/07/2020 09:40

Depends on tone of voice. Was this in person or text? If by text you need a smiley.

Governoress86 · 23/07/2020 09:42

yanbu she is being too picky. If she wanted something specific then she should of said but instead she just said pub grub.

Cant be doing with people that say you pick or you book somewhere and then get arsey because its not what they wanted.

Lobelia123 · 23/07/2020 09:42

She sounds very tedious.

nestisflown · 23/07/2020 09:43

Yanbu

Nottobesoldseparately · 23/07/2020 09:43

Your friend is a dickhead, if she's that bothered about the menus, she should have done her own research.

geereer · 23/07/2020 09:43

Honestly I've spent all week finding places and her moaning.
She can't be bothered to look herself.

She seems like hard work.

Maybe say something like 'And I found a place that does pub grub. If you aren't happy with it, I'm totally fine with you choosing somewhere that you'd prefer. Let me know if you do, so I can cancel the booking'

ILiveInSalemsLot · 23/07/2020 09:46

She should’ve said she wanted somewhere that does jacket potatoes. Confused

HugeAckmansWife · 23/07/2020 09:46

why do you need to book anywhere for a pub lunch on a Thursday? Most places are happy to take walk ins now. She's being ridiculous.

Butchyrestingface · 23/07/2020 09:48

That was an inspired spacing/alignment choice for your OP.
I read it in my head just like a poem.

Anyway, your friend is being tedious.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 23/07/2020 09:50

I don't know anywhere accepting walk-ins in my area.

Topseyt · 23/07/2020 09:50

Can you really be arsed going to lunch with her? I couldn't.

Cancel it.

IsMiseMorag · 23/07/2020 09:53

Your friend is looking for a Spud-u-like, not a pub. [gavel[]

Flynn999 · 23/07/2020 09:55

I didn’t realise the benchmark of pub grub was jacket potato’s. You can go to a sandwich shop and get them 🤷‍♀️.

If I was you op I’d have said the exact same thing. If she wants to be a fussy sod let her pick.

InsertHilariousUserName · 23/07/2020 09:56

I bet you will get to a place with jacket potatoes, and she'll order fish and chips.

AliceinBunnyland · 23/07/2020 09:56

I would definitely not spend any time looking.

I wouldn't have even sent her the menu couldn't she look it up herself?

I'd tell her it's booked now, if she wants to find somewhere else then fine but she will have to find it and book it

geereer · 23/07/2020 09:57

Now this morning ..rather than get the train we should get a taxi as it's raining
(The train station is 5 min walk and £8 return )
Or taxi £50
Anyone want to come shopping and lunch ? No jacket pots allowed Grin

OP posts:
AliceinBunnyland · 23/07/2020 10:07

Does she mean a taxi to the train station? Do you live near one another?

I'd say I need to walk as I need some exercise so I'll meet you at the station. Is she looking for an excuse to cancel, maybe?

3cats · 23/07/2020 10:10

Sack her off. I couldn’t be arsed with all this.

SantaClaritaDiet · 23/07/2020 10:11

Your friend is ridiculous. If you are fussy, you look yourself. Don't go into any more effort if you like the look of that pub.

SantaClaritaDiet · 23/07/2020 10:12

rather than get the train we should get a taxi as it's raining
unless you are in a country I know nothing about, trains to have a roof and provide adequate shelter from the rain Grin

Muppetry76 · 23/07/2020 10:15

Fuck her off op. Pub should be quiet, take a book and enjoy your chicken in a basket by yourself!

HugeAckmansWife · 23/07/2020 10:16

blackandwhite I was in a city this weekend and we had dinner Fri, lunch Sat and Sun in pubs / cafes with no booking ahead. We'd booked saturday night but only because we wanted a particular place. Over the three days I'd say we were in 8 different places to eat or drink without needing to book, just gave our number at the entrance.

OP, tell her if she wants a £50 taxi that's fine but you'll meet her there - I think it sounds like this trip is doomed anyway!
