Ok, so I have been following SW for a week and have lost nothing! Exactly the same weight as last week. What am I doing wrong or does SW not suit everyone. Here is a typical SW day for me:-

Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled in Frylight, tomatoes and mushrooms fried in Frylight, slice of wholemeal bread from a small loaf (HexB), cup of tea with milk from allowance (HexA)

Lunch: Batchelors Pasta N Sauce Cheese & Broccoli made with water (2.5 syns), jacket potato and a huge salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, onions) balsamic vinegar

Dinner: Either syn free Quorn lasagne with HexA 30g cheddar cheese, salad and maybe syn free chips cooked in Airfryer or syn free Quorn curry and rice, or jacket potato with salad, or roast Quorn dinner with Frylight potatoes and loads of steamed vegetables

Snacks: Fruit, syn free homemade soup made with loads of speed veg, sometimes homemade crisps in AirFryer, Fage yoghurt with frozen fruit

Help! 😩

It just isn't for me.

You’ve been on it a week.

br1anmay · 07/07/2020 20:23

I lost over 2 stone 3 years ago with SW and have managed to keep it off. Whilst it's not for everyone, persevere for a few more weeks, reducing some of the 'unnecessary' components from your meals. E.g. have a baked potato or pasta, upping the speed foods on your plate. Good luck, I'm sure you can do it!

slashlover · 07/07/2020 20:25

On a normal day I wouldn't dream of having pasta and potatoes together but because I don't eat meat or fish and can't really use butter or cheese I'm stuck with cottage cheese or baked beans.

So you're eating more because you can? I have baked potatoes with
Chilli
Scoop out the middle and mix with cottage cheese and spring onions
Scoop out the middle and mix with tomatoes, peppers, onions and sweetcorn
Quark with a little bit of lemon juice, salt and pepper and random veg.

Well done 👍 nice legs
If you are truly wanting to give it a go op re read book and ask consultant to go over new member talk again. You seem to have decided not for you though.

Obviously everyone does own take on it I try and eat real food so no mug shots, muller lights etc.
I’ve had pasta tonight the roasted garlic and thyme mushroom pasta from SlimmingWorld passion for pasta book (really good). Weighed pasta and served on bed of spinach not with a jacket spud.
Never done online Cheaper option is pay weekly it’s £3.75 a week at minute plus £5 for books. I don’t understand bad press it gets on mumsnet. It worked for me 5 stone off in 8 months after years of being obese. I’m 45. If you want to diy rather than pay loads of info on Facebook eg SlimmingWorld for beginners or Instagram. Find people doing it similar way to you for ideas. I post all my food on my sw Instagram. I’m just eating nice normal healthy food.

Flibbitygibbit · 07/07/2020 20:36

Hey Op. my 5 friends and I have been doing SW forever. Everyone gained. All this eat as much pasta, potatoes etc NAH...... anyway the last month we have weighed once a week at one house. We have counted calories using Fitbit, MFP. We have lost between us TWO stone!!!!!!! We have stuck the fiver we would spend at SW in a tin. I've never lost on it. It's shite .

Flibbitygibbit · 07/07/2020 20:38

Also to add we exercise 3-4 times a week, walk run etc

Dixiechickonhols · 07/07/2020 20:39

You need to look at all P options in book OP as someone said earlier. You can have cheese every day I do. You get 2 healthy extra A use one for milk one for cheese. Follow some veggie or vegan sw accounts on Instagram for ideas.

To lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit. It's basic maths, eat less than you burn. If the calorie deficit is too big you'll end up hungry and binging so the deficit has to be manageable.
Join a proper group like Team RH or James Smith academy who are cheap, will help you get to your goals and get this will teach you how to maintain because they don't want repeat business and to keep fleecing you by selling a lie.

Do you mind me asking, are you a SW consultant?

Yes have heard of the Clean 9 - 9 days shitting through eye of a needle drinking overpriced aloe gloop sold by someone who's conned into thinking they're an "independent bizniz owner" for a thinly veiled pyramid cult. Unsustainable, unhealthy and unethical.

“Because so many friends have had success from it. It just isn't for me.“

It might not be, calorie counting for instance is usually better for people who want to eat more ready prepared stuff...

But what you’ve posted you’ve eaten isn’t how slimming world is supposed to work.

HavingAMoan · 07/07/2020 20:56

Do you mind me asking, are you a SW consultant?

Er...nope! Hmm

I just do it myself at home, own scales, don’t pay anyone. I’ve lost a stone and want to lose another half. That’s it.

But to do it properly you have to understand it. You can’t give a diet a go for a week and decide it’s not good, because you’ll be trying a different diet every week and claiming none of them work.

How may times do you see women saying I’ve tried every diet! All the time. How many of them have they stuck to for any length of time?

Don’t get me wrong, you do have to find what works for you. I couldn’t do the 5:2 as I can’t be hungry. I ended up with the shakes and it was awful. I also can’t calorie count as it’s fucking tedious.

I mean, you can do what you like obviously, but I think SW hasn’t worked because you’ve tried for a week and haven’t done it correctly. Once you get your head round it it’s easier. Doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for you. 🤷‍♀️

blue25 · 07/07/2020 20:56

What kind of diet encourages you to eat Batchelors Pasta N Sauce Cheese & Broccoli? It’s just crap food with absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever. Eat healthy foods-loads of veg, nuts, fish etc.

OP, are you actually going to a class, seeing a consultant, filling in a food diary and did you have the welcome talk?

I think it's just too complicated for me and extremely time consuming. Thank you so much everyone, especially the kind messages Grin I'm off to My Fitness Pal and I'm going to lay off the carbs too.

Why 3 eggs? That is a lot and why pasta and a jacket potatoe? Also eat more fruit and veg and drink water not tea and more exercise

It doesn't encourage it, it has food like that as an option. SW includes veg, fruit, lean meat, pasta, rice etc. However, it also allows some processed food because that's what a lot of people are used to. When I first started, I didn't cook at all and it would have been a massive jump to start cooking completely from scratch for every meal. I still don't enjoy cooking but I batch cook and get it over with in one day.

Haenow · 07/07/2020 21:02

I don’t follow SW (I’ve sworn off official diets) but I roughly follow the principles - limit cheese and milk, limit fibre e.g. oats and wholemeal bread, the occasional treat e.g. chocolate, always go for fruit and veg as a snack, ensure I replace what I would eat with at least a third of my plate with veg.

Batchelor’s is fine for a day when you really cannot be arsed or you’re out of food. I’ve had it occasionally, ended up chopping in additional veg and maybe some chicken, it’s enough for 2. Your example lunch is what I ate before I started eating healthily.

Haenow · 07/07/2020 21:05

If you’re the type of person to have 3 eggs, cut out 1 egg and replace that with veggies. Adding veggies to the 3 eggs just adds calories.

Crazycrazylady · 07/07/2020 21:45

Holy Moley!!

That's a lot of food for when your not on a diet.. who the flip has chips as a snack when you're trying to loose weight😮

I think you don't seem like be able to cope with free foods so if I were you. I'd download mfp app and count all your calories and try and stay below 1200 per day. Most people will lose about a pound a week at that rate.

healthylifestylee · 07/07/2020 21:52

Works to an extent

But they teach nothing about portion control and a healthy balanced diet

Their wording of syns always suggests to me that those foods are bad and that's not the case

Logically
Calorie deficit = weight loss

ivykaty44 · 07/07/2020 22:16

But they teach nothing about portion control and a healthy balanced diet

They suggest dividing plate into 3 for vegetables protein and carbs, but many seem to miss this part consistently
