To think that Slimming World just doesn't work

Ok, so I have been following SW for a week and have lost nothing! Exactly the same weight as last week. What am I doing wrong or does SW not suit everyone. Here is a typical SW day for me:-

Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled in Frylight, tomatoes and mushrooms fried in Frylight, slice of wholemeal bread from a small loaf (HexB), cup of tea with milk from allowance (HexA)

Lunch: Batchelors Pasta N Sauce Cheese & Broccoli made with water (2.5 syns), jacket potato and a huge salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, beetroot, onions) balsamic vinegar

Dinner: Either syn free Quorn lasagne with HexA 30g cheddar cheese, salad and maybe syn free chips cooked in Airfryer or syn free Quorn curry and rice, or jacket potato with salad, or roast Quorn dinner with Frylight potatoes and loads of steamed vegetables

Snacks: Fruit, syn free homemade soup made with loads of speed veg, sometimes homemade crisps in AirFryer, Fage yoghurt with frozen fruit

Help! 😩

I notice all the dissing of fry lite but it was on one of the factory programmes and there's nothing artificial in it, there's an extract from sunflowers that make the oil and water emulsion.

For me slimming world has worked well when I have a few stone to lose, but when I get closer to a healthy weight, I have to use calorie counting.

ivykaty44 · 10/07/2020 18:08

claireb707 If you really believe what you written about fruit then so be it, but try watching sugar the bitter truth on YouTube and his explination of what the differences are then hopefully It’ll make sense why I strongly disagree with you

RiverCrossing · 10/07/2020 20:17

OP has ignored questions about if she’s actually going to group and getting guidance from a consultant - the referencing red/green days and lunch ideas from a ten year old magazine is an indication they are not going to the group. No plan is going to work if you don’t understand it, if you want to try slimming world OP then find a local one and start there.

Dixiechickonhols · 10/07/2020 21:10

Rivercrossing Fact OP had packet pasta on her jacket spud as she ‘couldn’t’ have cheese is a giveaway not on current plan. Even if you drink milk as one healthy A you can use second Healthy A for 30g cheddar/40g reduced fat cheddar, plenty grated on a jacket spud for lunch.

Davincitoad · 10/07/2020 21:38

The whole syns syn frrr is a joke. If a good is free and you eat a shit load calories are still there!

HavingAMoan · 10/07/2020 21:54

@zingally

I've never done Slimming World, but that looks a HUGE amount of food OP! And very carb-heavy.

I'm also dieting at the mo, and my eating for today is:

Breakfast - One hard-boiled egg, one banana and a 200ml glass of orange juice.
Snack - coffee with a sweetener and a dash of milk, 2 bourbon biscuits.
Lunch - Piece of cheese/a babybel and a cup-a-soup.
Dinner - Rice, half a chicken breast, and some other vegetable.
Supper - small bowl of icecream or an apple.

How is that a good diet? It’s just small portions of rubbish.
uselessdiyer · 10/07/2020 22:07

Been following slimming world for years initially to lose 2 stone and then I carried on with the meals. It works brilliantly for me, I'm now 8 and a half stone and maintain it well, I don't lose much weight now as I don't want to and I treat myself at weekends. It's also worked very well for everyone I know that's tried it.

uselessdiyer · 10/07/2020 22:09

Just to add, I know they say you can, but try not eating carbs for dinner, I never did. Try something lighter like salads/soups for lunch instead and see if that makes any difference?

BIWI · 10/07/2020 22:10

You do realise, @uselessdiyer that salad and your soups also have carbs in them?!

Chickychoccyegg · 10/07/2020 22:21

Think it's been established op hasn't been to slimming world and is following an out of date plan (only scanned the thread)
I've recently lost 6.5 stone with sw, i didn't do anything stupid or faddy, lots of veg, some fruit, cooking healthy, filling meals from scratch, no muller lights and no sw branded products, which were never pushed in any way, it can work, as long as people are sensible, don't have pasta , baked potato and salad for lunch, its too much, its always been 1/3 plate speed food, thats not a new thing, it gets harder the closer you get to target, and of course doing some exercise will help

Seriously79 · 10/07/2020 22:41

It never worked for me either, but my
Mum is still keeping off 4 stone 20 years later. I find WW is much better x

TheoneandObi · 11/07/2020 10:30

SW worled for me and embedded some good habits once I reached target weight. For example I go easy on bread and cheese now rather than treating g them as fiid groups in themselves (I jest), also I literally never drink juice. Waste of liquid calories and I don't miss it anyway. I drink far less alcohol. I used to kid myself about those calories. And I fill my plates with far more veg which is obv a good thing to do

Madein1995 · 11/07/2020 14:33

How are you doing op?

biddybird · 11/07/2020 15:31

I did it many years ago and lost 2 stone in three months (after which I was at a "healthy weight"). I wouldn't do it again as I don't think getting into the habit of eating gargantuan portions of tasteless food is a good long-term strategy.

I still shudder whenever I see a Mueller Light!

PoloNeckKnickers · 11/07/2020 15:38

I loved the plan while I was doing it but that was back in the days of Red/Green. Not being able to have cereal in the morning then a sandwich at lunch would make it hard for me now. I remember at my first meeting, we were told that if we were on a Red day, we could eat a whole chicken. I mean, who does that?!
I do think that SW is round the twist, but most of the bonkers recipes aren't official. A woman at the meeting I attended used to go on about her chickpea muffins and cauliflower pizza base Confused

Allnamesaregone · 12/07/2020 00:30

And cauliflower rice!
I went through a phase of that, but these days just prefer to put more veg IN the curry.

Barrowmanfan22 · 12/07/2020 00:54

Assuming this post is genuine...

This sounds like a lot of food, and the wrong types. I'm not sure I understand a food being 'free,' regardless of quantity Confused

Babyg1995 · 12/07/2020 09:46

I would gain weight on that amount of food way too much I did slimming world years ago everyone there was really overweight and had been going for years think I lost around 3 lb in 6 weeks following it there's was just too much carbs and sugar to lose alot .

Toomanycats99 · 20/07/2020 22:12

Just seen this which made me think of this thread...

To think that Slimming World just doesn't work
