(LIGHT HEARTED)

Just that really.

I think my favourite was fairly recently - CV related and one of the first responses to was “You dh is literally trying to kill you” (along the lines of not wearing a mask in the shops).

OP posts:

@GoldenOmber

I once grumbled about DH nicking my morning lie-in when I was up with the toddler at dawn, and someone asked why people like me even bothered to have children. Personally I only had children so I had an excuse to watch Hey Duggee but I could see some people with nobler reasons being very hurt by that.
Spits out tea laughing.

(Ngl, I did actually laugh out loud at that one.)

IagoWithABlackberry · 03/07/2020 17:44

In response to "Why did you even bother having kids?" I once answered "Organ harvesting."
It was probably a good thing that I wasn't on MN at that point.

I want to know what love is. I know you can show me.

There's a thread at the moment where OP has received a generous leaving present - a £1K (I know, right!) voucher for a wine merchant. She's been trying to stop drinking as it messes with her head and wanted to know what she should do about the voucher. I didn't read that much, but saw a response saying "I would never accept a leaving present - I'm paid for my work, it's not voluntary." Grin

Sammysamsa · 03/07/2020 18:43

Ltb for something so mild.

locked2020 · 03/07/2020 19:11

Sometimes a poster will ask about dealing with a situation about a difficult person. If they mention a potentially irrelevant detail e.g. it's a woman or an elderly person, the thread gets derailed by numerous posters asking why they mentioned such a detail and calling them ageist or sexist etc.

I once posted a thread about being upset that my son had an accident and was left in his faeces at nursery until I could rush home from work...I was reported by posters for being a poo troll (wtf?) and my thread got taken down until mnhq could look at it and reinstate it!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 03/07/2020 19:36

Ooh, I’ve remembered another one where the responses were utterly batshit. It turned out to be a troll, but I think it kind of backfired, as rather than saying ‘OMG of course you’re being unreasonable!!!’, a hell of a lot of people actually agreed with the (fake) OP!

The situation was she was divorced, had one child with first husband, one with second. She was going on holiday with husband and kids to Disneyworld and her ex-husband had offered to pay to send his younger daughter - so NOT the OP’s daughter - with them. Husband, surprisingly enough, thought this was barmy.

I read the thread expecting everyone to tell the OP it was ridiculous and that of course no man would want to take his wife’s ex-husband’s unrelated child on holiday abroad. But a disturbing number of replies suggested he was somewhere between mean and downright abusive for not doing so. ‘I couldn’t bear to think of that little angel missing out on the trip of a lifetime’. ‘What’s wrong with your DH? Doesn’t he like being kind?’ One woman said even she’d seriously consider leaving him Shock

It made me worry about some of these people being allowed internet access.

shinynewapple2020 · 03/07/2020 21:26

@Cocolapew

Oh and on one totally innocuous thread someone replied to me and said that I was a terrible mother to my DDs and she hoped they died of cancer because that would teach me a lesson.
@Cocolapew - have I understood this right? somebody actually said they hoped your DDs would die ? ShockShockSad. I think that's the worst thing I've ever read on here.
DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 03/07/2020 21:40

I had someone tell me that I should never have had more children after 2 of my children died, from totally unrelated things, they said they thought I was disgusting and had a genetic default, and when other posters defended me and said that poster would get banned, they would keep registering to follow me around the site and tell me I was awful for having more kids.

That was fun 😳

frog22 · 03/07/2020 21:46

I was reported by posters for being a poo troll (wtf?)

Why does everyone on mumsnet always think there are trolls wanting to talk about poo? I've genuinely never heard of such a thing until
I joined MN!

darkcaramel · 03/07/2020 21:56

There are frog I am afraid!

pictish · 03/07/2020 22:02

I’m with the mn massive on that one...there are people out there who post on here to talk about shit...as in actual faecal matter. They get a kick out it. Odd but there you go.

pictish · 03/07/2020 22:03

Ergo ‘poo troll’.

frog22 · 03/07/2020 22:03

I've lived a sheltered life lol 😂

UmbrellaHat · 03/07/2020 22:10

Me too -had no idea!!!

pictish · 03/07/2020 22:26

Yup they will paint a scenario somehow relating to shit, then sit back as mumsnet innocently respond with stories also relating to shit because they want to help with the shit problem.
It’s a total shitshow. One very happy poo troll.

Oh no.

Llamazoom · 03/07/2020 22:28

The constant wanting to report people for anything and everything, bar child or animal abuse I keep my nose out of other people’s business. I couldn’t give a shit the hairdresser living over the road was having clients visit through lockdown, I don’t care, not my business. Lots of busy bodies on here.

Does anybody’s child only drink water; really???

Milk isn’t for children.

Also the ‘my DH wouldn’t do that’ to cheating, gambling, drink driving, escorts, cam girls, the list goes on, err yes he might.

darkcaramel · 03/07/2020 22:29

Yeah and to be fair I’m sure some are genuine, usually in say health asking or worrying about unusual bowel movements I tend to think it’s all right. It is the people who post in chat/aibu with convoluted stories about shitting themselves that tend to be the poo troll.

Cocolapew · 03/07/2020 22:35

@shinynewapple2020 yes that's right. The poster just appeared on the thread to say that, then when challenged by another poster told them to fuck off then disappeared again. It was a thread with only about 4 or 5 people on it, we weren't taking about anything controversial at all.

locked2020 · 03/07/2020 22:42

Oh, and on a genuine note (please no OTT responses!), I use a loo brush. What is the holy grail of toilet cleaning that doesn't get your hands dirty?!

AlternativePerspective · 03/07/2020 22:43

I think the pooh troll was first unmasked when someone posted that they had shat themselves in the loos at king’s cross station I think it was, and that they were stuck in there obviously. A poster actually showed up with some clean underwear etc and obviously there was no-one there....

locked2020 · 03/07/2020 22:47

There are some truly horrific things on this thread.

@cocolapew and @difficultpifficult
absolutely disgusted you were treated like that

Llamazoom · 03/07/2020 22:49

@locked2020 I don’t have a loo brush, nothing to do with MN, just don’t like them, bleach dissolves skid marks in minutes. MN massive doesn’t like bleach (environment) so I have no idea how they get rid of their skid marks out of their loos.

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/07/2020 22:50

There are some very weird trolls.
Poo trolls, pants trolls, there was a boxroom troll, oh and a weird ugg boot troll.
People are strange.

CassandraCross · 03/07/2020 22:51

@Changeofsceneryisgood

One recently where OPs dog had pushed a deer leg then a cow ear through neighbours fence and neighbour had screamed. Would I have screamed? Probably. Was it funny? Yes!

The responses OP got was like she'd sawed off the deer's legs and pushed them in the garden herself, whilst wearing the head of the deer.
The responses added to the comedy.

Oh yes, agree with you completely.
