(LIGHT HEARTED)

Just that really.

I think my favourite was fairly recently - CV related and one of the first responses to was “You dh is literally trying to kill you” (along the lines of not wearing a mask in the shops).

OP posts:
PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 07:25

Who named the poster @darkcaramel

darkcaramel · 02/07/2020 07:48

AFs name is everywhere!

PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 07:51

Yes but she is not the poster who posted the crazy comment being referred to, she was the subject of the thread on which the crazy comment was posted so she isn’t being called out in any way.

darkcaramel · 02/07/2020 07:53

True, but there is derision there and it isn’t particularly pleasant to read.

PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 07:58

Ok, I don’t see it myself. I do on the other hand openly admit that I deride the comparison to Rosa Parkes, still didn’t name the person that said it though.

pictish · 02/07/2020 08:06

The posts aren’t derisive of AF but of the mumsnetters who launched a campaign to have her reinstated.

AF won’t mind being named at all anyway. She’s pretty au fait with being focused on for good or bad. Her posting style invites attention and unsurprisingly she gets it.

I think she’s a great poster but she’s not Rosa Parks.

darkcaramel · 02/07/2020 08:07

Whatever do you mean, she’s her very image Grin

Sorry, probably read it wrong. Bad night. Brew?

PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 08:12

No worries @darkcaramel

doingitforthefrill · 02/07/2020 08:14

Love this thread Grin

I once made the mistake of posting about MIL in AIBU - The amount the hate and abuse I got for it was ridiculous. Just before we went into lockdown we chose as a family to self isolate, I was pregnant and we already had 2 young children and we just wanted to make sure we were staying as safe as possible, MIL worked as a nurse and was then looking after patients with coronavirus. MIL asked to come over and got the hump when we said we would prefer not to take the chance and got very nasty to just me and said very hurtful personal things that I’ll never forgive her for. MN posters laid into me saying I was being rude for trying to protect my family and I was out of order for basically not wanting to expose them to someone potentially infected Hmm

LunaNorth · 02/07/2020 08:16

The pissed friends in the garden thread in active convos has some absolute doozies on it.

It’s got it all - accusations of homophobia, lockdown hysteria, the lot.

Poor woman.

choli · 02/07/2020 08:17

@WindsorBlues

The recent Handmaids Tale thread where posters said whether they'd be a handmaid, aunt, jezabel or econwive.

Most people liked to think they'd be part of the resistance..... I highly doubt that considering the amount of people on here telling tales on their neighbours during lockdown.

It really was disgusting. I didn't see that sort of attitude here in Massachusetts. The whole Report Your Neighbor thing was very 1984, and I was surprised how many on MN were so gleefully compliant with that.
PopsicleHustler · 02/07/2020 08:19

Women advising other women to LTB Over small trivial things. 'he refuses to wash up' * etc. Just makes me laugh

TJ17 · 02/07/2020 08:23

OP describes her close friends of over 15 years who were staying over at her house as "a gay couple" and gets called a homophobe 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 02/07/2020 08:24

That I shouldn’t post on MN due to my dyslexia Confused

Haha also just posted about this one. If I had a pound for every time bubble is mentioned in that thread 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
LunaNorth · 02/07/2020 08:31

Some people on there are chatting bubbles alright...

LunaNorth · 02/07/2020 08:32

‘They sound vile and you sound thick.’

Lovely.

MadamShazam · 02/07/2020 08:45

Oh the thread last week with the OP saying she loved her dog a bit less now she had a child. It brought out the most mental responses I have ever seen. She was called everything under the sun, and folk saying that they loved their pets EXACTLY THE SAME IF NOT MORE THAN their children. Fucking hell, it was carnage 🤣

PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 08:49

Years ago there was a thread where a poster said they loved their dog more than their kids and would save it before them in a house fire.

Cadent · 02/07/2020 08:49

@MadamShazam I didn’t comment on that thread but I did find the OP odd. The love for pets vs children is very different so I’m not sure why you would even compare them. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was some abuse of a pet in that situation.

PablosHoney · 02/07/2020 08:53

There are some doozies in the current human race should die out thread, plenty of people prepared to die and take their families with them for the sake of the earth..

ShebaShimmyShake · 02/07/2020 08:57

I didn't even look at the kids v pets thread because the whole premise looked loopy. I'm one of those people who gets very sloppy and silly about pets but surely the normal answer is: you love your animals as much as before, but you love your children more and in a very different way?

I'm guessing not. I'll stay away.

pictish · 02/07/2020 09:01

“ The whole Report Your Neighbor thing was very 1984, and I was surprised how many on MN were so gleefully compliant with that.”

I wasn’t surprised. This place is packed with nosey, self important reporters.
It’s quite life affirming in a sense because it makes me feel glad not to be one.

Charleyhorses · 02/07/2020 09:11

I do often ponder, after being on mn, exactly where and how the good people who answer the 101 calls file and store "I have looked at ring doorbell footage from 3 days ago and someone walked past my door at 4.15" or "My next door neighbour has thrown some sticks into my garden" or indeed "My neighbours are noisy"
I mean is there some vast database somewhere that in centuries to come will form the basis of studies of social history of our time?

WhereILiveIsWhereIStay · 02/07/2020 09:13

@Cadent I would be very, very surprised if saying you love your child more than your dog indicates you're abusing the dog.

Or are you taking the mick and giving an example of the batshit MN responses that are being discussed here? Smile
