Some clips from the Chris Wallace interview linked in this Twitter thread.
(Advance warning for Trumpophobes)

twitter.com/atrupar/status/1284838878185246720?s=21

WALLACE: "How will you regard your years as POTUS?"

TRUMP: "I think I was very unfairly treated."

WALLACE: "But what about the good parts?"

TRUMP: "I have done more than any POTUS in history in the first 3.5 years ... here's the bottom line: I've been very unfairly treated."

clips from the Chris Wallace interview
check out the huge font writing on the sheet of paper they hand him!

Roussette · 19/07/2020 18:17

I've seen quite a few clips from this (the cognitive test bit was funny.... Trumps says the questions got hard at the end and Chris Wallace wouldn't be able to do it)

Basically Biden just needs to make sure this interview is repeated incessantly because he looks and acts like a fool from what I've seen

BruceAndNosh · 19/07/2020 19:44

His crowing about that (mythical) cognitive test is hysterical.
"Doctors were amazed".... So they obviously thought you would fail... Wonder why.
And then he implies that he passed it much better than most people. It's a bloody cognitive test! Either you remember the time on the clock you were shown, or you don't. If most people with decent brain function remember 6.05, just how are you meant to better that?
Eejit.

The notable thing about this is that he's blocking funding that's supported by HIS OWN PARTY.

I am hearing from more and more Republican friends who say they're about to vote Democrat for the first time in their lives.

I know what an elephant looks like!!!! I must be a very stable genius myself!!

I've watched a few clips but there is no way I'd be able to watch the whole thing. The sound of his voice is fingernails on a blackboard and just the sight of his face enrages me these days. Honestly, I don't remember ever having such a viscerally negative reaction to another human being before. I think it may be because the election is drawing closer so my tolerance level is dropping.

Interesting youtube clip cozie Trump the liar.

Last night on BBC there was an interesting programme called 'Trump in Tweets' starting off from before he was elected. It was interesting and horrific as I was reminded how the momentum of Trump was built.
www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/mg8m4g/trump-in-tweets/

It was then followed up with a programme made by Emily Maitlis (she was the journalist who did the interview with Prince Andrew) on Trump the All American Billionaire. It was made in 2010 and focuses on how he upset Scotland with his golf course, his extravagent lifestyle and his family. Too tired to stay awake but might watch on catch-up, only because Emily is worth watching.

lionheart · 20/07/2020 13:19

I couldn't bear to watch the BBC reports.

Here is something on the Rep. John Lewis replacement:

For all his insistence that he is cognitively perfect, I'm pretty sure if (When, please God, WHEN!) he gets voted out in November, and

finally he is called to account for his dishonesty, there will be a convenient sudden decline in his faculties rendering him "incapable" of answering any charges against him, either ethical or criminal.
A bit like Harvey Weinstein... one minute he's chasing women round his casting couch, the next he's shuffling on a Zimmer frame

This is awful but I hope it is not connected to her profession:

www.ft.com/content/fb7f9d30-03f1-45ef-818f-ec22c68eab44

'A gunman shot and killed the son of a federal judge overseeing a lawsuit against Deutsche Bank linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The FBI on Sunday said it was investigating the shooting at the New Jersey home of Judge Esther Salas, which also resulted in injuries to her husband.

Last week Judge Salas, who was not hurt in the assault, had been assigned to oversee a lawsuit filed by investors against Deutsche Bank. They alleged that the bank had made false and misleading statements with regards to its anti-money laundering practices and had improperly monitored high-risk customers including the late Epstein.'

Authorities have not linked the shooting to the Deutsche Bank case. The FBI did not offer any motive for the attack but said it was looking for “one subject” in the case.'

Roussette · 20/07/2020 13:58

I read the story, and I think their 20 yr old son was shot and killed? The husband was injured and she was in the basement and safe .

AcrossthePond55 · 20/07/2020 14:56

Not sure if this has been covered:

www.motherjones.com/anti-racism-police-protest/2020/07/trump-border-patrol-cities-portland-chicago/

Another source says that the cities Scrotus mentioned all 'just happen' to be run by Democrat mayors.

I guess it's "Release the Sturmabteilung" time in Scrotus-world.

Portland is frightening.

Roussette -- I think her husband is a defence lawyer.

the gunman would be working for Jizzstain Maxwell then?

One of DH's brothers lives in the Portland area - he said there was a naked protester a couple of days ago!

Must be this person...

Sooo... a change of tack?

Trump said he would resume his coronavirus briefings, likely starting tomorrow. Trump held daily briefings at the start of the coronavirus crisis, but the briefings attracted widespread criticism because of the president’s frequent false and misleading claims about the pandemic.

And...

Trump tweets photo of himself wearing face mask

The president has tweeted a photo of himself wearing a face mask, after weathering months of criticism for not publicly embracing masks as a means of limiting the spread of coronavirus.

“We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance,” Trump said in a tweet. “There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!”

Could this be his last chance indeed? And, if so, will he grab it or crash it?

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/07/16/this-is-trumps-last-chance-he-probably-doesnt-even-know-it/

"President Trump’s precipitous drop in the polls is due to his mishandling of the two crises that define 2020: the novelcoronavirusand the killing of George Floyd. The recent surge in coronavirus cases presents him with his last — and probably only — chance to reverse that decline. The pity for Republicans is that his character likely makes him unable to discern this, much less respond favorably"

HoldMyLobster · 20/07/2020 22:36

What really strikes me is that coronavirus could have been a vote winner for Trump if he'd handled it well.

He would have had to take the long view that an early, hard lockdown was the right thing to do regardless of what it did to the economy or his ratings.

He would have had to allow the CDC to make decisions based on science, and worked much more effectively on getting the states what they needed. He already ploughed a huge amount of cash into the economy - I'm not sure he needed to do any more there.

He would have taken a HUGE amount of flak while the economy crashed, the stock market tanked, and people expressed their resentment at being forced to stay home. He'd have hated being unpopular, and he'd have had to hold tight through that period.

By now, if the US had done it right, Covid would be well under control, the economy would be almost all the way to reopening, and businesses would have been able to restart.

People would be grudgingly saying 'Hey, he did a good job. Things are getting better.'

I say all this because this is what some of the state governors chose to do. They took so much flak for it - a month ago Trump was referring to the governor of Maine as a 'dictator'. Now in Maine life is almost back to normal - there's still some social distancing, and we have to wear masks, but we go out shopping, eating, drinking, see friends, go to the gym... and we don't catch Covid in the process.

Our company has outlets all over the east coast of the US, and the ones in the states that reopened carefully (against Trump's advice) are the ones that are by far doing the best.

Our outlets in the Carolinas and Florida are tanking, and we can see no end to it.

I don't see now how Trump can pull things back in time now - he will have to force people to go through the required pain to control Covid, before they can get to the point of enjoying the reopening process, and he needs to do that before the election. He's going into the election while presiding over a big fat failure.
