To think the whole point of pick 'n' mix is that you PICK it?

It's not often that I click an advert I see on Facebook, but one flashed up today for pick 'n' mix. Given the travesty that followed, I won't bother naming the company.

Anyway, it's been a long time since I had pick 'n' mix and I'm quite partial to cola bottles. So I followed the link, already mentally planning what I'm going to choose. I clicked the Start Order button. And was utterly confused to be presented with just 5 options - things like "Fizzies mix" and "Jellies mix". It seems this company only sells PRE-MIXED pick 'n' mix! AIBU to think this defeats the entire point? You might as well just buy a bag of Haribo!

I miss Woolworths...

I miss Woolworths pick and mix and YANBU. That's just mix and mix!

LittleMissNaice · 18/06/2020 21:27

Sweetzy is the place for you, OP.

tattychicken · 18/06/2020 21:29

Wilko's does ok pick and mix.

Starbuggy · 18/06/2020 21:32

You just have to use a different company where you do get to pick your own

I’ve been very happy with Eyecandy sweets during lockdown and got to choose my own

bookmum08 · 18/06/2020 21:32

If you miss Woolies pick n mix the type that Wilkos, B+M etc and supermarkets sell is pretty much the same brand. Just buy it there. Obviously not now as due to Covid the shops are not currently selling it but when everything is back to normal.
Pick n Mix isn't exactly hard to get hold of (in non covid times)!

DragonflyInn · 18/06/2020 21:37

YANBU at all. That’s just ‘mix’, surely!

PowerslidePanda · 18/06/2020 21:46

Thanks for the other suggestions! I've looked at Wilko before, but they didn't seem to have much variety compared to Woolies Sad

I clicked on the same ad and had the same thoughts. Sainsbury’s is delivering Tangfastics tomorrow 😋

vanillandhoney · 18/06/2020 21:59

One pound sweets is what you want!

Babypug · 18/06/2020 22:04

Go to a bigger Wilkinson's as they usually have as good as pick and mix as Woolworths 🙌🏼 I wasn't convinced but now I have found a good one and it's awesome

bookmum08 · 18/06/2020 22:06

Some of the sweets Woolies once sold simply don't exist anymore (nut crackle or whatever it was called) and they used to have branded sweets (Quality St etc) in there sometimes but the products sold today in most pick n mix are the same. They are (unless it has very recently changed) supplied by the same company that Woolies used at their end. They are called CandyKing. You can buy direct from them if you are that desperate.

HansBanans · 18/06/2020 22:07

Oh how I miss a good old Woolies pick n mix. Peanut brittle, those big jelly snakes, white jazzies. Yum!!!

LEELULUMPKIN · 18/06/2020 22:14

Milady Toffee in the blue and white wax wrapper. Strawberry & Lemon bonbons. I'm drooling now.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 18/06/2020 22:15

There is no Turkish Delight that tastes as good as the Woolies pick'n'mix.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 18/06/2020 22:16

I was put off by the same thing, so didn't go through with the purchase.

paperandfireworks · 18/06/2020 22:17

There seems to be a real influx of influencers on my feed promoting gifted boxes of fizzy sweets. So a box wrapped cardboard box of haribos and the like delivered to your door for £20. Ridiculous. Can't believe there is enough of a demand for so many people to have started this

beela · 18/06/2020 22:20

Ohh, woollies pick'n'mix. If I was having a bad day in my first job, I used to go at lunchtime and get some, and then pend the rest of the afternoon eating it at my desk. And then wonder why I got a massive headache and sugar crash at about 4pm.

Possiblywickedandlazy · 18/06/2020 22:22

Nowhere seems to sell pick & mix that comes anywhere close to Woolworths. I really miss theirs. Wilkos etc just aren’t anywhere near as good.

Sexykitten2005 · 18/06/2020 22:30

Sugarsin. Look them up on Facebook, they are a real store in London with photos of their displays and you write them an email having gone through each photo and telling them exactly what you want. A bit pricey but the best pick and mix ever.

bookmum08 · 18/06/2020 22:33

PositivelyWicked Wilkos Pick n Mix is the same brand that Woolies sold when they closed. It is. Really.

loopy42 · 18/06/2020 22:34

We're lucky here, we have a big independent pick and mix shop....yes a whole shop.

They have everything you could possibly want in your pick and mix including branded sweets/chocolates.

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 22:35

Wilko's pick and mix is literally just jellies. Different colours and shapes, but just jellies, and they're always sold out of the big snakes 🐍

Macarena1990 · 18/06/2020 22:36

No more pic n mix stands in poundland or wilkos - latest casualty of the corona virus. Presume you won't be able to get it in the cinema either.

Batinahat · 18/06/2020 22:36

Sweetzy are brilliant - lots of sweets to choose from and you choose exactly what you want. Pick and mix online and delivered to your door. Also delicious 😋

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/06/2020 22:36

I dont bother anymore. I used to try getting cola bottles but none beat HAribo and since they stopped selling them on their own I dont get my fix anymore. I am not buying a bag of grimness (fried eggs and smushy hearts) to get half a dozen cola bottles.

I am quite sad now.
