To think a demon has attacked me in my sleep

I woke up with three parallel scratch marks on my collarbone. Don't be silly, I hear you say, you just scratched yourself in your sleep. Except I have a horrible habit of biting my nails down to the quick, they are useless stubs that can't even scratch an itch when I want them to.

I have not been near any branches or pets with claws. The only logical conclusion is of course, a demon.

Am I doomed? This is how all the horror movies start isn't it?

Set a sage bush on fire in your bedroom - it’s your only hope. Added bonus: if your house burns down due to said sage bush it may well take the demon with it.

There is a simple test to see if the demon has infected your blood. Shine a torch against the back of your hand and fingers. If you see a red glow through your hand, kinda like the Ready Brek glow, then you’re fucked.

Definitely demonic in origin. Satan wants you for his bride op. All you have to do is find a nice priest willing to take your foul Hellish companion on board and chuck himself down some steps.

Maybe check your house for rats.
Or, you have a cat but don’t know it.

As a young man, my father had a Siamese cat that used to let itself into his neighbors' houses, hide in their drawers and eat their socks. I had a cat that used to hide in the spare bedroom in the early evening, reappearing at 3.00 a.m. to crawl across DMIL's face when she stayed with us. So just because you don't have a cat, doesn't mean it isn't a cat.

On the other hand don't read 'Casting the Runes' by MR James, the scene where he finds a face under his pillow will freak you out.

You'd be amazed how easy it can be to do yourself an injury in the night!

On holiday with my mum last year, I woke her up in the middle of the night because I was scratching my arms to pieces! Literally, arm up like a flag pole, proper going to town on it!

And a few months ago, I woke up to blood in my bed, to find that I'd taken a chunk out of my elbow overnight! Figured I'd whacked it on the bed post, but don't really know!
