To think a demon has attacked me in my sleep

I woke up with three parallel scratch marks on my collarbone. Don't be silly, I hear you say, you just scratched yourself in your sleep. Except I have a horrible habit of biting my nails down to the quick, they are useless stubs that can't even scratch an itch when I want them to.

I have not been near any branches or pets with claws. The only logical conclusion is of course, a demon.

Am I doomed? This is how all the horror movies start isn't it?

The mark of three...beware.

AreYouLocal2 · 15/06/2020 21:24

Are you involved in any occult practices? My late grandmother used to love going to fortune tellers, etc. She once woke up with teeth marks on one of her breasts. It definitely was not self inflicted, as she kept her false teeth in a glass at night.

Errr no Confused That is horrifying! I used to watch a show called Paranormal Survivor and what happened to your grandmother is exactly the sort of thing that would happen! Did it spook her? Did she stop going to fortune tellers?

I have seen this mark before. I warned my daughter what would happen if she didn't stop waving her bloody fork around to punctuate her increasingly strident sentences.

merryhouse · 15/06/2020 22:12

Do you have ageing feather duvet/pillows?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/06/2020 22:13

One..two...freddy's coming for you

Zaphodsotherhead · 15/06/2020 22:16

Have you had any interestingly sexy dreams lately? Because you might have an incubus.

If you don't want him, can I have him?

priya38 · 15/06/2020 22:18

If you've not got no pets in your house that could have done this and your absolutely sure them scratches were not there prior to going to sleep. That would actually freak me the fuck out.

1ForAllnAllFor1 · 15/06/2020 22:20

Maybe add few more scratches to extend the expiry date while you figure out what to do!

Sparklfairy · 15/06/2020 22:28

*Have you had any interestingly sexy dreams lately? Because you might have an incubus.

Maybe add few more scratches to extend the expiry date while you figure out what to do! this, my friend, is absolute genius Grin

thesunwillout · 15/06/2020 22:42

@draughtycatflap 😆

DisobedientHamster · 15/06/2020 22:50

Midgies and mozzies have bitten you and you scratched in the night.

priya38 · 15/06/2020 22:54

@DisobedientHamster

She says she doesn't have finger nails, she bites them down.

feesh · 15/06/2020 22:58

This is so freaky - exactly the same thing happened to me the other night. Woke up with red scratch marks all over my right wrist. No possible explanation (sleep alone and have tightly bitten nails!.).

mumwon · 15/06/2020 22:58

we are growing garlic in the garden (its not for vampires its because husband needs them for his curries Grin shall I send some to you op?
Although I always thought it was bites on the neck...

Jodie1982 · 15/06/2020 23:00

Some might take the piss. But I’ve had something abusing me often in my sleep... it’s been happening done I was 17 and I’m now 37. I’m not sure what to advise. But your not alone

mumwon · 15/06/2020 23:00

got it! You are in a Hitchcock movie - the Birds maybe?

priya38 · 15/06/2020 23:01

OP I'm not trying to freak you out or anything, but I've just googled "can a ghost scratch you in your sleep" and I've come across this link....

m.health24.com/Mental-Health/News/7-symptoms-of-being-haunted-20151030

I mean 1 scratch ok, I'd maybe dismiss it, maybe even 2, but 3 together like that looks freaky.

Craftycorvid · 15/06/2020 23:02

If you start spontaneously levitating and your head is revolving, I’m afraid you have got the demons in - I think you can get a spray for it from Boots. Grin

gottastopeatingchocolate · 15/06/2020 23:07

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but...

DON'T GO DOWN THE CELLAR!!

ByGaslight · 15/06/2020 23:14

Stroked you. 'AIBU to think a demon has stroked me in my sleep?' OP

VapingHot · 15/06/2020 23:15

Mumsnet at its best. Thank you all SO much for making me laugh tonight. I've had a shitty few days and my mental ill health was in danger of rearing it's ugly head.
Instead, you lot have made me snort with laughter. Especially the line below:
Maybe add few more scratches to extend the expiry date while you figure out what to do!

Grin Grin Brillliant!
FlosCampi · 15/06/2020 23:21

Have you ever seen Rosemary's Baby? Didn't she have those scratches? OP maybe in 9 months you'll be hearing the patter of tiny (cloven) hooves
