To think a demon has attacked me in my sleep

I woke up with three parallel scratch marks on my collarbone. Don't be silly, I hear you say, you just scratched yourself in your sleep. Except I have a horrible habit of biting my nails down to the quick, they are useless stubs that can't even scratch an itch when I want them to.

I have not been near any branches or pets with claws. The only logical conclusion is of course, a demon.

Am I doomed? This is how all the horror movies start isn't it?

Call 111 and ask for Buffy shes bad ass for all demons and tell her to send Giles round here while she gets on with it please and thak you

BarbedBloom · 15/06/2020 23:22

I just tried recreating that on myself as I also have short nails. Firstly I couldn't scratch that hard and secondly, I had to contort my fingers in very strange positions.

I can beat it though and still have no explanation. I was sleeping alone, woke up the next morning with terrible pain in my back. Looked in the mirror and had massive claw marks from just below my shoulders to just above my bum. My nails were short and filed and couldn't have reached anyway. No pets, nothing sharp at all on my memory foam mattress. No blood too which was even weirder as they looked deep. That house was really creepy and it did make me wonder about woo things.

WhatTheDormouseSaid · 15/06/2020 23:24

Years ago, an incubus attacked me over and over again, when I was sleeping.
I was so frightened because I didn't know I was dreaming - I thought I was awake.
Not happened for a long, long time now.

Sparklfairy · 15/06/2020 23:29

You know, I posted this as lighthearted, but the more recent replies are really unsettling! @BarbedBloom and @WhatTheDormouseSaid I have no words Shock

Maybe I should ask for this to be deleted as it's outing to the demon Grin

@Sparklfairy no she was a fearless woman. My mother witnessed my grandmother chase her dead boyfriend back to his grave. When I was was six years old I saw her chase a pitbull.

Seriously, I’m not making this up.

zonedoutallnight · 15/06/2020 23:32

Do you have feather pillows? I can't stand them because they get to certain age and then the little feather stalks stick out and can be pretty scratchy.

priya38 · 15/06/2020 23:33

So this was all lighthearted fun? 🙄
So how did the scratches get there then?

Reading your first post that didn't come across as a joke. Hence getting some of the serious replies you have.

Sparklfairy · 15/06/2020 23:39

@priya38 i meant I didn't really think it was a demon and there must be another explanation... But the replies have made me paranoid think otherwise!

@zonedoutallnight I don't think it's the pillows. I cant stand poky bits and the scratches are so perfectly aligned, like they were done all at once ConfusedGrin

Sorry OP, it doesn't look like a love heart next to the scratches to me, I can see a little face, with a pointy chin!! Shock

Sparklfairy · 15/06/2020 23:47

Fuck off @HuggedTheRedwoods Grin

I've got longish nails and I've just tried to do the same scratches as what you've got. But to leave actual marks like you've got, you have to go quite deep which hurts.

It's strange how the scratches didn't wake you up.

That's the thing. I didn't wake up and you would have to scratch pretty hard to get that (and of course have nails in the first place).

I probably shouldn't post this embarrassing photo, but I've just taken a pic of the state of my nails Blush No way they could have been the culprit!

I'm telling you. Feathers. Evil little buggers.

Would you accept the sharp pointed feathers of a harpy demon counting down the days until the end times as a more likely explanation?

It's either that or 5G.

This sounds serious?

priya38 · 16/06/2020 00:03

@Willow2017

That to me is reading as someone who is making lightheartedness out of a serious situation.

BSintolerant · 16/06/2020 00:08

@AreYouLocal2 Grin

Are you involved in any occult practices? My late grandmother used to love going to fortune tellers, etc. She once woke up with teeth marks on one of her breasts. It definitely was not self inflicted, as she kept her false teeth in a glass at night.

Do you think her false teeth were possessed and went on the rampage after lights out? Or perhaps she just caught her left tit in the mangle, which caused much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of false teeth. Wink

YouSayWhat · 16/06/2020 00:10

The culprit is the red bedding. No wonder Satan is tempted, you brazen little hussy.

priya38 · 16/06/2020 00:13

@Sparklfairy yes there's no way you've scratched yourself with them stubs 🥴😉

I've just googled "woke up with scratches on body" then if you click on google images there's lots of pictures similar to yours.

Queenest · 16/06/2020 00:13

You need to google ‘dermatographia scratch’...

Giganticshark · 16/06/2020 00:14

The Vatican can't help you.
Call the Warrens, resurrect them!! Where da fuq Derek Acorah at??

Queenest · 16/06/2020 00:14

ThighThighofthigh · 16/06/2020 00:15

I agree re having the colour red in your house. It's just inviting trouble, next it'll come back and bite you on the bum.

Giganticshark · 16/06/2020 00:16

I have stubs, no nails.
I wake up with scratch marks on my eyebrows..... Along the eyebrow line, just above or below the hair. Around once a month.
What's going on??!!!!

Jeremyironsnothing · 16/06/2020 00:17

Stop with this woo business. There is a perfectly reasonable and logical explanation.

It was hot last night. You left your window open and either a fox or large bird entered via the window intending to take you off to their lair. You were too heavy though...
