Are expensive hair straighteners worth it?

Mine were about £30. I've never been very impressed with that but now that my hair is so much longer it's starting to get on my nerves. Are fancy straighteners really worth it?

Iv love my GHDs. Discovered them in uni 20 years ago. This is my second pair. Only had to replace as my daughter stepped on them. They actually still worked but duct taped together. My dh bought me a new pair for my birthday about 6 years ago. They are worth the investment and seem to buck the trend of modern electricals that last 2-3 years before replacing.
