To really hate it when people talk about DTD on here?

It's so puritanical and 1950s and makes sex sound shameful and dirty, as if its something to be done on Sunday, behind closed doors and with all the lights off. Like going to the toilet.

This is a discussion board for adult women, the majority of whom have or plan to have children. You are allowed to have a sex life (if you so choose) and to discuss it. For Pete's sake can we stop talking about DTD?

Personally I only ever used DTD when I was TTC (ha). For me, discussing it with a load of strangers, I felt far more comfortable using an acronym than saying 'he spunked inside my vagina'. I wasn't really talking about sex, I was indicating that we had done the specific act that might lead to conception.

ClareBlue · 22/05/2020 16:28

BTW, hope you are feeling betterFlowers

Notverybright · 22/05/2020 16:28

Lollypop4 maybe if the op gets more vitamins weird mumsnet phrases won't piss her off so much?

ForeverBubblegum · 22/05/2020 16:29

You go to the toilet in the dark?

thepeopleversuswork · 22/05/2020 16:29

Lollypop thought that was aimed at me because you thought I'd lost the plot Grin

I'm sure multivitamins are helpfulu for DTD

ladycarlotta it makes a bit more sense in this context but I still don't see why an acronym is needed even when you're specifically referring to conception? I mean sex is sex, right?

I think "hopping on the bad leg, doing the good thing" is acceptable. Or "making the beast with two backs".

Jezebel101 · 22/05/2020 16:44

It's just a saying. I don't think you can diagnose sexual dysfunction by the use of an acronym on a message board. It does sound a bit Helen Lovejoy but I don't think anyone is meant to think too much about it.

I don't particularly like it, but it's not a hill I'd choose to die on.

Ginfordinner · 22/05/2020 16:46

I agree that the term sounds quite clinical and a little "doing ones duty", but I can't get worked up about it really.

FleecyMoo · 22/05/2020 16:49

Ha ha, 'conjugal ghastliness' is brilliant. I may offer a bit of 'CG' to the DH later if he's very lucky Grin.

Sugartitss · 22/05/2020 16:51

You sound like you need a good rogering op.

TheChampagneGalop · 22/05/2020 16:53

Hm, makes sense in the context of talking about TTC.
Pivving could definitely become a verb though WeBuilt. Grin

You mean there is another way?

draughtycatflap · 22/05/2020 16:58

I always thought it meant ‘Devour The Dick’. 😳

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/05/2020 17:05

'Our Duty to the Party'.

ClareBlue · 22/05/2020 17:17

I'm

ClareBlue · 22/05/2020 17:18

Sorry premature post. Thinking too much about DTD...

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll Grin hadn’t thought of it like that but yes, quite!!

TheChampagneGalop · 22/05/2020 18:06

Devour The Dick
Oh dear, so if you DTD together with your DH it's actually a thressome?

ladycarlotta · 22/05/2020 21:01

@thepeopleversuswork
I mean, sex is sex, right?

This is what I'm saying - it isn't. We could have had sex but he didn't finish, or had sex using protection, or had sex but he didn't ejaculate inside me, or had some kind of sexy time that felt like sex but didn't involve penis in vagina... whereas if I wrote 'DTD' I would intend it as shorthand for 'shagged in a manner that hopefully put egg and sperm in one place'.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 22/05/2020 21:06

I don't think I've ever seen it used outside of the conception board? I agree that it's weird to use it in other contexts but there it's sort of a... term of art?

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 22/05/2020 21:13

Betty Boo was Doing the Do wasn't she??

on the whole I think shagging or having it off is most fun...DTD seems a little bit more of a chore. :o

Bluntness100 · 22/05/2020 21:18

I actually have no idea what you’re on about. Sure some folks use dtd, others say shagging some say fucking on here, and many variations in between, what difference does it make, people can use whatever term they are comfortable with.

What are you thr sex police? Time to grow up and understand people use different terms op.
