My vagina stinks

I can't live with it anymore, it smells horrible even 2 minutes after showering. I don't use soap down there and I don't have an STI. I have been treated for thrush and no change.

It's worse in the hot weather but I'm feeling self conscious all the time. I can smell it when I'm sitting down on the sofa. People say it's normal to have an odour but when does it become abnormal?

I can't even describe the smell - it isn't fishy but it's unpleasant Sad

But surely if it ‘reeks’ it’s dirty enough to cause some problems?

I'm not a doctor so I don't know for sure but I've not heard of stale sweat or urine causing problems other than an absolute fetid stench.

ClientQ · 12/05/2020 22:31

@JoeExoticsEyebrowRing I clean everything on the outside. So if you were standing up and everything was er tucked in neatly so all the outer bits
No cleaning inner labia etc because surely that's mucus membrane and like soaping your mouth

DorsetCamping · 12/05/2020 22:47

Literally howling - love a good old fanjo cleaning thread!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 12/05/2020 22:56

I don’t think you can compare a hand to a vulva though

Hand is exposed to more, out in the fresh air
Vulva spends most of its time sweating in tight clothes, often synthetic, sometimes damp from not being thoroughly dried after peeing; the perfect breeding ground for nasty little ickies.

Agree with PP - off to have a bath before bed.

Inspirational thread.

Barbie222 · 12/05/2020 23:27

@aFaintSeashellAroma great name change

Toilenstripes · 12/05/2020 23:29

I can’t believe there’s been 15 pages of this. Sort it out already!

Grandmi · 12/05/2020 23:37

I havnt got a massive sense of smell but I do avoid using public loos after anyone has been in there...I can always pick up a scent that makes me want to heave 🤢

MrsEsss · 13/05/2020 07:59

Get yourself some Source shower gel, the mint one. Woohoo! It's tingly freshness like no other!

Again, only around the area, not the vagina.

Frokni · 13/05/2020 08:11

Had a similar problem. Just started washing with water and tiny bit of vagisil soap. Upped my water in take and lots of panty-free days in the house (much easier in lock down). Ensured my labia and chunk around the thighs is rinsed and dried really well with no extra products at all. No body lotion etc. You need to give it a week or so of a new routine. BV tests are mental expensive I feel but if you really need it go for it.

VictoriaBun · 13/05/2020 08:16

You could steam it in the gym stream room but they are all closed now! Just give it a good old rinse with water and soap. Use the shower head and bobs your uncle*
And Fanny's your aunt ! Hahahaha

VictoriaBun · 13/05/2020 08:17

Oops that highlight failed !

ponchek · 13/05/2020 08:22

Hydromol. Not the cream - the ointment in a small pot. Costs about £5 or doctor might prescribe a big one.

It is amazing stuff. Totally gentle. Very effective. And yes for all the petals of the flower! Inner and outer!

SpudsGuns · 13/05/2020 08:27

As others have said, it could be BV or possibly Garderella.
You need to be checked sooner rather than later OP.

Bbang · 13/05/2020 08:41

My gynae told me to wash my inner labia with an aqueous cream, and I wash the rest with soap.

I am genuinely astounded that some people think a little water sluicing over the area is sufficient enough to keep you clean Confused good grief lol.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 13/05/2020 09:47

Aqueous cream? That’s revolting stuff!

It ain’t coming anywhere near my fanny

Reallymissthegym · 13/05/2020 09:50

I have a Mirena coil (waiting to have it out) I get BV almost every other time I have sex. Never had it with my copper coil. The GP had agreed it’s the cause of it.

Reallymissthegym · 13/05/2020 09:51

Apologies if someone has mentioned the above it’s a long thread to read!!

Zombiemum1946 · 13/05/2020 09:51

Soap upsets the ph level that's why I was told not to mess with it. The vagina is not meant to smell like the perfume counter at boots. It's a rather delicate and easily damaged area. It's meant to be a fun house, not a display cabinet.

ponchek · 13/05/2020 09:53

Aqueous cream isn't Hydromol ointment. I also hate aqueous cream, although feel I shouldn't.

Hydromol ointment feels like a really expensive beauty product. It's amazing stuff. And absolutely seems to be recommended by gynaecological dermatologists (or dermatological gynaecologists?!).

The point is - it's lovely and couldn't be more kind to that very special and delicate skin.

DorsetCamping · 13/05/2020 10:08

@Zombiemum1946

Fun house GrinGrin

Vieve1325 · 13/05/2020 10:12

You’re not cleaning yourself correctly unless you’re syringing boiling hot Zoflora up your fanjo morning and night. I suggest Linen Fresh or Midnight Garden.

ponchek · 13/05/2020 10:16

Ignore the stuff about eczema etc on the label - that Hydromol is just good for pussies!!

ponchek · 13/05/2020 10:17

Fun house with emollients 😉
