I want people to clap for my left arse cheek because it’s fucking magnificent.

Redcherries · 04/04/2020 21:36

@jadey0891 I’m sorry you’re getting a hard time.

I do think though kids are a bit oblivious to what’s going on, besides those that struggle with routine change. My concern is more with teens, they know what’s going on and they can’t see family and friends, carry on at school etc. I’ve got 2 older teens, and they are struggling, one missing his very long term girlfriend who’s working in a care home, he’s not able to works as normal as he works for me in construction and I’m high risk so having to delay jobs, organise work where he’s in no contact with the other lads (he’s working onsite with my dh only, we are taking precautions very seriously on all of our sites) and one in the first year of sixth form worrying she can’t learn sufficiently at home.

Maybe I’ll clap for them tomorrow or just cook them a roast 😁

Mohster · 04/04/2020 21:36

Im sorry but im not sure about this. Kids staying in - whilst I understand its hard for them its not really much of an effort most of my time is spent trying to get kids to go out and get off their phones tablets. Let's not go too far with this because compared to the various heroes out there, that need some way of us showing exceptional appreciation rather than reducing its meaning.
In my mind, it's like saying that the troops at the front should be appreciated for giving their lives, which is what they are doing in many cases and let's also appreciate the fact that people went to the bomb shelters for their safety. Two worlds apart.

I get the feeling whilst this is done with the right reasons it reduces the importance of clapping as a way fo gratitude for the exceptional sacrifice that the NHS workers are making. So I vote no to it.

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 21:36

@DrWAnker
Yeah I can tell. Reading everyone's post. I get that it's a load of BS clapping all the time... to be fair clapping isn't going to change anything.

@OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow that needs making into a TikTok
*I've unintentionally fallen down a TikTok hole due to CV19 boredom. I'm banned from posting on there by my teen though.

DrWAnker · 04/04/2020 21:37

Our local radio station was trying to think of a good name for a campaign to cheer on those doing good deeds.
Clap For Corona..until one of them quickly realised it sounded like a swap ShockGrin.

Foghead · 04/04/2020 21:37

@OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow
Good work on those lyrics 😂

Mooey89 · 04/04/2020 21:37

Don’t forget ‘shout for the shielded’ (Saturdays) ‘sing for the social workers’ (Sunday’s) Fart for the farmers’ (Fridays) ‘Morris dance for the mummies’ (Monday) and twerk for the twats on a Tuesday.

Smellbellina · 04/04/2020 21:37

I want people to clap for my left arse cheek because it’s fucking magnificent.

I’ll clap my arse cheeks together for that.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 21:37

@jadey0891 it's taking a piss out of that poster and idea rather than out of you. Thanks for the laugh

ClapForCats · 04/04/2020 21:38

How's 4.35am on a Wednesday while holding a dead mouse and yacking up Dreamies for everyone

I will provide the mouse. I will vomit some Dreamies (the cheese ones) as well.

I want to Do My Bit For Cats.

BiBiBirdie · 04/04/2020 21:38

@Ethelfleda Grin Grin Grin

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 21:39

@BiBiBirdie @Foghead thank you, thank you Grin

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 21:39

No problem I get the idea now.

Can I just ask if the doggers who are stuck inside are going to have a designated bravery clap day? Perhaps, instead of clapping, people could stand on their doorsteps and flash their boobs or wave their knobs to express support.

SharonasCorona · 04/04/2020 21:39

I wonder if this is gaining traction on Netmums? Grin

This is really for parents wanting recognition for being stuck home with their crotch goblins, dressed up as for our little heroes.

SpillTheTea · 04/04/2020 21:40

I thought it was a joke. We'll be clapping everytime we take a shit at this rate.

notangelinajolie · 04/04/2020 21:42

No claps from me.

DrWAnker · 04/04/2020 21:42

@jadey0891. Folk are just looking for ways to bring people together in all this and keep a sense of control in all the madness. It makes some people feel useful whereas here most of us are just wtf as you can see.

StrangerDays · 04/04/2020 21:42

If I run up the stairs without a bra on it sure sounds like I'm clapping. Happy to do that.

Whenwillthisbeover · 04/04/2020 21:42

Ffs, I don’t equate a child staying home with mummy the same as a HCP being subjected to Coronavirus on a daily basis and risking their lives. Get a grip.

Christmastreedown · 04/04/2020 21:43

I am working on my poster for clapping for grandparents. What's the best date and time people? Smile

ClapForCats · 04/04/2020 21:43

As a Cat Ambassador I decided to look on Netmums to see if they were prepared to Clap For Cats. Or anything.

I do not understand how to look things up there though.

I hope the valiant members of Netmums will Clap For Cats. It is so very important.

BiBiBirdie · 04/04/2020 21:43

Oh it's definitely parenting one upmanship.
My pair have been fucking dreadful so no they wouldn't be getting a clap, unless it was old skool like what I used to get, ie a clap round the arse with a slipper.

Neveranynamesleft · 04/04/2020 21:44

Ffs. This is getting as bad as all those 'National' days that get thrust upon us whether we like it or not.....National love thy neighbour even tho you cant stand them day......National tripe day....whatever. People obviously have too much time on their hands and love winding other people up .
