TheMustress - it wouldn't if you were the OP though, would it. You'd feel pretty embarrassed and miserable (or I would, anyway).

Roostersmum2 · 04/04/2020 21:25

That picture made me laugh, thank you Grin

Me and DH did clap at the kids yesterday, in jest after I heard about this.

My toddler was quite thrilled albeit confused.

Whatever next. Clap for the cats?

manicinsomniac · 04/04/2020 21:26

Hope you're ok Jadey

teenagetantrums · 04/04/2020 21:26

I'm sorry but I'm a key worker. The first clap was nice. But not every week. So far this week l have seen l should be shining torches. Dancing to s club on my doorstep and clapping again for kids. To be honest l don't have the time or the energy. Although l might clap for cats🤣

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 21:27

@manicinsomniac

Fucksake!

I despair at what social media has created.

manicinsomniac · 04/04/2020 21:27

Light relief shouldn't come at someone else's expense.

bloodysqueakyeggs · 04/04/2020 21:27

Clap for kids?! What the fresh hell is this?

Clap for the parents more like, we deserve it way more!

Please don't I was only joking

BiBiBirdie · 04/04/2020 21:28

Nope
Nope
Nope
Nope

THERE IS A FUCKING KILLER PANDEMIC WHICH MEANS WE ARE MEANT TO STAY THE FUCK HOME NOT STAND ON DOORSTEPS EVERY FEW SODDING HOURS

How many more times do we need to be told this? If we stop being twats and going out the house for spurious reasons, our wonderful crotch fruit could be allowed to go out and forget this ever happened by May. If we don't listen and keep up with these pointless shenanigans, we could still be indoors come September.

Show your kids you love them by staying in so they can get the fuck back to their educations.

ClapForCats · 04/04/2020 21:28

I have been made aware of this thread and want to encourage you to clap for me and my friends every day.

We will be asleep when you do it so don't clap too loud.

While I have your attention please note that I do not like Felix Fish in Gravy any more, although it was the only thing I would eat when you bought the Whiskas.

LowerLoxleyAmbridge · 04/04/2020 21:28

@OhhhPeee

"Binge Drink for Bin Men is happening every night in my house until this thing is over"

Brilliant Grin

PeterFoggsTractor · 04/04/2020 21:28

I assumed this was a pisstake. Is it really genuine? I'm gobsmacked if it is. Struggling to see anything 'heroic' from children. People being exposed to a life threatening virus on a daily basis, in the course of their job, maybe. But children playing at home? Hardly.

Foghead · 04/04/2020 21:29

Surely we need Anaconda by Nicki Minaj for a good wholesome twerk session?

I'm a retired community midwife.
Can I reserve Wednesday lunch-times for people to clap on their doorsteps in honour of the sacrifice I am making for the NHS?
Oh wait.

I'm another retired midwife (hospital-based). My husband says he want to arrange a Rumba for Retired midwives. Can we count on you to dance with us?

ChickLitLover · 04/04/2020 21:29

Clap for the parents more like, we deserve it way more!

It’s only a matter of time before someone suggests it. 😬

TooOldForSims · 04/04/2020 21:30

I'm an NHS worker too. Granted I am not a front line worker but I still have to be in the office to put in all those orders for PPE.

I haven't clapped because I would feel weird about it, like I was applauding myself iyswim and I'm not that big headed. I'm just doing my job 🤷.

That being said, I was very tempted to rush out into the street and do a massive bow when I heard the clapping on Thursday...

Smellbellina · 04/04/2020 21:30

Sorry @jadey0891 I thought you were posting in jest.

Guyonhere1 · 04/04/2020 21:30

This is so cringe

Smellbellina · 04/04/2020 21:30

Didn’t RTFT!

ILLBESUZIE · 04/04/2020 21:30

I thought this was a joke then the OP came back on and apparently it isn't. This gets a FFS from me.

DrWAnker · 04/04/2020 21:30

I think most of the parents on this forum have shown what support there is for this venture Confused.
It's a bit of a daft idea BUT it's provoked a grand discussion which has turned out to give a bit of a giggle to folk.
So perhaps not in the intended way but it has given people a lift.

Sorry it isn't what you intended OP but given previous threads about virtue signalling fatigue you have to know your audience.

BiBiBirdie · 04/04/2020 21:31

What's next, Tits out for Twitter people who post funny memes to keep us all going?

Christ

ClapForCats · 04/04/2020 21:31

And as a cat, I can tell you that I do not approve of your clapping your children.

They pull my tail and push me off the sofa when I am having a well-earned rest.

Clap for me. I am a cat and I deserve it.

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 21:31

@Smellbellina
Don't get you love?
