Hen do tees and leotards

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 09:55

I'm going on a hen do to Ibiza and the sister of the bride is organising it (yet not going as she will have just had a baby).

She arranging tee shirts and leotards for a pool party.

Now I'm plus size, every one else is a size8/10.

Aibu to just say sorry but I'll be so uncomfortable and self conscious that I just don't want to wear them?

I'm aware I'm then going to be the odd one out and draw more attention to myself.

I'm quite happy in a sucky ineryou cozzi etc but these will not be.

BLOODY HEN DO'S

Leotards/hen do/Ibiza/pool party - all of those words fill me with dread! You shouldn't have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable but so many hen dos seem to be about group conforming and organised "fun" so you may feel more uncomfortable being the odd one out. Is there any way you can adapt the basic outfit to something you are more comfortable in? Like adding a sarong or shorts etc.

Waveysnail · 25/02/2020 10:04

Wouldnt sashes be easier and everyone can wear their own clothes?

Waveysnail · 25/02/2020 10:05

Could you wear long t-shirt with leggings instead of leotard?

Comefromaway · 25/02/2020 10:05

I'm a size 12 and I wouldn't wear one.

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:06

This is it. I'm shocked the hen is even going with this idea to be honest as expected vineyard tours in the south of France or similar!

The t shirts go up to 14 as they're from China. My bust is 34j so I need around a 20. Again the leotard will have no bust support and probably won't even go up to my size.

I guess if it's not possible then it's not happening but I'm going to have to tell the whole WhatsApp group. Cringe.

Ywnbu to tell her you're not happy, could you wear your sucky in costume with a hen do tshirt on top?

messolini9 · 25/02/2020 10:06

She arranging tee shirts and leotards for a pool party.

Why?
Why does anybody over the age of 12 do this?

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:07

@messolini I honestly have no idea Confused

Well that's bang out of order for a start then isn't it! I'd tell the bride that you're not happy, hopefully they will all have a rethink. I hate shit like this!

SinglePringle · 25/02/2020 10:09

I would be bailing. Not a chance would I go on a hen do like this.

messolini9 · 25/02/2020 10:09

Stuff the whatsapp group, stuff their conformist mentality & lack of imagination, & stuff their lack of consideration for anyone who might feel uncomfortable - for ANY reason - with being dressed up like a twat for a hen party.

Go if you want to, & wear whatever makes YOU feel ok OP.
Anyone who demands otherwise is a bully.

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:12

Yes! You're all right! I feel I'm being ballsy for even going so no, I won't look like a twat GrinGrinGrin I'll be the photographer!

“Why does anybody over the age of 12 do this?”

This. Who goes along with this shit? And it’s so wasteful - none of that stuff is going to be used again.

Sounds like the hen party of my nightmares.

Just say privately to the bride that you won’t feel comfortable and wearing a leotard is a recipe for thrush in a hot country!

ChateauMyself · 25/02/2020 10:17

Are you sure as a ‘plus size’, you’re a 34J?

Head on over to Style & Beauty and call a klaxon for a bra intervention.

katy1213 · 25/02/2020 10:17

Don't offer explanations. Just say, 'No thanks - not for me.' Organised 'fun' makes me quake to my boots. It always seem to have a bullying undercurrent. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

LolaSmiles · 25/02/2020 10:18

No no no no no.
YANBU at all. Why the need for grown woman to dress like clones by a pool to celebrate upcoming nuptials?

It sounds like someone likes the idea of a stand in a line, each bending a leg photo. Are the hens in pink and the bride in white by any chance?

Wynston · 25/02/2020 10:18

Just say on the group.....nah im ok thanks my fabulous boobs will not fit into the outfit they are suggesting and you are happy to wear your own clothes.
You never know there are probably other hens who are thinking the same

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:19

I don't want to tell the bride though because she doesn't know about it. I wish I could because I bet she'd think it was a stupid idea.

OP posts:
Lenny1980 · 25/02/2020 10:20

If they don’t do your size they don’t do your size, you have no option. Just say size not available and if you’re feeling generous say you’ll colour coordinate with something of your own.

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:20

@wynston good point actually. There could be others suffering silently!

Are the t-shirts to wear over the leotards? Not relevant but I'm confused and horrified in equal measure.

I'd post saying "yeah, that's not for me thanks!"

Youngatheart00 · 25/02/2020 10:22

I’d brazenly say “right - there’s no chance those tees or leotards are going to go over my boobs 😬 anyone got any ideas how I could improv?!”

You might well find you’re not the only one in a ‘customised’ version of the ‘hen party uniform’. Don’t let it spoil your enjoyment of the weekend Smile

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:23

Haha I think the tee shirts are for the airport pic and then the leotards are to replace swimming costumes for the pool party. I'm actually laughing, I have no idea why I agreed to this! It's so not me.

But, I have never been "away with the girls" and I kinda thought sunshine and booze, what could go wrong.

OP posts:
Apolloanddaphne · 25/02/2020 10:24

Oh good that would be my idea of a nightmare. I would just wear my own clothes/swimwear. Find out what colour they are and take a t shirt of your own in that colour to wear.
