Hen do tees and leotards

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 09:55

I'm going on a hen do to Ibiza and the sister of the bride is organising it (yet not going as she will have just had a baby).

She arranging tee shirts and leotards for a pool party.

Now I'm plus size, every one else is a size8/10.

Aibu to just say sorry but I'll be so uncomfortable and self conscious that I just don't want to wear them?

I'm aware I'm then going to be the odd one out and draw more attention to myself.

I'm quite happy in a sucky ineryou cozzi etc but these will not be.

BLOODY HEN DO'S

You can have great craic away with the girls! MN is a bit judgey about a group of women wanting to do more than have a packet of pork scratchings in a barn somewhere for a hens.

But still, you don't have to wear any of that!

Say out straight that neither will fit but you'll wear the same colour.

BlackWhitePurple · 25/02/2020 10:27

Honestly, I'd fake my own death to get out of that.

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:28

Right I've said my massive tits need to be securely fastened with loose fabric to cover. I'll happily wear a mask/shash/colour co-ordinate but the clothing is a big no from me! Soz (will make up for it with taking staged photos)!

Hell no! Do they say “bride tribe” 🙄 Just reply in the group chat that your boobs won’t fit in so not to include you on the order. Also, you can sit back and giggle when the leotards from China go transparent as soon as they hit the water!

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:30

@yesmate ha, I thought this! But then will anyone actually get in the pool?

OP posts:
OhCaptain · 25/02/2020 10:32

I don't think people who wear matching leotards to pool parties in Ibiza get in the pool! Wink

Well done on speaking up! You might find others piping up to refuse now, too.

LolaSmiles · 25/02/2020 10:33

Yesmate Grin
Or they'll be worn for the obligatory Instagram photos and then people will see sense and wear their normal swimwear.

Yesmate · 25/02/2020 10:33

@GonnaNeedANameChange There isn’t a lot of swimming at Ibiza pool parties, but, there will be photo ops on massive inflatables and someone is bound to go in!

GaraMedouar · 25/02/2020 10:34

Aargh - nightmare. Just say nope - and wear your own clothes (and giggle inwardly at the rest of them) Smile

Waveysnail · 25/02/2020 10:34

The girl who is organising is a bit mean not source somewhere that does range of sizes.

GonnaNeedANameChange · 25/02/2020 10:35

@waveysnail I also like how she's not even going!

OP posts:
BarbaraofSeville · 25/02/2020 10:35

Why the leotards for the pool? What's wrong with a swimming costume or bikini?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 25/02/2020 10:37

The t shirts go up to 14 as they're from China

A size 14 from China will probably fit a 6 year old girl at best. So its unlikely any of them will end up wearing them.

Yesmate · 25/02/2020 10:37

If you aren’t in the matching leotards you also won’t have to do the jumping in the air insta photo. Winning all round I would say!

HellonHeels · 25/02/2020 10:39

That sounds horrific! I would be politely withdrawing from attendance.

AryaStarkWolf · 25/02/2020 10:39

sweet jesus, it sounds hellish. You don't have to wear anything you don't want to. Also, how can she expect you to if you can't even get one in your size anyway? What does she expect you to do?

longcoffee · 25/02/2020 10:40

That's brave of them, if a little daft. I'd have no doubt that the leotards will go see-through when wet... :-S

I'd much prefer to be the camera-holder, safe in the knowledge that I'm splash proof OP! Grin

Yesmate · 25/02/2020 10:41

Has anyone relied on the group chat @GonnaNeedANameChange?

BarbaraofSeville · 25/02/2020 10:41

What a waste. No way would I agree to buy clothing that I can't try on before buying and is unlikely to be returnable, either due to the cost or because it is personalised.

I don't see the problem with sashes and people wearing their own clothes if you all want a collective 'Emma's hen do in Ibiza' theme for the photos.

SonjaMorgan · 25/02/2020 10:43

This is tacky as hell. Also getting clothes from a place that wouldn't fit everyone in the group is cruel.

OP get yourself a stunning kaftan dress for the pool party and let them all look stupid. I imagine some others may not be that keen on the idea. Even at a size 10 I wouldn't have wanted to wear this.

poppymatilda · 25/02/2020 10:45

This sounds like my idea of hell. I hate hen dos at the best of times but being told what to wear at the age of 35 really pisses me off.

I'm a size 10 and I would refuse to wear the leotard. I think it's a really insensitive ask to be honest. I feel so strongly about this stuff I wouldn't go if we couldn't wear what we wanted.

Stuff them and their organised fun nonsense!

Allcrimps · 25/02/2020 10:48

I'm a size 8 and a leotard would get a no from me too!!! I could go with the t-shirt but appreciate that it may not be a good fit for you. Perhaps offer to get one in same colour. I'm SURE there'll be others amongst the group that will have heaved a sigh of relief at you speaking up, and you'll probably find a few agreeing voices pipe up shortly!

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 25/02/2020 10:51

Piss up in ibiza, whilst not what I'd choose, does sound like a laugh. However the organised fun and outfits for the sake of the photos really makes me cringe. My sister is going to a hen weekend and they're dressing ad sailors with the bride being the "captain". Theyve been trying on their outfits on the whatsapp group and the only one that doesn't look a complete tit is surprise surprise the maid of honour who has organised is. Even the bride said shes only going to wear it for a bit. I dont get it at all.

Lovemusic33 · 25/02/2020 10:51

I’m a size 10/12 but wouldn’t wear that, I have awful cellulite and would feel really uncomfortable.

Just wear T-shirt and leggings.

SinkGirl · 25/02/2020 10:53

Even when I was very young and slim this would be my worst nightmare. As a grown woman I would rather eat my own poo than go on a trip like this. Sounds like one crazy MoH and everyone else groaning inwardly.
