AIBU to think that a paedophile's sex is actually relevant when they're convicted?

In this news report, the offender is referred to as a woman. As is clear when you actually read the article, Julie Marshall is transgender.

According to Sentencing Guidelines however, whether Julie is male or female is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if Julie has a GRC or not, whether Julie is described as male or female is entirely up to Julie, despite the fact that Julie is a vile sick pervert?

"It should be possible to recognise a person's gender identity and their present name for nearly all court and tribunal purposes, regardless of whether they have obtained legal recognition of their gender by way of a Gender Recognition Certificate.
A person’s gender at birth or their transgender history should not be disclosed unless it is necessary and relevant to the particular legal proceedings"

AIBU to be fed up of hideous crimes committed by men being wrongly attributed to women?

Yanbu

Siameasy · 23/02/2020 17:48

Yanbu. I saw the article on FB and knew it would be a man

Deckthehallswithlotsofcake · 23/02/2020 17:56

It is fraudulent to claim that the offender is a woman.

Bezalelle · 23/02/2020 18:04

YANBU.

This will severely skew the recorded crime figures.

It's a fucking nightmare we're walking into, blindfolded by "just be nice" and massive regulatory capture of all the governing institutions.

RightestPersonOnMN · 23/02/2020 18:09

YANBU but it seems that common sense on these matters is rapidly dying.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 23/02/2020 18:15

YANBU. Yes, it is entirely relevant to crime statistics to have all details of the offender recorded, otherwise they are skewed. Deliberately presumably.

SpeedofaSloth · 23/02/2020 18:18

YANBU.

BarbaraofSeville · 23/02/2020 18:21

Crime statistics will be massively skewed because men commit 90%+ of crimes and probably an even higher proportion of sex crimes.

Are people who report the statistics going to state with a straight face that the number of women convicted of sex offences has shot up?

calllaaalllaaammma · 23/02/2020 18:36

It's so disrespectful to the children that he abused.

Mistystar99 · 23/02/2020 18:57

Minging, Julie or John. Hell or similar awaits.

StinkyWizleteets · 23/02/2020 18:58

YANBU

SarahTancredi · 23/02/2020 19:16

Yanbu

How dare they gaslight the victims and the families of victims like that. Angry

It must feel almost as bad as the abuse itself. Least the perpetrator, well you know they dont care about you and want to do you harm. But for those who are meant to be there to keep you safe to be complicit In the mental abuse following...well they should be ashamed.of themselves Angry

Missarad · 23/02/2020 19:20

What the blood hell does yanbu mean

icanbewhatiwant · 23/02/2020 19:24

@Missarad meaning you are not being unreasonable

Skysblue · 23/02/2020 19:26

Yanbu. Apparently crime by women is massively increasing. Wonder why 🙄😡😡

HepzibahGreen · 23/02/2020 19:27

YANBU Angry

ExtraFox18 · 23/02/2020 19:29

No YANBU this is extremely worrying.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 23/02/2020 19:38

@Missarad
You Are Not Being Unreasonable.
Op, this situation will get worse before it gets better. I don't know what the answer is but I reckon there'll be some serious shit happening.
All the statistics will be skewed and won't present at true version of crime in this country.
I think that allowing child rapists to identify as women is doing a shocking and serious disservice to genuine transgender people.
It's a massive loophole for violent and abusive men to be locked up with vulnerable women.

BlooperReel · 23/02/2020 19:41

Yanbu, in the slightest. This woke, uber liberalism is dangerous and catastrophic for women.

Firsttimelottie · 23/02/2020 20:03

YANBU. It's absolutely disgusting and disgraceful.

Languishingfemale · 23/02/2020 20:14

Yanbu.
Our crime statistics are already inaccurate with the crimes of the current lot of transitioned sex offenders being counted as women's crimes.
Trouble is all the lobby groups (Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence etc ) are so influential and wealthy with the ear of government and every powerful group that ordinary citizens have little chance of influencing this.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/02/2020 20:15

Crime statistics will be massively skewed

Indeed. Rape is defined in UK law as he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person with his penis. In other words it is a law only a man can break.

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42/part/1/crossheading/rape

Despite this 83 women were charged with rape in 2018, a record number. As were 11 people of 'unknown sex', also a record (until 2019's stats come out).

www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/sexualoffendingcrownprosecutionserviceappendixtables (you will need to download the data)

Some of those women may have been co-defendants effectively charged with assisting in a rape (by a man). Of course we don't have a clue how many of these female (alledged) rapists were 'women with penises' because (despite being labelled as sex and forming part of legally defined national statistics) the data seems to be collected based entirely on the defendants 'gender identity'.

In case anyone cares, men make up about 95% of sex offenders (based on police arrest figures).

www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/sexualoffendinghomeofficeappendixtables (download, it's on the last tab)

womaninblue · 23/02/2020 20:18

No unreasonable at all. It makes a complete mockery of the statistics. I think the law and judiciary have got this terribly wrong.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/02/2020 20:18

Just for fun here is Labour leadership candiate Lisa Nandy defending thee recording of crime states based on the criminal's preferrence and also saying rapists should choose the prision they get to go to (i.e. a women's one if they wish).

PinkiOcelot · 23/02/2020 20:20

DNBU. Absolutely ridiculous, but as long as we’re being all PC there’s no problem!
