Bra gate- how often do you wash yours?

So, I’m still in hospital bored out my mind , too much time to question what I do in life, and I saw a post yesterday about how many bras is reasonable as the OP had one bra but washed it daily. Then it made me think, how often are you supposed to wear a bra before washing it without it seeming like you’ve left it too long and are a disgusting human? Like for me personally , no judgment (🤣) I have goodness knows how many bras , perhaps 15, I definitely don’t wear them all, they’re different types, and since being pregnant most of them are useless anyway, but I can wear one for three days In a row before washing it if I’m wearing it for work, I may have even left one 4 days I’m not even sure who I am anymore...
I’ve never got sweaty around my breasts or armpits for some reason, so never really thought anything of it until now. I don’t change them every day like I do pants and socks , and never even thought about how long is too long - why has that never occurred to me ? I Change my pants twice daily obviously , and socks once as I don’t wear them at night, but bloody hell maybe I’m disgusting , three days before washing my Over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder? 🤦🏽‍♀️
Let me know what your judgment is-should I go confess my sins in Church when I leave hospital or is MN enough ?

I'll wear it 2 or 3 times, not necessarily on consecutive days.
Although, nursing bra's, I frequently leaked (especially in the early days and when I stopped expressing) so they tended to be a clean one every day.

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 07:52

@ohwellthatsjustgreat now you’ve said that I think sometimes I’ll swap a day depending on what coloured top I’m wearing , and I’ll put the bra back in the drawer-but now I’m thinking that I might even leave it longer before washing 🤣 this gets worse !
Do you have any recommendations for nursing bras as I’m planning on breast feeding too , all being well

@itsemily you're probably right actually, it might be more often 😂

I bought these off amazon, FeelinGirl Womens 2/3 Pack Wirefree Seamless Maternity Nursing Bra Breastfeeding (M/32CD 34BC 36AB, Light Grey+Dark+Pink) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072JWC3T6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ybOnEb66THD3P?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I actually still wear them at night because they're comfy and not as restrictive as a proper bra.

Mandarinfish · 02/02/2020 08:01

Once a week.

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 08:03

@OhWellThatsJustGreat 😂😂🤦🏽‍♀️
Oo they’re lovely and a good price ! I’ll definitely get some !
@mandarinfish ooo not just me then !

Wear mine 2-3 days depending.

brendansbuddy · 02/02/2020 08:06

Change it about once a week. I await reprimand.

PristineCondition · 02/02/2020 08:07

About 5/7 wears before wash. I thought you shouldn't wash them often as it knackers them?
Pants socks daily ovb

rookiemere · 02/02/2020 08:08

Try to wash after every 3-4 wears, reality is it might be more like 5-6.

Pipandmum · 02/02/2020 08:08

Wear it two or three times as well.

Nquartz · 02/02/2020 08:08

3 or 4 days, 4 days for a work bra & 3 days for a non-working day bra.

On holiday I change every 3 days.

They never smell, even in summer or on hot holidays despite being close to my pits so to wash more frequently seems a waste of water/electricity

TheBitterBoy · 02/02/2020 08:10

I buy bras with matching knickers, one bra to three pairs of knickers all washed at the same time, so three wears before washing. Maybe two wears in very hot weather.

ShallICompareTheeToASummersDay · 02/02/2020 08:13

Wow. Every day here. I never thought I’d be the type to make life harder for myself when it came to things like this!!

Lojoh · 02/02/2020 08:14

Bralettes I just throw in the basket with my vest, so one wear, one wash. I hardly ever wash my expensive bras. I don't wear them on consecutive days and hang them up to air instead. When they start to smell, basically, I reluctantly wash them. I want them to last as long as pos! They are properly fitted and so are nowhere near my armpits.

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 08:14

You’ve all made me feel much better !

ChickenNuggetsChipsAndBeans · 02/02/2020 08:20

I think when they start to smell and that seems to depend on the bra. At a guess every 3 days I suppose.

Bluesheep8 · 02/02/2020 08:21

I'm another who changes it once a week now I think about it! Blush I only have 4 bras aswell.

Nanamilly · 02/02/2020 08:21

Daily and twice daily in summer because of the temp where I live.

PatchworkElmer · 02/02/2020 08:24

I change mine daily (hand wash them all once a week). I’ve only done this for the last year, after a similar MN thread made me think about it 😂

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 08:27

I’ve never even questioned it, so bad ! But I’ve always just thought ‘it doesn’t smell at all bad’ , whereas my husband has been known to not change his socks for three days when he’s at work because his response is ‘my feet smell in my work shoes anyone so what’s the point in changing them everyday it’s more washing’ 🤢 I was like YOU ARE AN ANIMAL 😂

OP posts:
GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 08:28

That should say ‘my feet smell in my work shoes anyway ‘ not anyone , sorry !

Bobbybobbins · 02/02/2020 08:38

Too long probably but the sniff test says it's all good Grin

CherryPavlova · 02/02/2020 08:42

Daily. I couldn’t be bothered separating it out from the washing pile. I wouldn’t wear anything that goes directly next to the skin for more than a day.

riotlady · 02/02/2020 08:48

About a week? I will literally put mine on for 3 hours to go out though and then it comes off the second I’m home!

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/02/2020 08:52

@Bobbybobbins the sniff test is relatable too! I’ve been known to do that with my armpits recently (currently doing that in hospital today contemplating whether I really have to get out of bed to shower when feeling like shit)
