I see so many posts about people with cleaners and I'm genuinely shocked at how many people do! Don't get me wrong, if our finances could stretch that far I'd love one and I'm so jealous Grin but I didn't realise it was so common. Do you have a cleaner?

Yabu - no
Yanbu - yes

Xyzzzzz · 29/01/2020 16:44

I don’t have a cleaner. I personally can’t afford one or justify it. But if people can they can.

chickedeee · 29/01/2020 16:45

I don't have one either!

SecondTimeCharm · 29/01/2020 16:45

I would love to have one but I don’t. Can’t afford one to come for long enough, and often enough, to actually make a difference

ShirleyPhallus · 29/01/2020 16:46

I have one and she’s amazing

It’s literally like the fairies have been

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2020 16:47

I don't have one because I don't want one.

AltheaVestr1t · 29/01/2020 16:47

Two parents in full time work, two kids, two pets - I would give up many, many luxuries before I let go of the cleaner.

lazylinguist · 29/01/2020 16:49

Of course most people don't have cleaners. You say there are lots of posts on MN about cleaners, but there are gazillions of MNers. And probably far more threads about doing the housework/dh not doing the housework etc than there are about having a cleaner who does it. I could have a cleaner if I wanted, but it seems a bit lazy while I'm part time.

MmmMalbec · 29/01/2020 16:51

No and would hate a cleaner. A personal chef on the other hand Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/01/2020 16:52

Nope, I'm a single working mum and don't have a cleaner. I don't know anyone who has a cleaner.

I could afford one if I cut back in other areas but I don't want one. I live in a small house, DS and I are out all day so there really isn't much mess generated and it doesn't take me long to do.

WorraLiberty · 29/01/2020 16:52

Funny enough I've always said about MN that it's the sort of place that no-one seems to hire a cleaner, without starting a thread about it first? Grin

Not so much now but years ago the amount of "AIBU to get a cleaner" threads, were staggering Confused

BeyondMyWits · 29/01/2020 16:52

Nope, but I don't have a big mumsnetty house to keep clean either. Little 2 bed (my children had to share Shock )+ bathroom with the only loo in it upstairs, with one room + kitchen downstairs, not much to keep clean.

firawla · 29/01/2020 16:52

I do have one but definitely wouldn’t assume everyone does

BrimfulofSasha · 29/01/2020 16:52

I don't have a cleaner as we are renovating and I wouldn't wish that mess on anyone.
We may well hire one when it is all done though.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/01/2020 16:53

Nope- unless they came daily I’d still do the same amount of cleaning I bet

midwestfornow · 29/01/2020 16:53

I think about 50% of the people I know have one.

ALongHardWinter · 29/01/2020 16:54

I don't have one,but even if I COULD afford it,I still don't think I'd like to have one! I wouldn't like the idea of a relative stranger coming into my house and touching things. But then maybe I'm a bit odd. Grin

Meruem · 29/01/2020 16:54

I wouldn't want one. I would see it as too much of a bind to have to make sure things were tidy enough for the cleaner to do their work each week! I don't live in filth but sometimes work surfaces aren't clear, that kind of thing, and cleaners don't tidy up they just clean! On that note, I find the actual cleaning part the easy bit anyway! So why pay someone to do the easiest bits?

isseywith4vampirecats · 29/01/2020 16:54

I don't have a cleaner I am the cleaner, I think because people put up a thread asking for advice about cleaners or what to do if their cleaner goes wrong it gives the impression that everyone has a cleaner

Dontdisturbmenow · 29/01/2020 16:54

O H and I earn a good joint income and could definitely afford a cleaner. We both work FT but I personally think it's our responsibility to clean our own mess and dirt. We've never had a cleaner and will only ever consider having one if we struggle physically to clean.

nurseymummyx · 29/01/2020 16:54

I don't have one because I'm a weirdo, I absolutely love cleaning!
Maybe I should do what I love, quit my job and become a cleaner! X

PGtipsplease · 29/01/2020 16:55

I’d LOVE a cleaner and keep saying I’ll get round to sorting it - but my house is a mess and I’d have to do a big clean first Sad

Oblomov20 · 29/01/2020 16:55

Nope. Wish I could afford it.

Aquamarine1029 · 29/01/2020 16:55

I could afford a cleaner but I don't want one. My husband and I can manage just fine. If my health prevented me from cleaning, I would probably hire a cleaner because my home being very clean is really important to me, but I wouldn't be happy about it. The thought of someone in my home, that I don't know well, doesn't thrill me.

Steerpike902 · 29/01/2020 16:55

I got rid of some much kids crap we've been given and have a small cupboard for art/craft things now. I'd love a cleaner but need to make due

FuzzyPuffling · 29/01/2020 16:56

I've never had one. Both my adult daughters do.
