I see so many posts about people with cleaners and I'm genuinely shocked at how many people do! Don't get me wrong, if our finances could stretch that far I'd love one and I'm so jealous Grin but I didn't realise it was so common. Do you have a cleaner?

Yabu - no
Yanbu - yes

Hmm I'm pretty sure skirting boards aren't meant to come off.

We don't have a cleaner. We live far too rurally.

MashedSpud · 29/01/2020 18:07

No.

FancyPants20 · 29/01/2020 18:10

X-posted. Oh, those kind of skirting boards! I don't think they're actually called skieting boards, though, are they?

FancyPants20 · 29/01/2020 18:10

*skirting

FancyPants20 · 29/01/2020 18:12

Kick boards! That's the term i was looking for!

measelsmumpsandweasels · 29/01/2020 18:12

We have one. She comes once a week. We used to have one that came twice a week. We really could use one twice a week.

ShirleyPhallus · 29/01/2020 18:14

But how can I cleaner possibly do everything that needs doing? I don't see how they can much beyond a superficial job.
of course she wasn't going to do the insides of cupboards or take off the skirting boards.

I can hand on heart say I have NEVER removed the skirting boards and nor am I ever likely to.

Do people really remove skirting boards? Do people remove walls and clean behind those?

Greenglassteacup · 29/01/2020 18:16

I did but she was so shit that I fired her

Parker231 · 29/01/2020 18:18

Why would you take off your skirting boards? Our cleaner has a routine of weekly jobs and others she does monthly or quarterly. She also does things like change the bedding and put away the Tesco’s delivery.

DPotter · 29/01/2020 18:19

Not us, although I do pay for our ironing to be done, well DP's shirts as life is simple just too short.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/01/2020 18:20

We could afford one, but it would never cross our minds to have someone clear up our mess.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 29/01/2020 18:21

My kitchen skirting boards (under the units

Ahh the kick boards!! Yes I take mine off too and do under the units every now and again.

Lindylooboo · 29/01/2020 18:25

I have one and I love it. I would give up a lot of other things before I gave up the cleaner. I work full time and I don't want to spend my entire weekend scrubbing toilet bowls, mopping floors and getting rid of pet hair. Worth every penny.

catlady3 · 29/01/2020 18:25

Don't have one because I can't find a good reliable one (and no, I'm not OTT picky but I do think I should be able to notice after they've been). I'd give up a lot of things to afford one.

TheFuzzyStar · 29/01/2020 18:26

No I don’t. And I’m crap at housework Grin

Kanga83 · 29/01/2020 18:26

No, can't afford one but would love one. My problem is putting away clutter and laundry!

DryHeave · 29/01/2020 18:27

I’m trying to find one. With no success.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 29/01/2020 18:29

I don't because cleaning the house hardly takes any time at all. Maybe I have low standards (I don't think I do as my friends always comment on how tidy my house is) but I really don't find it that onerous. An hour at the weekend plus a bit of topping up in the week. Job done.

PineappleDanish · 29/01/2020 18:29

I secretly think that it is very lazy to have a cleaner

that's fine. I secretly think that people who treat cleaning as a hobby are a dull as fuck and need to get a life. Wouldn't say that to their faces but none of my real life friends are cleaning hobbyists either.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 29/01/2020 18:30

We could afford one, but it would never cross our minds to have someone clear up our mess

With both my DH and I working, small DCs and my physical disability, we're lucky that we've had the imagination for the idea to occur to us Hmm

We're not rolling in cash, but fortunate to have enough that we can afford it if we forgo some other nonessentials, to me it's worth more than a holiday!

Deadposhtory · 29/01/2020 18:32

Single working mum. Yes my cleaner is essential. I don't have a TV in the living room and don't have sky ect.
Well worth it

Moondancer73 · 29/01/2020 18:32

I don't have one - I am one

heidbuttsupper · 29/01/2020 18:34

I have one. Best thing l ever done.

AgnosticBaker · 29/01/2020 18:40

Ok they're called kick boards!

Jellykat · 29/01/2020 18:40

Like Moondancer, i am one twice a week.
