I see so many posts about people with cleaners and I'm genuinely shocked at how many people do! Don't get me wrong, if our finances could stretch that far I'd love one and I'm so jealous Grin but I didn't realise it was so common. Do you have a cleaner?

Yabu - no
Yanbu - yes

Don't have one, can't afford one - but I pay for other stuff. Oven clean once a year, £20 and looks like new. And have my meals made - £20 for 5 meals which is cheaper than I could make them!
I did have a one off clean once but wasn't overly impressed and can't find anyone that isn't extortionate and is reliable
It's only me and a cat so TBH I'm not too fussed

SamHems · 29/01/2020 18:43

Yep, five hours every Monday. The only way this place stays remotely tidy! 2 under 2🤪

Urkiddingright · 29/01/2020 18:43

We could afford one but don’t want one. I don’t like having strangers in the house and I definitely don’t like the notion of a stranger having a key to our home and being here when we’re out.

Northernsoullover · 29/01/2020 18:43

I'm a rare beast. I'm a cleaner who has a cleaner for my own home. I simply can't be arsed after cleaning other peoples houses all week Grin

Parker231 · 29/01/2020 18:45

Karencantobe - why do you think it’s lazy to have a cleaner?

We both have always worked full time, have a large house and little free time. What free time we do have, I’d rather spend having fun with friends and family rather than cleaning the kitchen floor or the shower screen.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/01/2020 18:45

Couldn't afford it, but I'm the type that would clean before the cleaner turned up so they didn't think we were mingers, thus making the cleaner surplus to requirements.

Lemonyfuckit · 29/01/2020 18:47

Don't have one but would love to have one. We both work long hours and this feels like a luxury that would make a big difference. However we're currently saving up for our wedding so can't justify the cost at the moment when that money could go in the savings pot. Hopefully in the future though (and especially if we're lucky enough to have children as we would both go back to work full time).

flyingfoxes · 29/01/2020 18:47

I've had them in the past and now that I'm increasing my hours I'm looking to hire one again. It would only be for a few hours every two weeks though -- it's really just the deep cleaning I have trouble getting to. Tidying and daily chores are no problem.

goodgodingovan · 29/01/2020 18:48

Yes we have one.

elc19 · 29/01/2020 18:50

My dream would be to afford a cleaner twice a week for a thorough clean and I'd pick up the rest but finances won't stretch! that's the dream though!

The80sweregreat · 29/01/2020 18:52

I'd love one , but it's just me and my own dusters!

icannotremember · 29/01/2020 18:53

No. Can't afford to. Would definitely hire one if I could pay though.

Lipperfromchipper · 29/01/2020 18:53

No not me, I like to clean my own house l, I can afford it but I would rather not. Now a chef I would love!!!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/01/2020 18:59

I can't stand the thought of someone else coming into my home and cleaning up after us, it gives me the shivers so no, no cleaner for me even if I was a billionaire. I would however have a gardener if I had a garden. 😃

Paperdolly · 29/01/2020 19:03

I think it would make sense for us to have one. I work 14hrs Per week basic and only one of those hours would be funding a cleaner.

I worry about personal stuff being left around. Bank details, letters etc. I don’t get chance to file them as quickly as I’d like. Do you hide your unfiled stuff?

SpeckledyHen · 29/01/2020 19:03

No cleaner although could afford one . I wouldn’t want a stranger in my house when I wasn’t there and I wouldn’t want to be there when they cleaned either , so no way could it happen .

Fedupwithmyhouse · 29/01/2020 19:06

We did have one in a previous property - she was shite and we got rid.

As soon as we move I’ll probably get one if we can afford it.

HettyPain · 29/01/2020 19:06

A complete essential in my book. Before we had our cleaners our house was, well, much less clean. It's tidier now too because we have to tidy before they clean.

LouLou789 · 29/01/2020 19:07

I have never had a cleaner. I’ve been the cleaner for three different working mums, though. The job fitted perfectly round small children.

iklboo · 29/01/2020 19:12

Nope. Don't have one, don't need one.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 29/01/2020 19:14

I have a cleaner and just about everyone I know has one. I don't work and a lot of my friends who have one don't either but we are busy with DC and community / voluntary work. For me, though, I don't like cleaning so need a cleaner. She is amazing and yes its expensive but keeps me sane

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/01/2020 19:24

I don't have one, but have considered it a few times! Unfortunately topping up holiday funds, extra into pension or overpaying on mortgage always seems like a better use of spare cash!

bengalcat · 29/01/2020 19:28

No I don’t have one . Do it myself weekly but am not overly bothered about the house being spotlessly clean and tidy .

morrisseysquif · 29/01/2020 19:32

I don't but nearly everybody I know does, including quite a few SAHPs!

I am considering it because I'm a childminder and could claim back as an expense.

The only worry would time needed to tidy up for the cleaner....

MerryDeath · 29/01/2020 19:33

i don't have one but hopefully i will be back at work by the end of the year and then i will definitely have one!
