To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?

Just that really: what is the box design all about? Why is there the circular hole? What are the perforated quarter circles for? Is it all some advanced alien technology or am I just too dense to understand a basic cardboard box?

one small box lasted two days? #suspicious

edwinbear · 25/01/2020 22:39

@frankie001 you can have 62 of them, I need to clear out space before Easter 2020!

notthemum · 25/01/2020 22:42

Ffs. I have only just seen this thread. I am looking after 2dgs overnight so no chance of going out and no bloody malteasers which I now desperately feel I need. Please will someone take pity on me and chuck us a few.

Tartyflette · 25/01/2020 22:51

The boxes you buy at the cinema taste the best of all, IMHO.
Then the other boxes, then sharing bags.
Measly little bags are better than nothing.
I have one in the car, bag that is, but it’s nearly midnight here and the car is three flights down and across a wet car park.....
I suppose the ALDI whole hazelnut chocolate bar in the fridge will have to do.

Apackoflips · 25/01/2020 23:00

I absolutely prefer Malteasers over any other chocolate boxes or bags. I tell my family and friends this . I buy them myself and tell anyone nearby that they are MINE and not for sharing. So why do I only get the 'posher' variety every time? The truffles .The Teaser bar multipack. The teaser little versions that take so much time to unwrap and have so little taste.

And while Im on the subject. Why is it that you get more Malteasers in weight in 3 bigs than you do for the same price box? And why dont you get exactly double the weight in the double sized box?

Cuppa2sugars · 25/01/2020 23:00

You’ve got me all curious now, I’ll have to buy a box of maltesers to see what you’re talking about 😁

frankie001 · 25/01/2020 23:06

@edwinbear I could easily eat 62 eggs before Easter. Happy to help clear space. I’m lovely like that !

Mummy0ftwo12 · 25/01/2020 23:11

@frankie001 sharing is caring

OneStepOneStumble · 25/01/2020 23:19

Quarter past 11 and now I'm cursing the fact I have no malteasers. Another vote in for the best chocolate award!

Someone take pity, I didn't even get any malteasers for Christmas!

nevermorelenore · 25/01/2020 23:26

The hole in the box is for you to put your mouth over and you get a steady drip feed of Malteasers.

Those little boxes remind me of going to the theatre with my grandma.

Poptasmagorical · 25/01/2020 23:31

I feel as though I've unleashed a maltesers-fuelled (or deprived) beast here.

Another maltesers mystery: Why do they disappear so quickly? I don't know where they go. Maybe the hole in the box is actually where they evaporate through. There's no other explanation.

Whilst on the subject of Maltesers, does anybody else find it really annoying that they spell Maltesers without an "a" in teasers, but their chocolate bar is spelt Teasers?

I don't mind which way they spell it, but I wish it was consistent.

And I wish I had a box of Maltesers right now.

Poptasmagorical · 25/01/2020 23:36

Yes! @TokenGinger I hate it!

longtimelurkerhelen · 25/01/2020 23:42

I have Maltesers Envy now

I too have leftover chocolate from Christmas ducks for cover

I have a large (not for sharing) bar of toblerone (smug) and a few Orange and mint after eights, I can't decide if I like them or not. Will have to "test" a few more to make an informed decision!

popcornpaws · 25/01/2020 23:49

I freeze my maltesers before eating them, the chocolate shell pops off nice and evenly, beautiful!!

BonfireStarter · 25/01/2020 23:51

Maltesers in a box are the BEST. They are not for sharing under any circumstances. The different size boxes are for different meals - the small box is breakfast, the large box is for lunch and another large one for dinner. That is the maltesers diet, it's the one I am best at.

frankie001 · 26/01/2020 00:04

@Mummy0ftwo12 of course you could have a nibble too!

Sgtmajormummy · 26/01/2020 00:27

The Maltese’s box with the flap and the round hole looks like a toilet lid.

Don’t follow that train of thought or you’ll never eat them again.

PocketFluff · 26/01/2020 09:09

When I was a student many moons ago I popped to the shop to buy some bread in a very hungover and feeling sorry for myself state. I came back with a plastic bucket of maltesers instead. That was a glorious afternoon and made me feel so much better. Do they still sell the family size buckets?

Emptybox · 26/01/2020 09:23

My daughter once I asked what an oxymoron was.
Three words:
Maltesers Sharing Bag

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 12:53

There is NOTHING fun about "fun sized" chocolate.

Damn right, there's not!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 12:54

I’ll have to buy a box of maltesers to see what you’re talking about

AN awful job - but someone has to do it Grin

Bloomburger · 26/01/2020 12:56

The lighter way to enjoy chocolate. Therefore you don't have to share them. DS, DD and DH are too stupid to understand thats what it means!

As for the box, it's so they don't rub together and lose their lightness voiding my argument that it's ok to eat a whole box due to aforementioned slogan.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 12:58

Bonfire

Now that's a diet I might be able to stick to.
