Interesting article, but don't seem to be able to comment there.
For me, Cantu all the way - it's not just for afro hair.
The co wash is brilliant, along with the curl revitaliser "comeback curl", the curl activator cream... my bathroom is stuffed with their products.
Also, I generally buy in afro hair product stores - about 60% of the price on amazon or boots/superdrug.
And silk pillow cases are expensive, but they make ahuge difference.

What's the article? I love cantu, Asiam and Shea moisture

hoxt · 24/01/2020 21:46

Cantu is too heavy for my low po hair. For leave in I like Kinky Curly Knot Today or Camille Rose Moisture Milk. For gel, Boucleme or Bounceculr or LA Looks. I squeeze my hair dry with Boucleme curl towel. Never dry it. Boom!

DickDewy · 24/01/2020 21:49

Canto too heavy for me - leaves my hair feeling dirty.

I love Boucleme; the curl defining gel and the super hold styler are what I've been searching for my whole curly life.

doubleshotespresso · 24/01/2020 21:55

Love Boucleme and Shea Moisture and also boots Curl Creme

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/01/2020 21:56

Cantu on my daughters Hair/
The spray, the creams and shampoo
N conditioner!

Drbrowns · 24/01/2020 21:58

I used to use Cantu but gave me really bad build up and very bad dandruff. I’m pretty sure it’s not curly girl approved anymore because of that. Even though it’s cheap I actually love Pantene curl friends mousse and it’s curly girl approved.

LakeFlyPie · 24/01/2020 22:03

Umberto Giannini curl jelly and also Twisted Sista Dream curl gel are my top 2 products.
Cowash wise I think the Inecto coconut conditioner takes some beating (and is £1 a bottle!)

myidentitymycrisis · 24/01/2020 22:07

I love Twisted Sister curl cream and I also have the leave in conditioner.
Cantu is too heavy on my hair.
I have some Boots stuff but find it sticky

StrongTeaDropOfMilkNoSugar · 24/01/2020 22:08

WhatsTheLatest · 24/01/2020 22:11

images.app.goo.gl/4Mtq9z8i4rLQgUuz9 my hair is quite like this, but so easily goes flat and looses its waves. Can anyone recommend a product that will help is to keep the waves in, or even make it more defined? Thanks

mamaca · 24/01/2020 22:21

I also use Pantene mousse for curly hair, I find it really good and often on 3for2 offer in Tesco. Aveda shampoo and conditioner are great too

NoAngel1 · 24/01/2020 22:22

I follow the curly girl method.
I love twisted sista gel, Boucleme gel, Asiam cowash and I’m still searching for a great conditioner.

megletthesecond · 24/01/2020 22:24

Cantu and mixed chicks.
And a good power shower (I don't have this but notice the difference when I do).

Bananacloud · 24/01/2020 22:25

Curly wurly shampoo from lush

Bananacloud · 24/01/2020 22:25

And coconut oil

BemidjiMinnesota · 24/01/2020 22:26

@LakeFlyPie

Umberto Giannini curl jelly and also Twisted Sista Dream curl gel are my top 2 products.

How do you use the Umberto Giannini curl jelly? I bought it but it seems to make my hair really stringy; maybe I'm using it wrong. I apply onto soaking wet hair and scrunch in.

audweb · 24/01/2020 22:28

I actually love aunt jackies curly hair range. Someone suggested it for my daughters hair, who is mixed race (African/white Scottish) but it works on my curly hair too. The detangling stuff is amazing.

Axlcat · 24/01/2020 22:40

I’ve been CG for about 5 years now (slightly modified version) and have used pretty much all the well known premium and cheaper brands. My current HG products are AsIAm dry and itchy co wash, Shea moisture mafura honey masque and boucleme super hold styler. The boucleme is INCREDIBLE but make sure you get the super hold. I also like kinky curly custard.

Cherrysoup · 24/01/2020 22:49

I think I’ve tried everything over the years. My method for several years has been to wet/soak my hair every morning, use any thick conditioner and brush it through. Leave to dry. I have properly spiral curls. They stay in the spirals all day using this method. I very rarely wash my hair.

I know what you mean about Cantu being a bit heavy - with the curl activator cream I need a pea sized amount - I use it about twice a week, I'm just over halfway through the bottle - from eighteen months ago.

Lots of people seem to like Boucleme - I'll look out for that one.

@cherrysoup - your curls look amazing.

Argan oil works wonders for me Smile

Toomuchgoingon · 25/01/2020 01:04

I use aveda Be curly Curl enhancer And Sap Moss now they have finally brought it back. Didn't get on with Boucleme at all..

I also alternate the Be Curly with Schwarzkopf Tame Wild.

JayDot500 · 25/01/2020 01:26

Cantu and Keracare. I'm black but my hair is frizzy rather than curly (some mixing down the line has meant my hair is barely a 3 texture).

My son's hair is curly/afro but with a soft texture. Cantu and Shea Moisture products are very good for it, but water spray + jojoba/coconut oil or Shea butter does wonders for it.

Sata /silk pillows and head wraps all the way too.
