Interesting article, but don't seem to be able to comment there.
For me, Cantu all the way - it's not just for afro hair.
The co wash is brilliant, along with the curl revitaliser "comeback curl", the curl activator cream... my bathroom is stuffed with their products.
Also, I generally buy in afro hair product stores - about 60% of the price on amazon or boots/superdrug.
And silk pillow cases are expensive, but they make ahuge difference.

OP what was the article ? I’ve never really bought actual curl products but always good quality products so I’m going to explore Boucleme a few of you have mentioned. I just wish I had a water softener fitted our water is so hard and my hair is so different when I wash it at the gym but I can’t always get there

Fr0g · 25/01/2020 07:19

@comingintomyown
on my screen it's pinned to the top of aibu

I ordered the boucleme last night from a website called fragrance direct - a 20% discount code popped up and it was £12 including delivery, a lot cheaper than elsewhere.

I love Cantu, it's been a revelation for my frizzy hair. Must try boucleme too. Any recommendations for online shops for these? I've been buying Cantu at Superdrug but it can be hard to find locally!

I have very curly hair , I can't deal with co washing as it makes my hair look and feel dirty !!..
I actually use head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner and then umberto gianni curl cream . I do follow the curly girl way of styling in that I add that to soaking wet hair then I put it up in a microfibre towel for half an hour before I diffuse . I only wash my hair every 5 days and use a curling tongs to touch up in between washes .

Hair before styling . 😂

Trepadora products have made my curls sooooo much better. They’re a bit more expensive than other products I’ve tried but they last a long time and the packaging means you get every last drop out the bottle. I use the conditioner and gel and my curls get compliments all the time.

Trumpleton · 25/01/2020 07:48

Following! My hair hasn't quite been the same since I had my son and about to have second baby, hoping my proper curls return one day! I used to get the Naked range but since that was discontinued and my hair went weird not sure what to try. Will look up your tips !

comingintomyown · 25/01/2020 09:22

Can’t find Boucleme on fragrance direct , not having much luck all round 😂

Fr0g · 25/01/2020 09:50

@comingintomyown - sorry, it was Lookfantastic - sorry

Thanks I’m off to look now !

Enko · 25/01/2020 10:22

Surprised Curly Ellie has not been mentioned at all here. Dd1 loves their products and feels it's the only way to manage her ringlets (she is 22)

SweatyUnderboob · 25/01/2020 10:22

Giovanni direct leave in conditioner is the truth, sealed with argan oil, everything else is interchangeable.

QuietlyPlotting · 25/01/2020 10:25

I like Jessicurl and Bouncecurl best.

The best thing though is my Denman brush - it gives really good definition when used correctly (lots of videos on YouTube if anyone is interested).

I have an Xtava Black Orchid Diffuser coming next week in the post and have high hopes for it!

SomewhereInbetween1 · 25/01/2020 10:28

Has anyone used Love your Curls? I keep getting ads for them but not sure it will work on my wavy hair

wonkytonkwoman · 25/01/2020 10:34

@ComeOnGordon Trepadora all the way, here too.
I'll have a look at the Boucleme though, it gets good reviews.

Cherrysoup · 25/01/2020 10:34

your curls look amazing

Thanks. I’ve tried all sorts over the years, but my really easy wet, conditioner, brush works brilliantly and I’m not having to do loads of steps.

I’d still love to just be able to get out of bed, drag a brush through it and go! I loved having it so short I couldn’t do anything when I was younger, but it would look terrible now!

ComeOnGordon · 25/01/2020 10:39

@wonkytonkwoman Whoo hoo another Trepadora fan 😊 I’m always promoting them since I know they’re a small company with great products. If I wasn’t worried about being anonymous I would post a pic that someone took of me last weekend at a party - curls galore

Sallycinnamum · 25/01/2020 10:48

I've tried the CG method but I hated the feeling of my hair not being clean.

The curls look great when I've washed them but I can't wear my hair down the next day as they look all flat and frizzy.

I swear by sulfate free shampoo, lots of c9nditioner, mousse and leave in conditioner. My Dyson hairdryer has also been a revelation. I don't know what I'd do without it now!

dairyfairies · 25/01/2020 10:55

I am using a lot of natural stiff too. Fenugreek mask, henna, aloe vera (in powder form). There is a blogger called curly proverbz who has lots of videos on YouTube. using these things was a total game changer for me.

Also the rice water rinse - I have high porosity curls and it really makes a difference.

works all much better than these products.

Fr0g · 25/01/2020 11:00

I've been looking at the dyson airwrap and trying to justify the cost for a while - it has a smaller dryer and I'd like to experinment with the styler to encourage more corkscrewy curls.
I airdry most of the year, and if I have enough time now, but in the winter the walk to work isn't long enough for my hair to dry by the time I get there.
Maybe I should get the dryer instead £100 cheaper, so an absolute bargain Grin

and the denman brush, D3 version. Huge difference to curl definition

Sassy31 · 25/01/2020 11:08

Where do you guys get your silk pillows from? Thanks

Goodnamesalltaken · 25/01/2020 11:09

Bounce girl hair products are great, a bit pricey though! As I am curl jelly is great for defining curls. I love righteous roots oil for scalp massage i use it daily, and also to as scrunch out the crunch. I use as I am double butter cream on day 2-4.
I'm a bit of a haircare product junkie so try lots of different products all the time. Oh another favourite is trepadora papaya slip. Trepadora is a british company they used to run the website British curlies I thinkConfused

Goodnamesalltaken · 25/01/2020 11:11

I second the rice water rinse. Haven't done one for ages. Just reminded me to make one now! Thanks @dairyfairiesGrin

dairyfairies · 25/01/2020 11:15

there are quite cheap pillowcases on Amazon but I wonder if they are any good.

trying to get my hair to grow and wonder too if it's an investment worth having.
