Aibu- are there smokers on here? Or closet smokers like myself?

Yes- and yes Wink

Crinklesmile · 17/01/2020 16:26

I love smoking. That instant relief when the first drag punches. No better feeling.
But I don't smoke currently.
5 years and counting this time.
I miss it all the time but know how expensive, unhealthy and smelly it is so I keep trying.

Stressedout10 · 17/01/2020 16:27

What is with all the smoking threads today?

BamboozledandBefuddled · 17/01/2020 16:27

I smoke and I enjoy it but I don't smoke in the closet. That's dangerous Grin

MellowMelly · 17/01/2020 16:27

Yes I do enjoy it. I also want to give up though so it’s a love hate relationship with cigarettes to be fair.
But I just can’t help enjoying them.

MrsPresley · 17/01/2020 16:27

I gave up a few months ago, after being ill (not smoking related, I was in hospital) and not having one for over a week, but when I smoked I really enjoyed it!

Funny enough i never thought I would stop, and I dont miss it either!

Newtothis6 · 17/01/2020 16:28

Did you crave cigarettes a lot? First thing in the morning for me

OP posts:
Newtothis6 · 17/01/2020 16:28

What do you enjoy about it?

Newtothis6 · 17/01/2020 16:29

I struggle with cravings, when do you crave most?

I love smoking! But it is so bad for my health and a bad example to my children. I managed to stop for Stoptober but started again over Christmas. I'm on a psych ward at the moment and smoking is life for most of the women here! I'm planning to quit again very soon. Luckily there is lots of smoking cessation support in the hospital.

Springersrock · 17/01/2020 16:30

I gave up smoking years ago but I do miss it

I scrounge the odd one now and then if I’m out with smoking friends (and usually a bit pissed) and I love that first puff feeling

easyandy101 · 17/01/2020 16:30

I don't smoke cigs anymore but i miss it every day

Was a 40 a day smoker and the first one was normally inhaled with my first waking breath

UndertheCedartree · 17/01/2020 16:30

And it's a massive waste of money too!

implantsandaDyson · 17/01/2020 16:31

I absolutely love it. I smoke about 10/12 cigarettes a week. I can go a couple of days without any. I dont have a specific craving in the morning. Having a cigarette in the day, all on my own, in the garden is my favourite, a bit like someone having a drink when their favourite tv show is on I suppose.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 17/01/2020 16:34

Craving is pretty much constant these days, due to 2019 being the year from hell and being diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression. Back in more normal times, first thing in the morning was always a case of 'Do not speak to me until I've had coffee and cigarettes'.

Cornettoninja · 17/01/2020 16:36

hand up

Yup. I really enjoy it.

I gave up when pregnant and now vape more than smoke but I have exactly six cigarettes a week when I’m at work and really enjoy them. If I’m ever out I will have a couple with a drink.

I can’t see me knocking the fags I do have on the head anytime soon tbh, although the price between me getting pregnant and going back to work did shock me.

Newtothis6 · 17/01/2020 16:37

I struggle with chainsmoking in the morning. I know it's bad. Has anyone else had one after another? I don't want to be the only one..

MellowMelly · 17/01/2020 16:37

@Newtothis6
I think for me the enjoyment comes from taking that time out for 10 minutes and just sitting on the chair in my garden and smoking. It’s a zen situation. My brain quietens down and I’m at peace listening to the birds twittering. I know I can do that without a cigarette but the cigarette seems to somewhat add to the peaceful moment Grin

Urkiddingright · 17/01/2020 16:37

I quit years ago when I first found out I was pregnant but I did thoroughly enjoy it before that, yes. I would only smoke Marlboro red’s and I used to have two when I woke up in the morning with my coffee. So disgustingly unhealthy looking back but I can’t say I didn’t love it at the time.

MonstranceClock · 17/01/2020 16:38

I smoke very occasionally. I’ve never gotten addicted to cigs though and have never craved one. I just enjoy the odd one.

eminencegrise · 17/01/2020 16:39

Yes, I do.

RibenaMonsoon · 17/01/2020 16:39

Yes and yes. I smoke in the closest when I've hung a few hams. Grin

I crave first thing in the morning. Then I'm fine until I get stressed by something which isn't very often.

Went to smoking cessation and then we moved house, stress is a massive trigger for me to smoke. That's what I need to work on.

SimonJT · 17/01/2020 16:40

I love smoking, I have 3-4 a day and it’s the highlight of my day. My favourite is my before bed one sat on the balcony with an alcofree beer, perfect end to a day.

AdaKirkby · 17/01/2020 16:40

I smoke about 20 a month. Not in the closet though, don’t want to set my clothes on fire. Usually in the garden but if it’s really cold I’ll smoke in the bathroom and leave the fan on for a couple of hours.

Both DP and I used to be proper 10 a day smokers. I’m sure he still has the odd one too.

easyandy101 · 17/01/2020 16:40

Never been able to have them back to back

A mate used to only smoke 2 at a time, lighting the new one off the old one.

Chaining them makes me feel sick
