My favourite dinner plate! Stolen as a student over 30 years ago. It is is Pyrex and makes everything taste better. I would be heartbroken if it ever smashed. A couple of times I searched on line for a duplicate to no avail. I guess they all went to landfill when the restaurants closed down.

I agree. Food looks horrible on coloured plates.

My dh will only get white plates he says it makes the food look better.

White dinner plates. White large bowls (pasta size). White large side plates. Then everything else blue and white. Everything goes together that way, looks great on the table even though nothing really matches.

We have plain white with a duck egg blue trim. My plan when it needs replacing is to go to all white.

Also if anyone is able to lay hands on a 80s style smoked glass coffee cup, let me know as nanna is down to 2 and refuses to serve coffee in anything else and i firmly believe that she will dehydrate on principle of those bloody cups smash

I got married in the 70s. Had a full set of Pyrex Carnaby Tempo,Absolute height of sophistication and fashion.

I now have all white - the majority of which was bought in the 90s.

Art Deco & Art Nouveau collector here too - we mix & match old and contemporary pieces.

Use plain circular white plates & then serve gravy and veg and condiments etc. in a variety of nice china jugs and dishes.

Nothing clashes I might add - cannot stand the fashion for mis-matched tea sets 😖
