I’ll give you a pass for off white.

Please someone tell me they also remember when the woman posted her roast dinner on a clear see through plate? #wistful

Pyrex Chelsea pattern to add to the thread-theme of plate pics!

I really don’t give a shit. However, I prefer slate.

KickAssAngel · 13/01/2020 03:16

I'm another one with Denny imperial blue. It's the only dinner set we have so use it all the time, and it's over 27 years old. Still in great condition.

I do have a few tea sets that I love dearly and they are more flamboyant. I have a pink and gold one from my great grandmother that is my pride and joy.

okiedokieme · 13/01/2020 03:23

A coloured rim is acceptable for everyday use, formal services should be white, gold rim or family crest ok ... in my opinion, and slates, chopping boards etc are never appropriate for meals!!! Grin

okiedokieme · 13/01/2020 03:27

Yes to white bedding (400 thread count Egyptian cotton) but for towels coloured at home are better as they are more forgiving ... two teenagers with a hair dye fondness!

Aglet · 13/01/2020 09:08

Who gives a flying f---k.

WorryBadger · 13/01/2020 10:27

I think it's been scientifically proven that people eat more off plain white plates, and the darker and/or more complex the patterning, the less they eat.
So...jazzy jangly black-and-multi plates for us chubsters, and pristine white for picky childrens?

ralfeesmum · 13/01/2020 10:27

And square plates and soup bowls are definitely out, IMHO.

CandiceSucksCandy · 13/01/2020 10:44

Yabu.
I have a mismatched collection of wonderful vintage plates. I love them, and everyone has a favourite plate.

Hodnet · 13/01/2020 16:32

Wilko's.

florascotia2 · 13/01/2020 16:43

Well, at state banquets, some of the Queen's china is gold and green - and floral.

I wonder whether this is the ceramic equivalent of the 'what'/'pardon' topic?

Nearly47 · 13/01/2020 18:03

White just because easier to replace. But bowls and some of the coffee cups are blue . I like single colours but don't like fussy patterns.

I got to page 4 of this thread and have lost the will to live.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 13/01/2020 18:29

Mine are Italian blue, I like them

lowlandLucky · 13/01/2020 18:33

White and round only, never ever anything else

MadCap · 13/01/2020 18:54

Mine are white round ones from Jamie Oliver Royal Worchester. They have a slightly raised geometric pattern also in white. I bought them when DH and I got married 16 years ago. I've only had to replace 2 plates in that time and I still really like them. I wish I had bought the pasta bowls as well, but we lived in a small flat at the time.

I go through wine glasses like water, mostly from dropping them in my ceramic sink, so I only buy cheapy plain ones.

I love all white bedding but I have awful periods so we're in the process of replacing everything with darker colours.

LadyAllegraImelda · 13/01/2020 20:11

I badly want these;

www.themermaidhome.com/review-sanger-palm-beach-12-piece-diner-set

I do have some big black squares ones but only use them if nothing left. My current ones are multi-coloured arty swirls that look hand painted.

Giggorata · 13/01/2020 21:14

I have a ton of Rayware Olivio, which cheers me up and goes well with my acid yellow kitchen. I mix and match with plain racing green, green with yellow sunflowers and green and yellow Bockling. I don't like white anything, except bath, loo and (not all) ceilings. Even my kitchen sink is dark green.
Under the bed, I have MIL's blue and white wedding dinner service, which I might sell one day..
In my holiday cottage, I have a duck egg blue Denby set.

RedSheep73 · 13/01/2020 21:28

Personally I prefer white, but if other people want colours, what's that to me?

nettie434 · 14/01/2020 00:01

I have a weekend cup too

Oh good StCharlotte. That makes me feel better. It just feels so nice to have a leisurely coffee or tea in a weekend cup!

White is overrated Grin.

Rastamousehat · 14/01/2020 14:59

We have oval plates (and bowls) and round ones. There isn't really a full set. Some are patterned some are white. I refer the white oval ones
