Settle a disagreement - heating in the morning?

Lighthearted but settle a disagreement between my husband and I!

Our bedroom is above the boiler so when the heating comes on it's relatively noisy.

I have to get up for work at 6am, i take the dogs and the toddler to their respective day places and then go to work.

Husband is a contractor so his work is variable - sometimes he is home not working, sometimes he gets up with me to get the train, sometimes he works from home etc etc.

I insist that the heating is on a timer so that it comes on in the morning so I'm not freezing when getting ready etc. He's complaining that it wakes him up when he doesn't need to be. Heating clicks on when my alarm goes off so not on before then and not excessive.

So am I bu or is he? Grin

He is.

Ginfordinner · 07/01/2020 22:20

He is. It's January FGS!

ToLiveInPeace · 07/01/2020 22:21

Yup. Him.

Thehop · 07/01/2020 22:22

He is. Kid’s need it in too.

BoomBoomsCousin · 07/01/2020 22:23

Move rooms. But he is.

KnifeAngel · 07/01/2020 22:23

We never have the heat on in the morning. It seems pointless as we leave within the hour. I couldn't stand it on when I am in bed.

dudsville · 07/01/2020 22:24

He is

schoolcats · 07/01/2020 22:25

Tell him it can come on later if he takes the dogs and children to their day care places and then you won't have to leave so early - win win?

negomi90 · 07/01/2020 22:26

Heating is timed to go on an hour before I get up. Can't get out of bed into the cold.

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/01/2020 22:27

He is, it's freezing in the mornings and it's horrid being cold.

DesLynamsMoustache · 07/01/2020 22:28

I think he is. We have a thermostat and the heating just clicks on and off throughout the day and night as needed so it could be going on at any time. Does he wear earplugs? White noise?

mineofuselessinformation · 07/01/2020 22:29

Why should you have to get up in a cold house just to please him?
And why should your child?

yomellamoHelly · 07/01/2020 22:30

Ours comes on 30 minutes before I get up. Even then it's pretty cold for the first 30-45 minutes. So I think you've compromised already....

Gingertam · 07/01/2020 22:30

He is. I know a few people who don't put the heating on before work, but I can't stand being cold while I'm getting ready in a morning. Agree with schoolcats. Tell him you'll stay in bed and he can do the running about.

gemma19846 · 07/01/2020 22:33

He is! We set ours to come on before we get up or it would be cold! If he "doesnt have to get up" then he can either try to go back to sleep or get up with you. His choice

littleducks · 07/01/2020 22:33

I also dont have hearing on in morning on weekdays as we are up then out in an hour pr ninety min so seems as waste. I like to open windows in mornings for fresh air in rooms.

I kind of thing he maybe should be getting up anyway to be with kids? Unless variable hours mean night shifts etc rather than just vould have lie ins.

PleasePassTheCoffeeThanks · 07/01/2020 22:39

He is.

As a PP suggested, he could look after the dogs and DC, this way you can sleep longer and the heating can be turned on later. Win win,

Ginfordinner · 07/01/2020 22:40

You are made of tougher stuff than me littleducks.

It isn't a waste if it is too cold to get out of bed. For a start I would be too cold to get undressed to shower.

cakeandchampagne · 07/01/2020 22:43

He is being very unreasonable!

BackforGood · 07/01/2020 22:43

You both are BU
It should come on AT LEAST 30mins, and possibly up to an hour BEFORE you get up. Pointless is not coming on until you've got up and got cold.

TroysMammy · 07/01/2020 22:47

I never put the heating on on the morning before work or even on days off. It is timed to come on at 5pm and off at 8pm. I can't stand being even hotter in bed.

BottleOfJameson · 07/01/2020 22:49

I try to be as environmental as possible but just wear a jumper indoors etc but have the heating on for an hour before we get up. It's so hard to get out of bed when it's freezing!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 07/01/2020 22:49

He is.

Dh gets up before me & puts our heating on, I hear the boiler. I’m not fussed because it’s better than freezing my arse off when I get up 40 minutes later. I’m not lazy, he likes mornings, I like nights.

nowaypose · 07/01/2020 22:50

Definitely him. Ours comes on about half an hour before we wake up.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 07/01/2020 22:50

He is BU.
