Why is it that on MN you're accused of trolling for mentioning twins Confused
seen a lot of troll hunting threads:
'they always have bloody twins'
I happen to have two sets of twins.
the hell does that make me??? Hmm
what's this hatred of twins on here??

YouTheCat · 31/12/2019 16:48

I also have twins. It's not a hatred of twins. It's a mild loathing of arsehole trolls who play on people's good nature with made up shit.

I think you're being somewhat melodramatic. It just happens that many farfetched stories on here seem to include twins, seems to add to the 'dramatic effect'. It especially seems to occur during fake pregnancy drama threads, hence becoming something of a trope to say 'I bet it will be twins' as a synonym to 'I dont believe this'.

ilovethickboys2 · 31/12/2019 16:52

@SquareAsABlock never seen a thread like thatConfused

@ilovethickboys2, hang around for a while Smile.

ThunderboltandLightning · 31/12/2019 16:54

SquareAs summarises well. You can guarantee that any dramatic thread will have some dripfed twins somewhere. As soon as I see twins in one of those threads, I demote it to 'for entertainment only' and stop investing.

AllergicToAMop · 31/12/2019 16:58

And begging threads. It's always 35p on a leccy and weeks old twins.

Popupshopper · 31/12/2019 16:58

Yep it’s a reference to the bored people looking for a connection/rise out of people late at night.
For example “I suspect my DH is having an affair. I’ve found messages on the computer, I know which hotel he’s staying in but have cancer/twins/sick child in bed” circle as appropriate or all three.
There’s always twins.

Popupshopper · 31/12/2019 17:01

I remember one such like the above and AnyFucker came on and just said “twins, you say?” .. the scales fell from my eyes at that point, it had seemed relatively convincing or am I kidding myself

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 31/12/2019 17:02

It's never twins!

PurpleDaisies · 31/12/2019 17:02

Trolls seem to like pretending they’ve got twins. There have been a lot of threads deleted.

bettybattenburg · 31/12/2019 17:16

Wait until you see the triplets threads...

Melroses · 31/12/2019 17:18

Trolls seem to like pretending they’ve got twins.

Yes, its really annoying as I am a sucker for them, having twins myself. It is as well to be aware. Wink

ilovethickboys2 · 31/12/2019 17:19

Jesus Christ. why twins?? how are twins comparable to fucking cancer Grin Confused

OP posts:
Ostrichfeather · 31/12/2019 17:21

I think they help with a lot of begging threads. As in ‘well, we were doing fine, then DH lost his job and I found out I was pregnant with twins.’

Having two babies means more money and also more likely for a complex pregnancy.

Crunchymum · 31/12/2019 17:21

You have two sets of twins OP?

Blimey!

ilovethickboys2 · 31/12/2019 17:22

@crunchymum yep. they're the best kids on earth to be honest Smile

OP posts:
NoSauce · 31/12/2019 17:23

Lots of trolls say they have or are having twins. That’s why people are often dubious when they’re mentioned.

C8H10N4O2 · 31/12/2019 17:24

Two sets of twins you say? Check your store cupboards quickly, are you down to your last tin of beans?

It's OK, she's got a Mumsnet chicken for the week.

justasking111 · 31/12/2019 17:29

Never noticed. I have not seen as many stories of hardship this xmas either.

C8H10N4O2 · 31/12/2019 17:30

You eat the whole chicken in a week? Surely you can make it last longer than that.

Personally I manage on one lettuce leaf each for the week and a quick sniff of the stock pot.

Bluerussian · 31/12/2019 17:31

I've not seen it. Have seen a few posters talking about having twins but nothing negative, maybe I've just been lucky. Twins must be lovely to have and they aren't unusual.

SquareAsABlock · 31/12/2019 17:32

Amature. I live off the fumes of all the ironing I take in. Anything else is just gluttonous.
