Why is it that on MN you're accused of trolling for mentioning twins Confused
seen a lot of troll hunting threads:
'they always have bloody twins'
I happen to have two sets of twins.
the hell does that make me??? Hmm
what's this hatred of twins on here??

Can anyone else see “mnhq have commented on this thread” at the top without any comments?

OhMsBeliever · 31/12/2019 18:13

I wanted another set of twins. Until I actually got pregnant and was relieved it was only one baby!

Plus I have 2 older kids, so 5 in total. Some have SEN. And I'm on benefits (as a carer for my disabled child) so I should have all the sympathy points. Woe is me! WinkMust fish that mouldy bread out of the bin for their dinner. Grin

In reality my life is quite normal and boring. Though maybe that's because mine aren't babies so I can't claim I can't do anything because of baby twins that are ill etc.

OhMsBeliever · 31/12/2019 18:15

@KatoPotato

I can see twins, but have no ducks to get in a row. Poor me. Sad Please send ducks.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/12/2019 18:35

I have twins but am not fictitious 《looks down to check legs still visible》 they're not, either. I'd get a hell of a lot more sleep if they were!

However, this really is barely credible but true..... DH works with a guy whose wife had a baby. When baby was 11 mos, they found out she was pg again... with twins. When twins were 10 months, they found out she was pg again.... with triplets!!

They actually had 6 children under 3 for a brief period.

I thought dh was taking the piss, but we subsequently ran into that man in the street who confirmed it all! He is now retirement age and all dc in their 30s, but my god, every time I'm tempted to complain about being tired I just think of him and his wife. Can you imagine.....!

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/12/2019 18:44

As others have said, a lot of begging threads that are not genuine include twins! It's nothing against actual twins Smile

Bit random but my dad knows someone in RL who has three, yes, three sets of twins Shock I don't think they post random begging threads on mumsnet though Crown Grin

Owlypants · 31/12/2019 18:54

@PurpleDaisies I was wondering about that. I wasn't able to post on this thread earlier

Ellisandra · 31/12/2019 19:00

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff at least his 6 under 3 Shock were just about long enough ago that acceptable parenting could include parking prams and a playpen outdoors for an outdoor nap... not an expectation to take all 6 to baby ballet, rattle and rhyme, tiny talk... Grin

ItalianinLondon · 31/12/2019 19:26

I wouldn't mind mine becoming inaudible for a while...! Wink

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/12/2019 23:36

Ellisandra, yes he told me he lived in a small Scottish village and the other villagers clubbed together to buy them 3 pushchairs for the triplets, and the village blacksmith welded them together so he could walk out with them Shock and someone made his wife a double sling out of sailcloth for the twins, and that is how they got around as no car.

I have never been more grateful for my MountainBuggy Duet!!

Linguaphile · 31/12/2019 23:47

YANBU. I have twins. Heaven forbid you ACTUALLY are having twins and go online to get some help naming them. Confused

Ellisandra · 31/12/2019 23:57

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff love that about the pushchairs!

lborgia · 01/01/2020 01:08

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff - for a second I thought I'd worked with same woman... but they'd be teenagers by now. Both parents were surgeons, and she went back to work as soon as she could, and got 2 nannies. No judgements here.

I was fascinated and horrified in equal measureShock

Ohyesiam · 01/01/2020 01:13

I don’t have twins, but I do have a holiday home in Mexico. If you pm me I’ll send you the keys.

rainbowlou · 01/01/2020 01:50

They’re always full of the most horrendous cold too.
(But I do know someone with 2 sets of twins, she also lost a 3rd set in early pregnancy).

WTH am I missing out on ?

Emmelina · 01/01/2020 01:54

I haven’t been on MN long, but a baby board I was on when PG with my three was much like here. We found the made up for attention posts often involved twins/triplets/cancer/everybody died/whatever (the ones that get more outrageous/unbelievable with every addition)
I think it probably makes people more skeptical when multiples are mentioned alongside something questionable. Of course real twin families exist, but it seems to be something trolls toss around to get more attention too.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 01/01/2020 05:02

I've noticed lots of obvious trolls who invent twins. However I've never automatically assumed that twins = troll.

I've got a friend who's a twin, and she also has older twin sisters. Plus another sibling. And years ago I knew a very old lady who was a twin and she told me that when she and her twin were 18months old her mother gave birth to triplets. This would have been during WW1 so no fridges or washing machines. Poor woman.

MrsToothyBitch · 01/01/2020 08:06

We have twins in the family. The parents were warned that trying for another baby was likely to result in twins again! So it can happen, although rare.

vivacian · 01/01/2020 08:13

gapping wholes sounds painful (and messy).

justcly · 01/01/2020 08:16

I have twins, but I always refer to them as just kids on here. For obvious reasons.

SnugglySnerd · 01/01/2020 08:20

I have dts. IRL people always say things like "I don't know how you manage with 2" and "you've got your hands full" and people open doors for the double buggy and bring your drink over to you in cafes and so on.
In MN everyone believes that you should carry both babies and your hot drink upstairs to find a table in a cafe, likewise struggle into a tiny toilet cubicle with a double pram despite the changing table being in the disabled loo - it would be completely unreasonable to have a quick wee yourself while you are in there doing nappies and heaven forbid you park in the p&c space.
I've never noticed the troll thing tbh, perhaps that is why people on here are quite anti-making life easier for parents of twins.

Marmite27 · 01/01/2020 08:29

I was once Ona team in a call centre (10 of us), only the manager and me weren’t twins. Then the manager got pregnant with twins. I left. I was too scared of an accidental twin pregnancy!

NoSauce · 01/01/2020 08:35

Been on here for ten years and never seen these threads

Nobody can link as all the twin trolls have been zapped.

Of course some genuine posters have twins, but they don’t bring that fact up in conversation.

It’s the posters with the far fetched threads, the evil MIL, 26p to last the week, some other far fetched drama that drags on. There’s always something about these posters, they don’t listen to advice, they change their story, drip feeding along the way.

Open your eyes and you will see them because they are on here.

Booboostwo · 01/01/2020 08:42

Quite a while ago, about 9 years ago I want to say, there was a troll who posted about the birth of her premature twins. She hooked quite a few people before everyone realized she was making it up and, unavoidably, some people had become over invested by that stage. She then did the same on the Horse and Hound forum (I don’t know the troll, I am assuming it was the same person), a thread that went on for a bit till someone from MN came onto HHO and outed her.

NoSauce · 01/01/2020 08:45

Yep, DizzyMare. What a piece of work she was.
