Why is it that on MN you're accused of trolling for mentioning twins Confused
seen a lot of troll hunting threads:
'they always have bloody twins'
I happen to have two sets of twins.
the hell does that make me??? Hmm
what's this hatred of twins on here??

OP posts:
NoSauce · 31/12/2019 17:34

Wow op you have posted some odd stuff today?

Two sets of twins is a big clue.

PlomBear · 31/12/2019 17:35

Twins.
Blue lighted to hospital.

SquareAsABlock · 31/12/2019 17:40

Two sets of twins is a big clue.

Come on now. One set of twins is suspicious, but the more sets you have the more likely you are not to be fibbing, obviously. I have 27 sets of twins, homeschooling them all whilst working as a top flight barrister, alongside the taking in ironing. You know it's true as I have said so and why would I make it up?

FestiveFavourites · 31/12/2019 17:41

Wasn't there a poster who was frequently blue-lighted to hospital and would post from the back of the ambulance? People still thought she was genuine though, probably because she didn't claim to have twins.

buckeejit · 31/12/2019 17:44

2 sets of twins? I know someone with 2 sets, hope it's you OP. In all my years on here never uncovered someone I know. All girls by any chance?

ItalianinLondon · 31/12/2019 17:51

@ilovethickboys2 I have twins too. What's more, they were MCDA twins, so I must be a super troll! ;)

OhMsBeliever · 31/12/2019 17:52

I have twins. Despite my looks I am not a troll.

coconuttelegraph · 31/12/2019 17:52

As others have said no one hates twins but they often occur in made up stories and can be an indicator that an unlikely tale isn't true.

SlayingDragons · 31/12/2019 17:52

Well I have just the measly one set (plus two older DC) and I try not to mention them in threads because I know that some people will instantly think I’m a troll no matter what I’m posting about! Have to say that it really doesn’t bother me.

(I also know one person with 2 sets - both non-ID b/g sets - but I don’t think I know anyone else with more than one set.)

ItalianinLondon · 31/12/2019 17:53

Roger Federer has two sets of twins.
Granted, it's unusual, but not impossible. I'm a twin and DH also has (fraternal) twins in the family, so our chances were always going to be higher.

SlayingDragons · 31/12/2019 17:54

Ooh yes, I forgot about the lovely Roger. Sadly he is not my friend Sad

ItalianinLondon · 31/12/2019 17:56

P.S. I was asking for advice on lupus + acute illness a few weeks back and happened to mention being tired out but having thought it was just due to being run ragged by twin DDs. Nobody seemed to instantly think I was a troll, even though I'd agree that sounds hard-luck-story-ish. Or if they thought it, they were too kind to say.

ItalianinLondon · 31/12/2019 17:57

@SlayingDragons I know, I would totally be up for having the lovely Roger as a friend!

katmandoo · 31/12/2019 17:57

That's why I stopped at one set of twins as the neighbour behind me had two sets as did a woman at work. I wasn't taking the risk. Glad I didn't as we went from a family of no history of twins to 4 of us having them after me and then while doing my family tree I found lots of twins in previous generations.
I do think you have missed a trick because the twins often have special needs, which adds to the "poor bastard" score. I notice this because mine do have SN and it's normally at this point I notice the gapping wholes in the story as I know how special needs work. (Or doesn't as the case maybe)

SunshineCake · 31/12/2019 17:59

I heard of someone who had three sets of twins..

Ellisandra · 31/12/2019 18:00

My aunt’s goddaughter has 2 sets of twins, 18 months apart, too!

But agreed that you’re being over dramatic to think there’s any twin hatred.

Some trolls swap out the twins for a very preemie singleton. Doesn’t mean there are real early babies too.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 31/12/2019 18:00

I know someone with two sets of twins. She just calls them 'my kids'. The troll threads always have twins, it's just a thing to make people feel more sorry for them, or make it more interesting.

Ummusomebody · 31/12/2019 18:01

My GM had 3 sets so did her sister. Guess who is expecting twins? But thank goodness I have enough water to last me for ages(if I can keep the thing down). not going to mention twins again on here lol

toomuchtooold · 31/12/2019 18:03

I have twins. I am also Swiss. Not a Federer though Grin

kateandme · 31/12/2019 18:04

oh roger Grin

NoSauce · 31/12/2019 18:04

Lots of twin trolling on Baby names too.

32ndOfFebtober · 31/12/2019 18:07

The vast majority of twins on MN are fictitious Grin

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 31/12/2019 18:07

I have twins and sometimes it I’m commenting I wonder if people think I’m trolling.

I also wonder if people think I’m at it with me username and spelling of “definately”

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 31/12/2019 18:08

Also I worked with a Dr who was a twin and had older sisters who were twins, PLUS 2 other siblings.

I have DCDA twins and twins on the female side of the family so we’re not even chancing another pregnancy Grin

KatoPotato · 31/12/2019 18:11

When you see twins, it's time to get your ducks in a row .
