Why is it that on MN you're accused of trolling for mentioning twins Confused
seen a lot of troll hunting threads:
'they always have bloody twins'
I happen to have two sets of twins.
the hell does that make me??? Hmm
what's this hatred of twins on here??

OP posts:
Bitofnamechanging · 01/01/2020 08:55

I know someone who had a single boy, triplet boys and the twin bg. She had 5 boys and one girl in three pregnancies!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 01/01/2020 09:02

Irish twins anyone?

That usually gets a deletion.

damnthatanxiety · 01/01/2020 09:29

It's twins and or SEN. Everyone having a problem appears to have dc with SEN. Perhaps it's making stuff more dramatic, maybe it's true. Who knows but often it comes up after an OP is being skated for being lazy or not pulling their weight and they drop in that they have dc with SEN. So it seems a little Hmm

MontStMichel · 01/01/2020 09:29

The vast majority of twins on MN are fictitious grin

I can assure you, mine are very much real! I am too busy with RL dramas with them, to waste my time imagining what twins must be like, to troll on the internet!

MontStMichel · 01/01/2020 09:36

PS - only on Monday, DH informed me regional teams were set up after 7/7, but now they are called in for difficult situations not just terrorism! Such as when DD slipped on some mud, fell 5’ down onto the concrete bottom of a reservoir, flat on her back! Cue two fire engines, three ambulances, a police van, a police car and said regional team.

One firefighter asked if it was a work creation scheme, as they hadn’t had a shout since Xmas Day!

My imagination just isn’t good enough to imagine all that!

dreichhogmanay · 01/01/2020 14:12

My twins are also pretty real.
The thing I most notice on Mumsnet is the firm belief that having twins is no excuse for not being able to fold a buggy singlehandedly while holding both dc on a moving bus, that no one should unreasonable enough to imagine that a p&c space actually is valuable when shopping and believing that twin buggies somehow can shape shift so using standard women's toilets isn't an issue.
Thankfully in RL people were actually very supportive and didn't believe any of this stuff.
My pair are now tweens but they early years are remembered!

toomuchtooold · 02/01/2020 17:50

@driechhogmanay I just avoid the buggy bus threads now as they do about as much for my state of mind as actually trying to travel on the bus with twins. When our kids were small we lived in London where the buses were usually rammed anyway, funny how in the whole time I lived there I never saw a single able bodied person leave the bus to make space for a disabled person. But that's OK.

PositiveVibez · 02/01/2020 18:13

how are twins comparable to fucking cancer Grin Confused

Umm, I don't anybody compared the two. Just saying that both are used for dramatic affect whilst telling a made up story.

You have a massive twin chip on your shoulder OP. Thousands of families contain twins. It's nothing 'special'. Just makes the troll look like they have a lot on their plate to deal with whilst also dealing with their original made-up issue.

Chill. Nobody hates twins 🙄.

Yeahnah2020 · 02/01/2020 19:15

I think twins are pretty common. I have them! More older mums with their ovaries desperately throwing out eggs and an increase in the need for ivf. Voila lots more twins. They’re nothing special. Just like normal children. I really do t understand wva fascination with them.

butwhateverfor · 02/01/2020 19:20

Maybe Joy Odell of Topsy and Tim fame has more problems than we think?

bertiesgal · 02/01/2020 19:20

I have twins. I've been accused of trolling twice.

My life isn't particularly outlandish so now I know why my threads look troll like 🤣.

Can real twin parents get a blue tick like celebs on Twitter to prove we're real?

Please Halo

bertiesgal · 02/01/2020 19:38

I'm also a thread killer...is that a twin thing too? 🤦🏻‍♀️

SleepingStandingUp · 02/01/2020 21:43

It's twins and or SEN oh God. My PFB had additional (medical) needs and I have new twins. Should I assume no will believe any thread I post where I need to mention them? Like bertiesgal I need a blue tick. Doubters can come watch the 6 am feed whilst the 4 yo plays good new game of twisting good o2 tubes around his sodding feet then declaring he's trapped!!

emzey · 02/01/2020 21:55

I have 2 sets of quads...but a Mercedes 7 seater out the front. Can I have £1 sponsorship a week for each child. The oldest have to go in the trailer. Sponsor a seat...
Happy new year!

emzey · 02/01/2020 21:56

I'm sorry but that seems to be the way this thread is going, ouch!

Potplant · 02/01/2020 22:00

I haven't seen any begging threads for a while, but yes there is always twins.
I've got twins, they're real although One of them smells like a troll sometimes. IRL I never refer to them as 'the twins' and anyone else who does gets my stare of death. In fact I never really talk about them being twins unless someone asks how old they are.

Mine are also skinny and over 6ft which is another MN trope.

SleepingStandingUp · 02/01/2020 22:38

@Potplant mine also smells like trolls but tbryre not yet 3 weeks old. Is there ever a point they don't smell like trolls? Both boys...

busybarbara · 02/01/2020 23:05

Must admit I’ve not seen any twin stuff but it does seem like every other couple has a child with autism on here

Yubaba · 02/01/2020 23:14

When I was pregnant with dd there was a woman in my nct group pregnant with twins, we both got pregnant again a couple of years later and she had a second set of twins Shock Her dh had a vasectomy after that!
My grandma also had 2 sets of twins, her first and last pregnancies were both twins.

MyOtherProfile · 02/01/2020 23:24

2 sets of twins? I know someone with 2 sets, hope it's you OP. In all my years on here never uncovered someone I know. All girls by any chance?

But if it's two boys then two girls it will be our neighbour instead.

OhMsBeliever · 02/01/2020 23:48

@SleepingStandingUp mine are 15 and smell like trolls, so no, it never stops. Mind you, my others have also smelled troll like during their teens so I don't think it's a twin thing.

@busybarbara
Two of my kids have autism too. But not the twins. I've got it all going on here. But I'm still not a troll. Honest. Poor me with my boring life. Please donate excitement. Fun excitement though, not drama and stuff.

SleepingStandingUp · 03/01/2020 00:52

Fun excitement though, not drama and stuff.
Haha this. Dhh and I spent nye between two hospital with 3 kids between 7 am and 8pm. It was an exciting NYE, it just wasn't fun.

CassidyStone · 03/01/2020 18:54

I was enjoying reading a thread posted by a woman with twins and triplets all under the age of three...it's gone now, though.

I always wanted boy/girl twins before I had children. Now I take my hat off to you parents of twins - one baby is bloody hard work! My workmate has twin girls who look absolutely adorable in her Facebook photos. They are little devils in real life though, going through the terrible twos in tandem.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/01/2020 05:31

I haven't seen any begging threads for a while, but yes there is always twins.

There was a thread yesterday which purported not to be a begging thread but was a poster asking for advice as she was down to her last £5 and didn't know whether to spend it on food or heating. Lots of posters made suggestions re foodbank etc. Several people asked if she had a relative who she could borrow £10 from until her pay came through, to which the OP replied that her only nearby relative was her sister, but she couldn't ask her as she had just given birth to twins.

I was really tempted to reply with "hmmm, twins you say?" but restrained myself.

MontStMichel · 04/01/2020 12:24

I'm sorry but that seems to be the way this thread is going, ouch!

I am glad you find it funny - we were at A & E until 5 am this morning with DD1, asking for a CT scan of her head in case she had a slow sub dural bleed, following the incident on Monday as above - on the advice of a doctor in the family, who came to A & E with us to make sure she got treated properly!
