AIBU?

AIBU to ask you about my Christmas outfit?

I am thinking about wearing a wool skirt with red and green checks, woolen jumper/cardigan (Navy), wool tights (navy), pearl ear studs.... pearl wristband.
Does wearing a very visible watch at Christmas look stupid (like you cannot wait to get away from people)?

Should I wear this with shoes or boots? How about black ones that look like riding boots?

What kind of coat or jacket? Log all weather coat/jacket, Trenchcoat, light down jacket? (I guess my Camouflage Parka is not a good idea)

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

I think it sounds lovely. I love tartan skirts. (And pearls)

Shinysun · 24/12/2019 08:08

Are you cooking xmas dinner? Because you'll be melting if you are.

Hoppinggreen · 24/12/2019 08:09

To finish your look you will need a Labrador

FrangipaniBlue · 24/12/2019 08:10

With a red and green check skirt I'd go grey tights and jumper to tone it down and not look to Christmas elf-like.

Pearls and watch all fine.

Footwear I'd go for black brogues or ankle boots.

JKScot4 · 24/12/2019 08:12

Are you Kate?

malificent7 · 24/12/2019 08:13

It sounds very posh festive. The skirt sounds great but perhaps with a black top and no pearls!

PurpleDaisies · 24/12/2019 08:14

Just place marking for pictures.

icklekid · 24/12/2019 08:19

Coat surely depends on what your doing/where you are going! Practically wins

TowelStripes · 24/12/2019 08:22

Too hot! I'm in Jeans and a vest top as my mum has the heating on full whack and I can't cope

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 24/12/2019 08:42

I'd wear black tights and a black top if you've got those with the black boots.

I think it sounds nice, but I'm a bit of a country bumpkin so accept not everyone would like it!

Fr0g · 24/12/2019 09:02

how old are you that you cannot make a decision about how to dress?
Then ask a bunch of strangers whether its suitable without any idea of who/where/what, or what tempreature its likely to be.

No, that is not saying I give a toss and would like to know these things.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 24/12/2019 09:04

I think you have a rather extreme idea of how much people are looking at you and analysing your behaviour. I might compliment you on your watch if it was nice, but I wouldn’t read all these bizarre implications into your wearing one.

Ohffs66 · 24/12/2019 09:05

treepee I thought my comment had posted twice and was a bit confused 😂😂😂😂. Great minds!!

dudsville · 24/12/2019 09:08

I think your idea sounds great, but I'd ditch the pearls. As pp are not so subtly hinting, you run the risk with this outfit of not looking v current (gasp horror). You can make this outfit look retro cool though with hair and shoe selection.

Thepeabody · 24/12/2019 09:09

I can’t work out whether this thread is a joke that I don’t get?

PineappleDanish · 24/12/2019 09:10

Really. Who cares.

How can people have enough headspace for this sort of shite? Nobody will care what kind of shoes you have on OP. Nobody's interested. They're all more focused on getting wired into the selection box and making sure the turkey's cooked through.

Maltesefalcon · 24/12/2019 09:12

Pearls? Seriously?!

IncrediblySadToo · 24/12/2019 09:12

Definitely move to style & beauty. They appreciate discussing this type of thing.

Frankly it wouldn’t occur to me that wearing a watch could be offensive/rude. I’m there’s nothing wrong with wanting to know the time!

Navy tights and black boots - no.

Red cardigan.

But importantly be YOU!

I’m going to be wearing Treggings & a Santa t-shirt, but I’m not going ‘out’ and there won’t be any of the older generation there. Just friends, games & food. So 🤷🏻‍♀️

p0rridge · 24/12/2019 09:12

OP, why don't you try posting in Style & Beauty? AIBU, as you've seen, isn't always the place for kind advice so you might get more input there - of a gentler variety.

For what it's worth, if you're looking for a traditional & respectable outfit I think it sounds lovely.

TheHootiestChristmasOwl · 24/12/2019 09:18

To finish your look you will need a Labrador

I was going to say the same thing!

treepee · 24/12/2019 09:20

tbf I've assumed this thread was a joke.

IncrediblySadToo · 24/12/2019 09:20

@Thepeabody I would have assumed so, but style & beauty is full of this shite (and why it’s not a board I spend time on!!🤣)

@frog if you want your mind really bent, read the style & beauty board...it’s quite mind blowing

@TowelStripes. I’m starting off in treggings, but will end up in shorts because my friend has her heating set to ‘bake’ add in food & alcohol and I’m like a furnace!!

It’s not a look that would pass the S&B test but fortunately my friends know me well and don’t care what I’m wearing! Thank fuck

Ijustwanttoretire · 24/12/2019 09:20

How old are you that you are incapable of deciding what to wear that you need to ask a bunch of total strangers who, if asked, most would probably say 'I wear PJs all day'? Get a grip, as long as you're not naked who the hell cares? And if they do LTBs. (Why isn't there an eye-rolling emoji?)

peachypetite · 24/12/2019 09:21

Can you post a pic?

treepee · 24/12/2019 09:24

I'm wearing this as with the in-laws this yr so thought I should tone it down a bit. Not with heels though, that would be crazy!
