AIBU?

AIBU to ask you about my Christmas outfit?

I am thinking about wearing a wool skirt with red and green checks, woolen jumper/cardigan (Navy), wool tights (navy), pearl ear studs.... pearl wristband.
Does wearing a very visible watch at Christmas look stupid (like you cannot wait to get away from people)?

Should I wear this with shoes or boots? How about black ones that look like riding boots?

What kind of coat or jacket? Log all weather coat/jacket, Trenchcoat, light down jacket? (I guess my Camouflage Parka is not a good idea)

Am I being unreasonable?

Not sure navy would go with the skirt to be honest. Do you have black? Black riding style boots sound like a good idea. Hard to say for sure without pictures.

I wouldn't worry about the watch at all. I think it's fine to wear.

churchandstate · 24/12/2019 07:27

The outfit sounds very twee to me, sorry.

FamilyOfAliens · 24/12/2019 07:28

It sounds a bit Balmoral, OP. Sorry.

Flyingfish2019 · 24/12/2019 07:28

Yeah, I also have tights... and a cardigan in a very dark grey... but I always think black can look a little sad... so I am not sure

Cardigan colours I can choose from dark grey, light grey, sand brown, Khaki, dark green, red, navy.

Red, green, navy and black boots? Not sure about that combination if I'm honest. Depends on the shades of green and red. The watch, nothing at all to worry about (you're over thinking it!).

Pinkyyy · 24/12/2019 07:30

I'm not sure everything matches by the sounds of it, but it's difficult to say without seeing the outfit. Where are you going?

Also that's a bizzare theory about wearing a watch, most people, myself included, wear one every day. I'm yet to be mistaken for trying to rush away.

Flyingfish2019 · 24/12/2019 07:30

@FamilyofAliens I thought it was a good idea to dress but traditional for Christmas/meeting with older folks.

I think the skirt is the problem... and the pearls. But wear what you like! I’ll be in jeans. 🎅

MidnightCircus · 24/12/2019 07:30

In which case, how about skirt, red cardigan, black boots. Black tights? As for coat, anything I'd say

treepee · 24/12/2019 07:31

Are you Princess Anne?

Ohffs66 · 24/12/2019 07:31

Are you Princess Anne?

Bluntness100 · 24/12/2019 07:32

Can you post a pic? It all sounds a bit colourful...

The watch thing is silly though, most folks wear a watch.

treepee · 24/12/2019 07:32

@Ohffs66 🤣🤣

Flyingfish2019 · 24/12/2019 07:32

I typical do not wear a watch. I typical look at my mobile phone... but I cannot do this at Christmas... would be rude... so I would wear the wach for the sole purpose of knowing the time... maybe I am afraid to get caught.

itsgettingweird · 24/12/2019 07:33

I'd go with red or green cardigan with skirt having the colours in. Plus it's more Christmassy colours.

However unless it's your usual style I wouldn't be going all twin set pearls for older relatives. Just wear your own style and be comfortable.

churchandstate · 24/12/2019 07:33

That Princess Anne comment 😂😂😂

MakeItRain · 24/12/2019 07:36

I hate the feeling of wool. Makes my skin itch. What would you normally wear? Other people shouldn't influence your outfit.
I'd be in jeans with my phone somewhere handy Grin

Bodear · 24/12/2019 07:36

@Flyingfish2019 are you looking forward to Christmas?
If you can post pics and maybe post in Style & Beauty you might get more help?

Pinkyyy · 24/12/2019 07:37

Why else would you wear a watch if not to know the time? What do you mean by 'get caught'? It's not rude to want to know what time it is OP.

Could you post a picture of the skirt?

CherryPlum · 24/12/2019 07:38

Sorry OP but it all sounds a bit Edinburgh Woollen Mill. Is this your usual style?

Pinkyyy · 24/12/2019 07:38

Yes you should really have posted this in style and beauty, maybe ask for it to be moved.

churchandstate · 24/12/2019 07:40

Reminds me of...

AIBU to ask you about my Christmas outfit?
ferntwist · 24/12/2019 07:41

Can you post pics? The watch is absolutely fine but the outfit sounds more like something you’d wear to a county horse show than glam Christmas Day attire. Of course it does depend massively on your figure too - if you’re slender you can look fab in most clothes (don’t flame me MN, it’s true).

ineedaholidaynow · 24/12/2019 07:43

Are you going somewhere you don’t usually go?

AlaskanOilBaron · 24/12/2019 07:44

Can you post a picture?

I think a green and red checked skirt (I'm imagining a miniskirt?) with a big wooly jumper is pretty cute. I'd wear it with boots and maybe skip the pearls.

It's never weird to wear a watch, that's an odd question.
