Happy Impeachment! Next step is removal. (Trump thread 98)

In the last thread, Trump was impeached by Congress. Now the question is when the articles will be sent to the Senate for Trial, as - at this stage - there is no guarantee from Mitch McConnell of a fair trial. Trump clings to his belief that his call to Zelensky was “perfect”.

Just a reminder that Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion.

Jillyhilly · 27/12/2019 12:59

It might be best to return to what we to do best - share information and links - and not allow them to distract us. I think that’s what they’re trying to do.

Wow, you got me. I’m a Russian bot doing my best to “distract you” from your vitally important work of bringing down the evil dictator Trump by sharing Guardian links with each other.

This place has got to be the most inward-looking little bubble I’ve yet found on mumsnet. Weird.

RhinoskinhaveI · 27/12/2019 13:11

Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion
...and that's a whole nother swathe of data that trump really needs to keep under wraps🤫
he has no leadership abilities, no strategy, not even the cognitive capacity to understand his own limitations....he's just a bull in a china shop

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/12/2019 13:22

A bull in a china shop.... does a lot less damage. In a minute I will find it....

Yup. Here we are.

NO offence intended, RhinoskinhaveI; I just think that is such wonderful footage of great lumbering creatures proving to be real experts on moving carefully. Great Danes are the same, sort of: they negotiate rooms full of fragile ornaments without breaking anything, where a terrier bounces around to the sound of fractured frangibles.

PerkingFaintly · 27/12/2019 13:32

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime I love that clip! Those bulls are so delicate and graceful and scary.

lionheart · 27/12/2019 13:36

They are surprisingly agile, aren't they?

RhinoskinhaveI · 27/12/2019 13:39

It's ok🙈 I realise now I am doing a terrible injustice to bulls, they are majestic and dignified 🐮
I will try and think of a better metaphor but all I'm getting is 'loose cannon'

RhinoskinhaveI · 27/12/2019 13:43

Trump can only have his way by getting rid of all the intelligent people around him who can see the disastrous implications of what he wants, but now he is relying on a motley crew of sycophants who do not have skills or abilities to carry out their roles
He's toast

Lweji · 27/12/2019 13:48

Wow, you got me. I’m a Russian bot
If the shoe fits. Wink Funny that you feel targetted.

I don't think any regular pp on these threads is oblivious to how Trump's core base has reacted and how right wing media is putting it. See several links and comments.
Nor is anyone particularly convinced about Biden or other Democrat candidates (although Warren is very right in many aspects, but won't be perceived as sufficiently moderate, although she is for European standars). Also see several comments about it.

In any case, the base support is shifting, as shown by the most recent polls, even by Fox. (as in a previous post)

It's worth reading the threads a bit back to get a real feeling for what we do here, if you're really interested.

YouretheChristmasCarcass · 27/12/2019 15:01

Wow, you guys! That was some magificent defense and source-citing there!!!

With 2020 peeking round the corner it's going to start getting, ahem, 'busy' in our little corner of the internet.

Lweji · 27/12/2019 15:12

Speaking of incompetent people surrounding Trump.

'Trump drew the attention of his 68 million Twitter followers to a tweet by his reelection campaign’s “war room” that linked to an article by the conservative Washington Examiner news website. The article, published on 3 December, has the name of the alleged whistleblower in its headline.'

To all of you posters living Stateside, especially the lucky one in NC!, who will the Republicans put up in 2024, his administration doesn't seem to foster new talent? When will Ivanka run, with Daddy holding her coat-tails?

cozietoesie · 28/12/2019 21:48

She won't run.

cozietoesie · 28/12/2019 23:17

Sorry - that was a little terse. I just don't think that she has what it takes, seule.

TheClaws · 29/12/2019 00:08

Trump seems to have gone a little woo over the weekend, tweeting MAGA and conspiracy theory accounts incessantly, as well as tweets about the identity of the whistleblower.

Just in case we missed this previously. Twitter account naming whistleblower is probable bot.

Trump faces criticism after sharing tweet naming alleged whistleblower
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-50936816

Mr Trump shared a post from a user named @surfermom77, who described themselves as a "100% Trump supporter".
[...]
Previous posts by @surfermom77 - the Twitter user retweeted by President Trump - include anti-Islam content and posts spreading the false conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was a Muslim.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the account bears the hallmarks of an automated "bot" account, "including an unusually high amount of activity and profile pictures featuring stock images from the internet".

The account's profile picture - a stock photo of a woman in business attire that was pulled from the internet - was changed on Saturday to an image of Mr Trump.
