In the last thread, Trump was impeached by Congress. Now the question is when the articles will be sent to the Senate for Trial, as - at this stage - there is no guarantee from Mitch McConnell of a fair trial. Trump clings to his belief that his call to Zelensky was “perfect”.

@ AcrossthePond55 but that’s not fair - they don’t just impeach you for nothing! There must be loads of evidence and if people just vote along part lines anyway that’s not justice is it?

As far as I’m concerned it’s like the Scottish ‘not proven’ verdict (‘we’re pretty sure you did it but don’t have enough evidence yet’)

Um holy sh*t. This certainly makes it sound like Parnas and co. were actively tracking Yovanovitch's movements. This could explain why Yovanovitch was moved out of Ukraine so quickly.

The Yovanovich details make my hair stand on end.

Aside from anything else it seems to represent such a peculiar mix of brutality and ineptitude. So callous and self-serving but very much in keeping with the whole Trump shit-show.

I am not sure I understand why Hunter Biden giving evidence at the impeachment hearings in the Senate is such a bad thing from the Democrat point of view or such a good thing for Trump: is HB likely to have anything to say which might exonerate Trump in the slightest? Or indeed to have anything pertinent to say about Trump and his buddies' vilification of Biden's father at all? I keep feeling that I must be missing something about that.

Having watched previous hearings in committees, the modus operandi of some of the Republicans is to use their "questioning" time simply to "testify" themselves – and not in a truthful way.

So it goes:

Questioner: "When you were kicking the puppies, did your father hold your coat in his left hand or his right hand?"

Witness: "I've ne..."

Questioner : "This email to your father in 2003 saying I need a new coat, is that because you liked getting the puppy blood on it, or because you were annoyed at it?"

Witness: "That em..."

Questioner: "Are you denying there was an email about a new coat? We have the copy here, you can't keep pretending like this."

So the point of having Hunter Biden in front of the Senate will not be in order for anyone to hear what Hunter Biden has to say. It will be for Republican senators to make rambling, unconnected, rants at him giving the emotional impression someone somewhere must have done something wrong, don't ask the details just listen to the outrage.
