Is this a genuine error? Ocado- champagne

I know it’s a first world problem.
I ordered 6 bottles of Veuve and they’ve delivered 3 bottles & 3 bottles of similar looking Prosecco. Not as a substitution, nothing mentioned, difference in price is about £25 a bottle

Am I being unreasonable?

It looks it I'd contact them

Contact them. Veuve is my absolute favourite champagne, nice choice OP

Doesn't matter whether it's deliberate or a mistake, you need to contact them and get it sorted out. It's not what you ordered and not an agreed substitute.

I'd say genuine error, let them know so they can sort it x

They’ve obviously substituted it, I’d just keep it and enjoy!

Ocado are normally very good at rectifying mistakes if you call/email them .

Why do you think it might not be a genuine error?

Looks like an error.

Veuve Cliquot is lovely. Some Prosecco can be nice, but it ain't VC.

What have you been charged for?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 21/12/2019 11:12

I'd want my Veuve not some cheap arse fizz.

YABU for posting this. Just call customer service and get it sorted.

What OP has been sent costs £25 a bottle LESS than what she actually paid for, that's not my idea of enjoyable [fhmmm]

SmuggyMcKnobson · 21/12/2019 11:17

I promise there is no charge for the extra 'm' in my smiley Blush

I called as soon as it arrived
They have refunded, but it takes 10 days and said I can keep the Prosecco. Told me I could reorder the Veuve. Hmm
I’m not usually that cynical but my first reaction was to think someone was trying to pull a fast one!
That’s why I was asking if you thought it was feasible for someone to mix up the two bottles.

If you look at your bill online it will probably show that they adjusted the charge down to the cost of the cheap one. Check that first.

You’ll be able to return them. They clearly ran out of verve!! And who ever was doing your shopping isn’t a champagne expert at Ocado!! Sack them immediately

Feelingabitashamed · 21/12/2019 11:24

I think the bottles look similar enough to be genuinely mixed up by a packer. The labels on the neck are very alike.

SophieSong · 21/12/2019 11:34

I think they are really busy this time of year so is probably just a genuine error rather than something nastier like deliberately trying to short change you with cheaper bottles.

They do look very similar. It's lucky you noticed before you got half cut and it all tasted the same anyway Xmas GrinWine

I love Veuve Cliquot. Yum. I’d try and offer the Prosecco to anyone, who can’t tell the difference.

Ocado charge you for substitutions (not relevant here as it is cheaper) but worth checking in the future. So there is no enjoying any substitution with ocado.

For items on offer
The total cost, before discount, of the items on special offer that we delivered (including any substitutes). The total cost, before discount, of the items on special offer that you ordered. The saving that you would have received if we delivered everything you ordered. Then we divide (1) by (2) and multiply it by (3) to arrive at your pro-rata saving. Finally, we divide this total between the items on special offer that we delivered, based on their cost.

For other items
The price you pay will be the price of the new item you receive, including any offers.

I'd say genuine mistake. The pickers don't care what they're picking! Makes no difference to them what the value of the goods is.

Report

Quartz2208 · 21/12/2019 11:49

Given the response yes I would say it’s someone who has no idea of the difference

Report

NotSorry · 21/12/2019 11:51

I'd say genuine error - rapid picking, tops look very similar

YANBU not to want the Prosecco - vile stuff
